hey all, just got my SGS but i wanna know that is SGS having weak wifi problem? My router located downstairs. while in my room upstairs,my laptop and ipod touch have no problem connecting and surfing while my SGS can't even connect to the router. All these is done in the same room upstairs. Even go downstairs also cant get full bar while my ipod touch can easily get full bar of wifi signal. Any comment?

But now is weak wifi signal wor...not weak telco signal...

btw, is there anyway to check the hardware of the phone like what you do on normal computers?

haha thanks for your concern man. As you can see there are so many versions and tweaking on the first page, then some more mine is AP set so got different ways to flash. Then i see your signature got ROM, kernel and baseband (can simply mix?)

As i'm moving from ipod touch 4th gen to sgs, i experience quite a lot of lagging so it really bothers me
really hope flashing will help me solve this issue...wondering why one year ago people paying more than 2k to buy this phone while it is so complicated

1.i flashed to Stock XXJVQ as mentioned in step 1-3 in post #4 but no improvement on wifi signal. Any suggestion?

i'm at recovery mode after flashing speedmod-kernel-k15i-t9.tar, running Stock XXJVQ
the menu got
- reboot system now
- apply sdcard:update.zip
-wipe data/factory reset
- install zip from sdcard
- backup and restore
- mounts and storage
- advanced ClockWorkMod features
- advanced SpeedMod features
- go back

I'm not sure i should do now to optimize the phone, any expert can kindly guide me?

ops...i just notice that 'OK' is the power button and i go convert to EXT4...now progressing...any harm?

How to check if my device rooted? Currently on xxjvr with speedmod-kernel-k15i-t8.tar, went in recovery mode and root already but titanium backup keep say device not rooted and i reinstall few times already @@

Yes i do have, just the titanium backup got some problem of force close or say device not rooted. Nvm, i wipe all data and reflash with new rom and try.

Anybody using antivirus or similar apps on your phone? been using lookout security and feels that ot is slowing down my system...any sggestion? do we really need one?

Display only 2hrs..how you do that..

Mine last night on display and wifi for 7hr continuously then only battery die...gooding?
