Hows SGS2 Compare to HTCS?

No match, terms hardware wise, the only thing the s2 lose is the screen resolution. but sensation price lower.

You're changing the ROM too fast for the battery to settle down.
*
really? do you mean i need to stay down and observe first? i did battery calibration.

Yup you need to do a few battery cycle then monitor the level. My practice for every kernel change is charge to full, wipe battery stats, let it dry and then another full charge without the wipe. Then I can gauge the performance of the kernel and ROM from there on.

Edit: The dry method is not idle only, you can whack it until it beep-beep till it dies.  nod.gif

but saw you using ninpo kernel right now? is it much recommended? and is launcher got anything to do with battery drain? another problem, after flash to latest 3.5 version without wipe, i notice i got android os bug, it consist of highest battery drain which normally is display, thanks in advance.

I can't undervolt my phone to my desired level when using Angelom. But the new version #22 has ntfs module which is very useful for USB otg but Ninpo serves me well at the moment.  smile.gif

Launcher does not effect your battery, widgets is... especially the social network-blog type of widgets (need to adjust the update interval accordingly).

Android bug,  hmm.gif more hype than a true fact for me. Since KDD till KG6, I have that in the top three position in batt stat percentage. Another note, I just spent a few minutes on the phone, then the "Android OS" will drop. Idling, it increases.
*
but i don't have that kind of widget running which concern me a lot...

Using TW or 3rd party? Try running without any widgets (ok ok, just put Google Search widget so it won't look naked  smile.gif  ).
*
using adw launcher pro actually, calender, simiclock, battery monitor, calender(sync off), weather(sync manually), widgetsoid. thats it...

I think it's for OTG function. Since there is no official change log for this kernel (maybe in Italian forum), you can head to LeoMar rom thread, maybe there is discussion on this kernel.

Added on August 12, 2011, 12:37 pm
How about remove it all and adding it one at a time. So you can monitor the battery usage.
*
yup, was thinking to find the culprit, another things is there is no wakelock, means the phone is in deep sleep when i din touch it, cant really find what program is actually draining the batter....that's why im thinking of this rom as flaw..hope not, observe for a day perhaps, cant bear my percentage keep dropping.

Hello...,

MIUI on SGS2 (MIUI Android variant).... Here are a few screenshots after two days using it.

Beware, this ROM is not for the faint hearted people. You need to graduate from CF-Root, Lightenin, Villian, Nimpo, SpeedMod, Batista, LeoMar classes before even venturing into MIUI or CM7 or any other AOSP roms.

Thing that does not work or not available at the moment...

1. No 3G Video Call
2. Bluetooth won't save settings and pairing records
3. Not so smooth Full HD video play (This is a really high def video, something like DIVX HD standard. Others are ok)
4. Data connection has to be manually activated on every reboot
5. No Samsung craps...
6. MIUI was derived from CM7 source and kernel thus it will inherit some CM7 bugs although the kernel was tweak by bmarko himself.
7. Some hiccups on media scanning, Music player will list the songs after couple of scanning process
8. File Explorer quit of following your instructions, can't rename, can't delete etc. (happened to me after first time flashed but was ok after few reboots).
9. External SD-Card is not shown in Storage and About page (so no management function available from phone UI), it can only accessible thru File Explorer. Apps will not use External SD unless it accept hard coded path or has some kind of scanning mechanism like Music player.

Pros
1. Very themeable ROM. Can change anything on the UI, lockscreen etc.
2. Torchlight application is a nice app (never like torchlight thou) coz it can switch on by pressing the home button on the lockscreen.
3. Nice UI transition and very well design.
4. Very well design camera interface (compare with other non-stock ROM), second only to stock.
5. Got Firewall program to control blacklist, data connection etc.
6. Ability to hide programs and Guest mode (if you wanted to do some demo), but I prefer if it comes with Incognito mode.

Cons
1. Default theme may look like iphonish.
2. There is no App Drawer in the launcher. The app was cluttered on the screen (iphone style with widgets), but a trick of folder management can bring the apps back to Android way of life or install other launcher.
3. Currently it drained 3% of batt juice hourly.

Think of... Linux with KDE (MIUI) and Linux with Gnome (AOSP), then you can get the basic idea on it.

well said, LOL. the battery drain scared me. i tried CM7 before, but for only one day, it feels somehow laggy especially in the transtition. but i did like the modified ADW launcher catalog function. You using miui right now? not going to change others?

All rooting is safe. Rooting will not remove any data
just rooting alone: supercurio3
Root plus recovery ; chainfire cf4
Root +recovery+cook Rom+data intact: litening Rom try very 4.2
refer page 1 post#5 for links
Make sure battery at least 50% charged

Added on August 16, 2011, 7:53 amSilrave : I was on cognition 1.31 and Monaco past few _days. Both are excellent , no complains
Will test bastita70 v 3.5 today

please give feedback on those rom you tested in both performance and battery life rclxm9.gif
