a samsung app that comes with the phone in the sgs2 sgs and sg tab that allows u to track phone lock it and make it ring, from the samsung dive website http://www.samsungdive.com/

However one must stay with touch wiz UI to enjoy this features. Once flashed AOSP ROM s dive cannot detect your phone.

1.Hi why does one say get litening and stay away from villain for beginner? If they way to root for.both are the same than why does one say that that the latter are not for begginner?

2.how about cyanogenmod7 compared to litening?

3.there are many version of litening which are for which or the bigger the number the latest it is?

4. i understand that in order to backup the rom i need a clockworkmod;
-what is clockworkmod image?
-do i need an sdcard to backup and image gile of my current os before flash a new os?
*
1. Villain rom you must root first to get cwm, before you flash the rom from recovery. Furthermore, vilain included some tweak which may confuses new users. For litening, a beginner just need to flash zip file directly from Odin. It will auto root for you.

2. Benny advises that as a starter, litening rom is easier to flash. Just get Odin and flash. CM7 is built on android open source project which is completely diffirent from Samsung based built, which mean you must know which app, kernel does not work with CM7. As quoted from xda forum, " if you don't know what you are doing, stay away from it". You may want to read a lot before you flash cm7 but not very tough once you understand.

3. Get the latest, I think still version 5.0

4. Yes please get a SD card. Using cwm to backup will go to externel SD card.

Can someone help me? im on stock ROM and my battery drains very fast. im on 70% last night around 11:30PM then when i woke up around 5:30AM, its already on 35%.. any help would be appreciated

FYI:
- i turned off all running services in the background before i went to sleep

By the way im using setcpu and tegrak overclock and its running on MAX: 500 MIN: 200.

If you have turn off everything then the drain is abnornal. You may want to look at battery usage and see what items drain most.

Not sure if you adjust voltages using tegrak, you may accidentally increase the values?

If you have use your phone for a while, probably you want to calibrate your battery state after a full charge.

I think on both google map version 5.8.0 and 5.7.0 is enable navigation. Maybe CM7 got something to do with it? You can get back your old version by uninstall update.
To do this you go to Setting > applications > manage applications > all > open maps > uninstall updates
*
Thank you so much. After uninstall updates it get back to my old version 5.7 own here. Hope the map won't auto update again this, else I will need to uninstall update every time, or restore via TB.

If you get amp update from Google, you won't get navigation working in malaysia. Google navigation is not supported in Malaysia yet. So I got to install map 5.7.0 ownhere.apk as stated in page FAQ.

If the intention is just to flash litening, I think goes straight to Odin and flash. Litening. Does not requires you to pre root. Its package will root and install cwm for you when flashing litening itself.

Remember to unzip /unrar your downloaded rar file. You shall flash the md5 file after unzip not to flash the zip file itself. Just follow xda android development forum step by step

Thanks I will use TB to freeze. Market updater.

Last times I used to uninstall map and reinstall map5.7.0 ownhere.zip (edit : .APK file not zip) once I flashed new ROM. Then I noted I can reinstall my old map via TB directly. No need to reboot smile.gif

Market updater freezer now. Hope to stop auto update. smile.gif

On map, I still need to use TB to reinstall my old map, or use manage program to uninstall updates. This will not stop Google to auto update to new map version. This is annoying, any way to stop map auto updates?

You can always choose not to allow autoupdate . Just untick auto updating at the Market

im using litening rom and just enter samsung dive..it refer to your email that you register your phone...nothing to do with ROM

Samsung dive won't work with CM and MIUI ROMs. In fact when I was with solarflare s2, Samsung dive fails on me as well. When I pressed remote control it did not response. I does not know. If it was my own problem since solar is based on Samsung framework.

I found strange things happened to me. I have unticked auto update google maps again and again, and it still update by itself. I better think it is a mystery during ghost festive period. I will go and purchase Sygic Aura.
