1.31 the 1.40 is having some probs, wait till 1.41 comes out, then u read user comments see good or not fiz
edit: cognition 1.42 is out ad, gonna see anyone comment bad or not fiz
advise is flash cf-root kernal so you get cwm, then use that cwm make a nandroid backup, then only you flash lite-ning rom, restore the nandroid if you face problems, or if u dun have anything to lose, straight flash lite-ning la, ntg wrong wan~
Guys, i have to say, Cognition 1.31 rom + jeffrey speedfrey 2.0.0 (release) kernal = fantastic battery life! H on for 8 and half hours while downloading manga with mangawatcher while 2 hours me reading manga with twitter refresh every 30 mins, k9 every hour, viber on and auto sync on+normal usage sms/call/viber and i still have 60%!! shocking.gif  so far it's the best battery life i've ever seen, and whats more i'm in an area that dont have very good signal, sometimes dc, using DiGi doh.gif Seriously try the 1.31 rom and that kernal, dam i like what i see thumbup.gif

here's the link to the kernal: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1213339
i also wanna thank the dude who posted 'anyone tried this kernal yet' a few days ago  notworthy.gif

thanks.. will try soon.. smile.gif

im on the right way.. haha.. just want to give some review.. smile.gif
today i get mu usb jig (for back up if somthing wrong happen to my S2)

after get that, i tried the Jeffrey-SpeedFrey 2.1.0 [kernel] cos i face a problem with my batt, 100% will empty for 8hours-10hours.. thats really bad for me.. after read instruction, a lil' bit praying then i flash the kernel with ODIN, praise God everything ok.. n restart normally, then i backup my data with titanium n CWM..

than i go to next level flash Liten'ing ROM, again with a lil' prayer then FLASH done.. but i need to reFlash my Jeffrey-SpeedFrey 2.1.0 [kernel] than i flash it again.. all restart normally n can run perfect without wipe my data..

now im testing it for 1st one hour, with music on, blutooth on, 3g on, sometimes play games n download... just drop 9% with that all on..

and now im still on my way to 2nd one hour test, with GPS on, 3G on, Wifi on, Bluetooth connected to my headset, and play music thru my bluetooth headset for 1hour will update the battery condition after one hour.. smile.gif wish me luck.. smile.gif

any suggestion for me?? i just give some review.. thanks.. smile.gif

my combination:
ROM: Liten'ning 5.0
Kernel: Jeffrey-SpeedFrey 2.1.0 (release version)

did u do battery calibration? charge to 100% then use the battery calibration app, then discharge to near 0% the discharge part is optional, but recommended.
dont judge so fast, batt calibration fiz  laugh.gif  are you using a SME set or UK set?
*
not use any calibration apps.. only my way test, not a proper test.. tongue.gif i finish my 2nd one hour test.. smile.gif with wifi on (not connected), bluetooth on (connected), 3G on, GPS on (keep my papago running on the background when 30mins left), music on (played with bluetooth headset), 30mins left i keep my screen on in auto brightness, the result is 17% less than before.. smile.gif

thanks.. thats my review.. biggrin.gif have fun.. biggrin.gif

Erm, regarding sending phone in for warranty. Should I flash back to stock ROM if it's only a hardware fault? They will still honour the warranty if I'm having a custom ROM on it?
*
usually yes

I don't wish to flash the kernel or the ROM always so anyone one here can recommend which ROM and kernel is the best for batt life issue? thanks
*
my experience you must use combination:
My LAST combination:
Rom: Litening 5.0
Kernel: speedfrey 2.1.0
Result: 16-17% drop after music, bluetooth, wifi, 3g, gps on

Current Combination:
Rom: Batista 3.6
Kernel: speedfrey 2.1.0
Result: not tested yet, just calibrate my battery for 1st time.. smile.gif latter will update stat about the result.. smile.gif but until now (3g always on, email, twit (30min), yahoo messenger a bit download) 1hr = 5% drop..

wow... i just realised that silent mode isn't really silent... must go and turn off the media volume manually! what a lousy feature of a silent mode!

haha your truly want to play some games in meeting?? how bad it is.. haha.. try audio manager maybe it can help.. smile.gif

hi all, just sent a lil bit review from my subjective opinion.. smile.gif
ROM: Batista 3.6
Kernel: speedfrey 2.2.0

boot animation damn good, better than litening stock boot animation.. I like Batista cos it remove some samsung apps that usually i don't use like games hub, etc.. so more memory save here, more performance we gets.. smile.gif n more space for others apps that i want to put on phone memory.. thumbup.gif

The most important issue i want to know is batter drain.. its impossible to make 1680mah tobe 4000mah (like galaxy tab)haha
i tried battery calibration n this test i do only in half hour. Condition: music on, use my bluetooth headset to hear music while driving, only music n bluetooth on it lost 4%of my battery for 30mins... what you think about it??

my review yesterday with litening 5.0 and speedfrey 2.1,0 with music on, blutooth on, 3g on, sometimes play games n download... just drop 9% in 1 hours

the second test with litening n speedfrey with wifi on (not connected), bluetooth on (connected), 3G on, GPS on (keep my papago running on the background when 30mins left), music on (played with bluetooth headset), 30mins left i keep my screen on in auto brightness, the result is 17% drain..

but if the battery drain because of the kernel setting only, so should be better now because my kernel is same dev but newer version..

now result after 6 hours++ used (normal use maybe sms10, email every hour auto, also got many emails today (push email) twitter 30mins, 3g always wholeday on, FB 30mins, yahoo background, call 1-2 times only..) my battery still 66% not too bad i think until 2morrow still can handle.. biggrin.gif

my question..
actually i turn my 3g on when i test today, but suddenly my signal barr show "R" whats that mean??

weird.. my Rom batista 3.6 kernel speedfrey 2.2.0

this morning i unplug the phone at 100% battery.. than after receive 4-5 email, FB n Twitter (30mins without notification) email check every 1 hr after 108mins or 1hrs 40mins, it just drop to 99% its ok i think but after 99-98% its so fast, receive 1 email, n just standby 10mins, and its drop 1%.. i think the first 100-99 is soo long lasting but 99-98 is too fast..

my long day review..
once again my review about battery issue in samsung galaxy s2
ROm: litening 6.0
Kernel: Speedfrey 2.2.0

for 7 hrs 20mins
Test Condition: Normal use, sms 5-7, Bluetooth On (connected to my headset), music via bluetooth (10-15mins), 3g on, FB 30mins, Twit 30mins, email 1hrs (push email on receive 4 email), brightness auto..

total consumption 48%

maybe we can trust sgs2 only 14-15hrs a day.. if you go to work at 9 n come back home at 11 maybe now your battery will empty.. or less than 30%..
