QUOTE(lch78 @ Aug 10 2011, 11:28 AM) For those using Mac, I have a solution for you to use ODIN without changing your computer. Download and install the Oracle Virtual Box here. Read the instructions. Then install windows inside the virtual box and you can run it on top of your Mac computer, and you can install all kind of windows software inside and use it like in actual windows computer. Of course, you ll need to windows installation CD. Likewise for those who wants to try OS-X/Linux on your windows, it is the same process. Or can use Heimdall if you're adventurous enough to do so. I used it during SGS1 coz of my ROM downloaded PC was Linux. http://www.glassechidna.com.au/products/heimdall/

QUOTE(ltwvince @ Aug 10 2011, 02:20 PM) Normal you say.. hmm... You got any facts to back up that claim? BTW, is not little blueish.. I aspect it to be white and not blue when it suppose to be. For me is not normal as all my other phones with this so call Super AMOLED Plus have this blueish tint issue. Get a photo of the phone, then we can anonymously decide whether it is blueish or otherwise. And do you have any other Super AMOLED phone to compare with? QUOTE(waveweaver @ Aug 10 2011, 02:26 PM) Get the fact right dude. ONLY SGSII use Super Amoled PLUS. All other phone are using either Amoled OR Super Amoled :-P But you can always bring take your phone back for and exchange if you feel your screen was defect.!! Exchange? Then he will get one with yellowish... Added on August 10, 2011, 2:30 pmQUOTE(cadmus @ Aug 10 2011, 02:27 PM) i've checked usign the code when i received the phone. The color is balance, bright and crisp when i looking at it directly. I didn't try looking from an angle.. So, should i be worried about it? wanna know at what severity should i send my phone for warranty. If you're concern much about this, just go to SME and compare with other unit. That's the only thing that can be done IMHO. This post has been edited by Bugeca: Aug 10 2011, 02:30 PM

QUOTE(supermac @ Aug 10 2011, 05:27 PM) The one you flashed ZNKG5 is the only chinese 2.3.4 ROM which is a bit buggy and for China Mainland. The latest official chinese ROM is ZSKG2 which is 2.3.3 and it is a Hong Kong version (I recommend this ROM).

QUOTE(lowyatlurker @ Aug 12 2011, 11:53 AM) sad, flash the latest batista rom 3.5 with angelrom kernel 22 yesterday, the battery is not ideal at all. with 3g and wifi turned off but phone standby, battery dropped 3% for 2 hours, which i normally get 2% dropped on 8 hours previously...any suggestion which rom i should get next? battery is my main priority..benny did suggest cognition You're changing the ROM too fast for the battery to settle down.

QUOTE(lowyatlurker @ Aug 12 2011, 11:58 AM) really? do you mean i need to stay down and observe first? i did battery calibration. Added on August 12, 2011, 11:59 amor should i change kernel? Yup you need to do a few battery cycle then monitor the level. My practice for every kernel change is charge to full, wipe battery stats, let it dry and then another full charge without the wipe. Then I can gauge the performance of the kernel and ROM from there on. Edit: The dry method is not idle only, you can whack it until it beep-beep till it dies. QUOTE(lowyatlurker @ Aug 12 2011, 12:06 PM) but saw you using ninpo kernel right now? is it much recommended? and is launcher got anything to do with battery drain? another problem, after flash to latest 3.5 version without wipe, i notice i got android os bug, it consist of highest battery drain which normally is display, thanks in advance. I can't undervolt my phone to my desired level when using Angelom. But the new version #22 has ntfs module which is very useful for USB otg but Ninpo serves me well at the moment. Launcher does not effect your battery, widgets is... especially the social network-blog type of widgets (need to adjust the update interval accordingly). Android bug, more hype than a true fact for me. Since KDD till KG6, I have that in the top three position in batt stat percentage. Another note, I just spent a few minutes on the phone, then the "Android OS" will drop. Idling, it increases.

QUOTE(destEX @ Aug 12 2011, 12:27 PM) ntfs module? means for the new angelom u can format ur microsd card in ntfs? I think it's for OTG function. Since there is no official change log for this kernel (maybe in Italian forum), you can head to LeoMar rom thread, maybe there is discussion on this kernel. Added on August 12, 2011, 12:37 pmQUOTE(lowyatlurker @ Aug 12 2011, 12:27 PM) using adw launcher pro actually, calender, simiclock, battery monitor, calender(sync off), weather(sync manually), widgetsoid. thats it... How about remove it all and adding it one at a time. So you can monitor the battery usage. This post has been edited by Bugeca: Aug 12 2011, 12:37 PM

QUOTE(Guardian @ Aug 12 2011, 01:07 PM) actually is it safe to fully drain the battery? Read that Li-Ion shouldn't be drained completely, just curious as others suggest this way to calibrate the battery as well This is a shortcut method for me to check the kernel and ROM performance. You can do without fully drain but requires more charging cycle to get the optimum reading. I'm seldom doing it , only when I change the file system or kernel.

QUOTE(law_yew_wooi @ Aug 12 2011, 03:54 PM) Does custom rom has a2sd? I don't mean the native a2sd, but the a2sd+ that comes with rom when u have to partition your ext sd card... I don't see the custom rom that I installed has that function All the SGS users never care about it anyway. What you gonna do with your 2GB if everything move to another partition / device?

QUOTE(Teng N @ Aug 14 2011, 12:48 PM) Samsung dive won't work with CM and MIUI ROMs. In fact when I was with solarflare s2, Samsung dive fails on me as well. When I pressed remote control it did not response. I does not know. If it was my own problem since solar is based on Samsung framework. It depends on the Chef whose cook the ROM. It need more than framework to make it work. Some of Samsung apps needed in the System/app folder to make it work. Apps like signin.apk, wipereceiver.apk etc. Lookout Security is another good alternative. This post has been edited by Bugeca: Aug 14 2011, 01:16 PM
