QUOTE(farizshj @ Dec 11 2011, 11:06 PM) hi guys....im really new to all this smartphone kinda thingy....after a year using sony ericsson satio(boring), i decide that i may wanna buy a smartphone.iphone n all that is out of the question because its quite expensive.im a gaming kinda person,so i dont fancy all those blackberry's...which is the best android phone in the market today? my budget is around RM1500-RM1700..they say the samsung galaxy s2 is the best but are there any android phone which is on par or better than a samsung? On par,- HTC sensation/sensation XE (but i heard got many manufacturing defects) - Motorola Razr - Samsung galaxy nexus - Samsung galaxy note Slightly lower, - Motorola Atrix - LG optimus 2x(laggy on stock ROM but custom ROM ok) Added on December 11, 2011, 11:21 pm QUOTE(reveur @ Dec 11 2011, 10:52 PM) I am actually looking for budget around 700. I do not intend to spend too much on it due to the fact that phones are outdated fast. I notice that SE are trying to improve, all their 2011 xperia line-up will get ICS update. So I think mini pro will be fine for uI looked at SE Mini Pro due to the fact that it has keypad and the review that have been going around are not bad. But i have been told that SE n Nokia are dying and a lot of other rumours which does not help me at all. The few things that I prefer are available for my phone is QWERTY Smart Phone Decent Camera Vid Conferencing available is a + This post has been edited by danielcmugen: Dec 11 2011, 11:21 PM |

i admire the motorola razr because of its looks....but what sets this phone apart actually?? Added on December 11, 2011, 11:34 pm
On par, - HTC sensation/sensation XE (but i heard got many manufacturing defects) - Motorola Razr - Samsung galaxy nexus - Samsung galaxy note Slightly lower, - Motorola Atrix - LG optimus 2x(laggy on stock ROM but custom ROM ok) i notice that the nexus is expensive,rm2k n above rite?....mybe out of budget....in ur personal opinion ,which the best bang 4 the buck?i dont prefer the slightly lower ones
What sets the Razr apart is the locked bootloader? Need to S-off the phone in order to root. Also they need time to program something for u to S-off your phone, so custom roms will only come later? Not sure can S-off with the XTC clip or not Actually hard to say which 1 best bang for the buck, got pros and cons. Better go for which design u like and also whether u wanna root/play with custom roms or not. Also, u should have a look at the differences between galaxy S2 G version and non-G version in their official thread(1st pg) Added on December 11, 2011, 11:45 pm
Ok thanks! Last thing though. Is there any visible or inheritantly known problem about the SE? Added on December 11, 2011, 11:35 pmOk thanks! Last thing though. farizshj,
custom roms is like u errmm...install a custom rom of your choice according to your taste? Can do tweaks based on your taste, maybe can improve battery life also...overclock also can. Stock ROM usually can't customise too much, just homescreens...launchers...widgets all those. But there's a wee bit of chance that it might brick your phone if u made a mistake while flashing custom ROM. So if you're fine with the stock 1, there's no need to flash it. Anyway, i dun really know much about these stuff either...hopefully some sifus will help u in this. Perhaps ask this in android general questions thread? Anyway, I think people say samsung is the best is just because it has now became a trend or something. I mean it's not exactly the best of the best. HTC's build quality is still better than samsung. It is a long story to tell actually, all phones got its ups & downs. Here, Samsung - Has somewhat became a trend now, wins in specs and smoothness. The smoothness is due to the user-interface(Touchwiz) because it is quite near to the stock vanilla UI. But build quality is not that good. HTC - Got a very nicely done stock user-interface(HTC sense), thus slowing down the phone as it eats more RAM. Good build quality. Not so good camera. Motorola - I don't really know much about this I just explained it in a way that i don't take rooting/flashing custom roms into play, and I can't be too sure if all of the above are correct This post has been edited by danielcmugen: Dec 12 2011, 01:10 AM |

QUOTE(kirovX @ Dec 29 2011, 12:25 AM) 1. Preferred brand: samsung/sony ericsson Galaxy W, but I dunno bout its durability. It will lag a wee bit if u multitask a lot/play certain good quality games. If u want durable, u can go for SE xperia active. U can check their official discussion thread for more info on batt life and all that 2. Budget: around rm1k 3. Specs: processor - at least 1ghz ram - at least 512mb 4. What I need in the phone: good durability, no lag, good battery life So far these are in my list: se mini pro, se neo v, samsung galaxy w and sgs plus I'm not really sure about the price range of these devices.. I hope my budget can get me a decent one as i have not changed my phone for many years and this will be my very first smartphone. Feel free to recommend me any other brands that you think it's good. Specs: at least 1ghz processor with confirmed ics update 4. What I need in the phone: good performance and not laggy So far I've narrowed my choices to Google Nexus S, Galaxy W and Galaxy S Plus. I'm wondering if i can get a dual core processor at the price of 1k(maybe a little more)? The Mototrola Atrix looks quite decent to me but I don't know the price now... -HTC sensation (Last time I heard that this phone got a lot of manufacturing defects, now dunno still got or not) -LG optimus 2X (Laggy on stock ROM, but custom ROM ok) According to LG, the optimus 2X will get ICS...no news of ICS on sensation yet.
