Overall build quality is a little cheap. If that doesn't bother you then go for it. The specs is rather high for the price you're paying so its not a bad choice.

There are still many unresolved issues on the Optimus 2x and despite it being a dual core phone, there are a few that have stated that it's laggier than single core phones. Uncle Benny can vouch on this.

1. Brand: Prefer Samsung or Sony Ericsson or Nokia
2. OS: Android/ Bada/ Etc
3. Camera: 5MP/8MP with flash; at least better than SE W902 camera
4. Budget: 800-1000
5. Etc: Prefer Ori set only

my wife want to use the phone for taking pictures, web surfing and some other general use of the phone.

I guess you should wait for the Motorola Droid 3. The Droid 2 is a single core. If you don't mind then its okay.

Other brands like HTC/Samsung don't release much QWERTY phones.
