I've narrowed down my choices between the HTC Sensation and Samsung Galaxy S2. Coming from a HTC Wildfire, I'm a little worried that I may not be used to Samsung's UI. But I did try it out for a short while a few days back and it seemed alright. However, based on what I've read here, it seems that you really need to root the S2 to get better performance.

My other concern is build quality. The Sensation seems more solid in hand while the Galaxy S2 felt so light and plasticky!

Any comments?
*
if performance is important, S2 is the way to go.
as for the build quality, just get a rigid and weighty case for it.

not much fantastic 3g tablets out there:
samsung galaxy tab 3g (p1000), but its only 7"
viewsonic 10s 3g, only running gingerbread.

asus transformer is popular, but no 3g built in.
it might support 3g dongle, but u have to hack it.

or u can get a mifi.

SGS vs SG SLCD vs S Plus.  Is SGS considered 'obsolete' since it's discontinued?  Is SLCD and S Plus worth their price?  So few people use them.  Good dev support?  Accessories totally same as SGS?  Thanks.

Actually what is /k/?
*
SGS has the best dev support because its been around long enough. if u like to mess around with ur phone, custom rom and stuff, SGS is a good choice.
since u are looking at the galaxy family, can consider the nexus s as well. so when google comes with ice cream sandwich before the end of the year, you can update it soon smile.gif

afaik, there's a sub forum for i9000(SGS) and i9003(SL) on xda, but none for the i9001(plus) yet.

icic. aiyo bro, over my budget le...cheaper alternative got?
*
out of the four phones u listed, the U8510 X3 seems to be the best.
but since its huawei, perhaps u can consider looking at the huawei sonic.
its rather new, so not sure whether there are any issues/problems with the phone,
but the price and hardware looks reasonable.

there's also the ZTE blade.

I know this is Android thread and I for one using Desire.
Just that I was thinking to change phone and wondering what would you think between the upcoming iphone 5 and sgs2? Which one should I go for?

I hope to get unbiased suggestion if possible.
*
how do u expect to get unbiased responses where there's no confirmed info about the iphone 5 in the first place?

Ok, after digging deeper for Wildfire S, you guys were right. Better fork out few more to get better phone. So I am extending my budget to around RM1300 max. Any recommendation? Is Samsung Galaxy SL and HTC Desire S any good? Which one is better?

Thanks!
*
since you were looking at the wildfire S earlier, i think the desire S is a good pick.
It has better specs, but is similar to the wildfire in terms of looks and design.

only nexus ,captivate or infuse have the search button iinm
*
those models have all the four android buttons because they are specific versions made for google/US carriers.
models for the general market have less buttons to have that *ehem* simple iphone outlook.

definitely..but sad see that Xiomi M1 just have 3 button just like Samsung phone..
*
i was looking this up and apparently, if u press and hold on the menu button on the s2, u get the search function.
and if u double press the home key, u get a voice command function.

i heard there is a new SE called Live with walkman .. sounds cool when is that coming to m.sia?
*
the Live is slightly bigger, should be X8 kind of size instead of xperia mini size.
but the soonest i guess it will be available is towards end of the year.

thinking of changing phone, I found a used Htc Desire, selling at a very reasonable price. but the downfall is that phone is already 1 year old. Therefore, is it worth for me to get that or should i just get a new wildfire s?

Thanks!
*
how much is the desire you found?
if its not less than Rm800, you might as well get a new Huawei X5 or CSL mi-400 like darkknight said.

I think its an A6 proc. Worth going for it over mi-310 or others though.
*
its an arm V6, which is arm11, same cpu design commonly used in those 600-800mhz phones.
not sure though if its qualcomm made with the adreno 200.

i believe the new galaxy Y and W phones are cheap affordable phones with good speed (performance) but weak display, screen, camera and cheap plastic body. depends on your needs.

confuse between the galaxy note and galaxy nexus...which is a better choice? i like the note s-pen but i like the nexus zero shutter and the smoothness of the phone...
*
just add a small little pen and everyone goes wild brows.gif
the pen is nice, but do you really need it or u just lust for it?
what's your smartphone usage pattern?
do u watch youtube/videos/read book/surf facebook/website more?
i doubt you need a pen for that hmm.gif

of course the other selling point is the still OK pocketable screen size.
