If you need a headcount for Ford Fiesta, I have a poll+database set up on Google Docs. Makes realtime updating easier.

user posted image user posted image

Currently the Fiesta portion is going to overlap with the existing one, so might need to get clarification on this.

Cool, can you make one for the rest of the vehicles I mentioned according to my list too? You can just make it more generic... ie: Focus compile to 1 group. Would that be a hassle?

I can make a poll based on the following model groupings (inclusive of the buttons) but I'll need some time since it's currently peak period for me in the office. Lots of late nights as well as working over the weekends.

Ford Focus
Ford Mondeo
Ford Everest + Ranger + S-Max

A week should suffice.

Yeap, his spreadsheet will be used once he's done with all the Ford makes lol, I don't know how to even link it with the picture...

So now, spreadsheets should be as follows:

Ford Fiesta
Ford Focus
Ford Mondeo
Ford Everest + Ranger
S-Max + C-Max

Any objections? =)

Link code for Ford Fiesta as below.

CODE
[url=https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dHRmenpjTFBsOVNfcUpLeXE5NWRmOFE6MQ][img]http://i921.photobucket.com/albums/ad58/ac06950/00_General/Miscellaneous/ford_input.png[/img][/url] [url=https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ArDay4yY767ydHRmenpjTFBsOVNfcUpLeXE5NWRmOFE&hl=en_GB][img]http://i921.photobucket.com/albums/ad58/ac06950/00_General/Miscellaneous/ford_output.png[/img][/url]

So the Ford Fiesta list that is currently up can be removed. Saves space, time and also easier to transfer if we ever get to v2, v3 and so forth.

PS: I'll leave it up to you guys for the grouping. Just let me know if it is final.

anyways, can i drive the break-in period like normal instead of not over 100kmh / not rev above 4k or something like that?

i read in another car forum, this owner take his new car (less than 2 kms on the odo and whack 200 kmh and rev redline). his car is the SDrive35i Z4 on z4post.

Hello.. is there any Ford Mondeo owner in here?
Yesterday I encountered a Ford Mondeo in Shah Alam. I saw it has a fantastic launch from standstill. I was driving a MB c-class at that time, i tried to give chase but i was surprised that i had to floor my throttle just to to get closer to it throughout that brief encounter. The car's got fantastic acceleration.

So i want to ask if Ford Mondeo Ecoboost is out in the market already? Would like to give it a test drive then.. hehehe

Anyone here submitted to the poll with the user ID "test"? Looks more like someone made a test entry. If it's just a test entry, I'll remove it from the poll result tomorrow morning before I leave for work.

Hi, i dun think stock Mondeo has fantastic launch from standstill. From my experience unless 1) the driver launch it when set in "sport" mode or 2) the car got some mods to it.......

Ford Mondeo Ecoboost 2.0 is schedule to launch in August 2011 and from what i know there is only one unit test drive car available in m'sia.

Personally, I really like the Mondeo Ecoboost 2.0 and it's a good car and worth to own one~ smile.gif

Thanks Diaz for the Focus code... Really thankful and glad to all of you who's showing support to this thread! Hope it grows even more, so help invite your friends who are already owners or soon-to-be owners for more car talks, especially Fiesta as I noticed.

Any suggestions for me to add to the first post of the thread? Maybe some useful links that I can pin up feel free to share. tongue.gif

You're in same consideration as mine. Last time also considering fiesta and mazda 2. They're actually depends on ur preference, what kind of driving style and feels that u like.
Why i chose fiesta:
1. Nicer interior design especially the centre dashboard, looks like transformer.
2. 6 speed dual clutch, (mazda 2 only 4 speed normal auto)
3. Voice control (eventhough it's a small add, but that's what make ppl around u amaze with ur car.)
4. stability control (mazda don't have)
5. Fuel consumption better than mazda (ths is frm online survey.)
6. More silent and comfortable ride than mazda(mazda develops more road noise) Ford also got noise but the engine sound. IMO, engine sound's nice actually.
7. Free 3 years service parts and labour.
8. It's a ford, quite few ppl use ford compare to Jap cars. And it got its own WOW features and design. ppl will look at u. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif Or i think they're actually looking at me kot haha... whistling.gif whistling.gif

And Mazda advantage:
1. smaller design, and easy to park (according to my gf)
2. no engine sound, (road noise only)
3. Since it's mazda, i think the spare parts are cheaper n 2nd hand value better.
4. Cheaper in price compare to ford.
5. The latest mazda 2 i think got dvd player with gps rite? (i think that's a plus one).
6. some ppl claim mazda speakers better than ford ( not sure though, coz mazda got 4 speakers while ford got 6)
7. If you're upgrading from proton or other Jap cars, mazda's easier to adept on the driving style coz it's a jap car. While ford driving style, need some time to adept back. At least for me. biggrin.gif

That's all, btw from my research online, Mazda 2 and Ford fiesta actually from the same base. Mazda shares some parts in mazda 2 with ford fiesta.

+1. Aizad said it all. Fiesta more powerful, better fc, better overall design and cheaper than mazda 2. Good enough for me... You see on d road now more n more fiesta's compared to mazda 2 already also. smile.gif

I've also compared them both before buying Fiesta, the 6 speed tranny and better NVH control is the main factor I buy Fiesta. Since I've bought the sedan, I also got 7 air bags and bigger boots without sacrifice much to the handling oR ride comfort of the car. Very satisfied customer.

The 2.3L Mondeo color names are taken from the Ford AU brochure since SDAC doesn't have them (only for the Ecoboost model). So there might be colors which might not be actually available in M'sia in the past but oh well...

ya, from my survey, fiesta's better than mazda 2. unless you're comparing with mazda 3 hatchback. it's more on luxurious. btw, one of the reason i buy Fiesta's there too many Jap cars. It's time to move on to European cars. hehe..

but the problem is where u can source the engine, and let who done this job, as you know swap engine involve alot wiring, later end up , aircon not work ,abs not work, it may cause a lot problem, better you find Bolt on turbo for 1.4 engine or swap the block and piston to 1.6 and port polish+ flash ecu, i saw taiwan motor magazine, few people done this, 140hp on manual is fun.

Hi Ken, I don't think you can upgrade the engine to 2.0 as the JPJ rule only allows to enhance 20% capacity of the current engine, which means you can only go for max CC is 1.6cc, unless it would not approve by them. Maybe do it underground. blush.gif

Most of the time I drive with the feet off the accelerator (where traffic conditions allow me to). Just let forward momentum move me on. And the Fiesta is so comfortable and quiet that I just don't get the urge to reach my destination quick, so I just cruise at below 3k RPM most of the time. People can smoke me in their modded Satria Neo or Myvi for all they like. I'm in a state of zen. XD

The whole Fiesta is very good with fc thing is really dependent on how you drive... and whether you're carrying passengers on a daily basis... for my usual driving style I my average is around 9.1L/100km, but if I'm really strict with my driving I can manage around 7.5L/100km... Bug's fc is usually 10+ if i'm not mistaken hahaha...

As long as there is zero traffic and can maintain consistent speed, it is possible. I did hit 5.96L/100KM for the period of 5/6/2011 - 18/6/2011. Distance traveled is 545.7KM on 32.526L Esso RON95 petrol. Fuelly shows it as 6.0L/100KM though due to decimal rounding.

Conditions back then was that I was working very late nights for two weeks straight (9pm - 11pm) and when going home, I used the LKSA highway onto KESAS and into ELITE. Road traffic hence was very clear. The only obstacle to truly hitting below 5.9L/100KM was the morning traffic from ELITE to NKVE (caused by backlog near the Shah Alam stadium).

my current average fc is 9.7L/100km....but it's slowly improving every 1000km, hopefully after the 10k service, i can get better fc.

But honestly, i'm not hoping much since my place got no highway, 100% stop and go traffic sweat.gif

John can read my mind.. smile.gif

the thing is, he is well aware my car is needed urgently since i have to pass my car to my sister since hers was stolen and now need a car urgently. last friday, i paid all my dues to the car and signed all required documents for the loan. the loan officer and i all paid him in cashier's order for the full sum already.

therefore, there shouldn't be a problem as he mentioned his boss also asked him to collect car earlier but he was waiting for the money.

fine

now money is in on friday, i asked him when can i get, thursday possible or not? he said friday 100% can get but thursday can't promise.

so i said fine since he need to
1. puspakom
2. tint
3. register

assuming he takes 1 DAY to do each task. now its wednesday and he said haven't even taken the car.

fofi manual driver here.

after driving it for some time, there is a few things that i don like ..

i) power window button at driver seat ... the position is kinda awkward and i usually have to use my left hand to press

ii) gear 1 locking ... not sure its a safety procedure or anything but the car needs to be in very slow speed if u want to change to gear 1 (even if u've full clutch) ...

still waiting my 10000km first service and will feedback to the mechanics about this

I think he meant that the location of the power button is awkward to the right arm that it is easier to use the left arm for pressing the button. I use my left arm to press the button as well, or angle my body to the left.

well lately i found that there are quite a numbers of focus ghia for sale, if there any existing owner here who can give some advice on this model?

i'm actually looking for a 2nd hand car, but not quite sure about this focus ghia. Perhaps somebody can give a little help here on the pros&cons thing?

Ford Focus is a value car for buy if u looking for best handling and Safety car. Secondhand price also very cheap compare to other same year and C.C car. But for sure,u may spend some money to change and repair those ware and tear parts after u owning the car,and those spare parts are a bit difficult to looking for compare to national car or Japanese car.
All is depend on what u want,if u want a Safety and fun car,Focus is 1 of the best car,if u wish to sold it out after 2-3 years and want higher resale value,Choosing a national or Japanese car is better.

Just have a test drive and then u will not buy any Jap car, the solid feeling is just not there, not to mention the handling brows.gif .. by buying ford u have to accept the following

1. harder to find sparepart
2. lower 2nd hand value
3. higher maintenance fees compared to Jap make
4. not every workshop knows how to fix ur Ford, even bonnet also they don't know how to open wink.gif

Unless he have to drive all his clients' car back one by one? Anyway, 8 working days is pretty much what I would expect regardless of what SA says. Anything faster than that I would consider as icing on the cake.

QUOTE(Dias @ Aug 7 2011, 10:45 PM)
1.5 weeks starting from car touching down on Malaysian soil is a more reasonable time frame assuming that no delays/glitches occurs (mine was ready to be collected after 8 working days upon arriving in M'sia but did not collect immediately since I prefer to collect on a Saturday). SA might also be busy attending paperwork for other clients as well. But if 5 days really can get the car, then that'd be great.[/url]

As the name implies...a benjol.

http://wheelworldreviews.co.uk/features/th...could-kill-you/

Googling "tyre bulge" (on image mode) will give you various images as well.

so it's like abnormal expand on the tyre rite??

Added on August 10, 2011, 9:22 pmsince, there's many tyre pro over here, so would like to post a question, although i havent get my car, but already thinking what tyre should replace the stock one in the future, i'm thinking of upgrading the tyre from 195 to 205 as not many brand of tyre suit fofi stock size, does it differs a lot?? given that rim size same. current considerations are michelin ps3 and bridgestone re001

Speaking of overseas, while I was at Anaheim/San Diego/Hollywood, most of the Ford marquees that I see are pickups (alongside GMC). Did see quite a number of Ford Fusions on the road as well but only two or three Ford Focus (roughly around that number when I was walking around). Taxis are the Ford Crown Victoria. Most of the private cars there are mostly Chevrolets, Mazdas, Honda Civics and Toyota Yaris. Lots of Kia as well but didn't check which model was it. Spotted 4 or 5 Chevrolet Camarros (2 yellow, 1 red and 1 silver).

Taxis in Vancouver are the Toyota Prius (different models for those needing larger vehicles though).

Guys....Can I go service my fiesta even though i haven't reach 10000km yet? Because the voucher says, maintenance interval : 10000km or 6month. I got the car for almost 6 month now but millage rite now is around 5100km. So no harm going for a maintenance service, rite?

It is 6 months or 10k km, whichever comes first. So it's okay to go for servicing even before clocking 10k km. Did mine at 7.8k km.

Nothing can be accurate as actual data though (i.e. actual distance driven vs amount needed to fill up till full tank).

Anyways, just a shout out here for Jim Tan. He is not my SA but he has helped me alot regarding getting my car (and for my sister) and has always been helpful even though he has 0 profit and nothing to gain from helping me.

Jim, you are  a good person and really a gem among the other SAs. Thanks man

alex, impossible, swift is not well known for its corners powers etc, while fofi is very well known for its cornering, i read that in many magazine, 2 or 3 if not mistaken, then jeremy review and also some taiwan review all say fofi cornering very good

there's always a compromise between sport and comfort..swift drive characteristic is go kart like hence it's loveable tuck in feeling at corners..but comfort wise, fiesta hands down

Swift sport handling imo is definitely better than fiesta... after putting strut bars I'm not sure. Normal swift is way worse...

Swift handling is better than the fiesta in corners. But the diff is, swift's giving good handling and control by sacrificing the ride comfort. WHile fiesta you're able to take corners and handle in comfort.
Plus, fiesta comes in traction control. so, i think it's a big plus for that. Taking corner in fast pace and at the same time, safely. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

swift is not bad in handling, at least in normal speed, but I think Fiesta will win in high speed.

Test drive fiesta s this afternoon, really thumbs up for it's handling and braking capability as well as very good in absorbing all those malaysia no 1 pots hole.
Fiesta handling is way better than proton with lotus handling....smile.gif

All the safety features, versatile head unit with bluetooth, powerful engine, door lock with a touch of a button, follow me home light.

Only thing is the rear seat is so straight at 180 degree........i do not want to seat at the rear for a long distance drive.

Anyone knows of any Ford Escape discounts for this person quoted?

I have some ideas using Google Sites as a one-stop info site for LYN Ford fans but will need to learn how to use it. Maybe a list of service centres, review sites relating to Ford (websites and youtube videos), embedding Fuelly sigs for Ford users to share FC, hypermiling tips collated from the net that is applicable to Malaysian traffic situations, etc. Of course, it depends on whether the ideas are workable though and might take awhile to do in view of workload and learning curve as well as scouring the net for any usable info. Think of it as a pet project. No promises though on whether it will materialize. LOL!

my ride already clock 1500 km . First at all, I should bring my car to service center for 1000km interval service . 1000km interval service only for checking/inspection right? nothing gonna be change

My life a bit busy this fasting month even on saturday I work until noon.

If I bring my car on 1800-2000 km , does SC still accept it? I just worried if gonna affect my warranty?

Did call customer service and they ask me to bring my car on Monday .

Anyone can share how long it take for 1k service ? any SC that got less customer?

Are the European and US countries' Fiesta using the Duratec Ti-VCT engine as well? Or are they still on Zetec-S?

Different review sites reviewed different Fiesta (reviews are all made 2008 and above). Some reviewed the TDCi version and another uses the Zetec-S version.

Just in case anyone's curious...

http://www.at.ford.com/news/cn/Pages/QA%20...w%20Fiesta.aspx

QUOTE
Q. What other advantages does PowerShift offer compared to conventional transmissions?

A. The Fiesta PowerShift transmission has a feature that we call โ€˜neutral idleโ€™. When you are stopped at a traffic light with your foot on the brake, in the โ€˜Driveโ€™, or โ€˜Dโ€™ gear mode, the clutches fully disengage. In a conventional automatic thereโ€™s always some torque on the driveline when you are in โ€˜Dโ€™ mode. With this technology, however, the clutches fully disengage when you come to a stop, and this helps to save fuel.

At night have to think about the driver behind you who have to stare at your third brake light though. Road courtesy.

well..grm my observation, most malaysian drivers always step on the brake pedals when staionary, but step on their accelerator pedal when approaching traffic lights frm yellow turning red doh.gif

Why is it wrong? Lol... It doesn't bother me (not that I do it, I always pull handbrake when stationary unless I know the light is going to be green soon.)

Well doesn't yellow mean to go faster? tongue.gif

ha ha..problem is malaysian driver approaching traffic light turned yellow wanna go faster...on a serious note better ditch that bad 'yellow mean to go faster' habit before innocent people or even yourself got killed

I actually prefer to go into N as I like to place my feet in a relaxed position instead of actively pressing the brake pedal. Only exception at traffic light is when I know the lights is going to go on green soon.

And accelerating on yellow is one way to kill FC. I prefer to just coast to a stop.

LOL! Currently have half tank left. I reckon that I can go for another 180km on one more bar before needing to refuel since I try not to let the tank go below 1/4 as it might put me in a bad situation if I suddenly get caught in a jam.

I have a benchmark distance for my tank meter to shape my driving habits. My average distance per day is roughly 60km, with a variance of 5km over and under the average. That gives me a good feel of what I need to do to meet the base and standard benchmark.

From full tank to 3/4, I need to clock a minimum 150km. From 3/4 to 1/2 must have another minimum 150km. From 1/2 to 1/4, I need around 180km. That gives me a 480km base distance on 31.5L (42L*3/4). Base on trend, I usually get around 490km-500km which is my standard distance and hence, standard benchmark (i.e. clocking somewhere in between is good enough).

Of course, that benchmark is based on Esso RON 95 and now I'm on Shell RON 95 (due to an ongoing project on testing various fuel and its impact on power and FC). I believe that there will be difference in the benchmark using Shell vs Esso's but I need more refills to establish that. The current tank has 5.658L of Esso fuel, hence I need to further dilute the Esso mix before re-establishing the standards. And since it's Puasa time, the traffic is less after I leave the office. That also skews my FC favorably which might not give me a true picture of the fuel's performance.

I'm aware that Esso and Mobil are both the same but I prefer to keep the names separate. smile.gif

The presence of Mobil in the table is kinda redundant anyway.

fofi stock speaker is only good on low volume and if you try to turn it louder then it's terrible but i've yet to mod my speaker bcoz it's not my 1st priority........ my advise to you if you wanna mod the speaker for fofi juz change the 6" speaker and remain the tweeter. nod.gif

normally is abt rm200 for 4 rims but spraying is not permanent and the paint can peel off by stone chips. so, if you want best result then you got to go for power coating and the cost is abt rm500 for 4 rims. smile.gif

Guys...my headlamp have water mark inside it, went to sc last saturday to do my 1st service and also to check on the headlamp, it turns out that there's another fiesta at that time facing the same problem. The sc took some photos of the headlamp and will send it to autoconexion, hopefully they'll replace it with new ones. Has anyone here experience the same thing?

Just bought my wife a Fofi HB..will arrive soon. Damn I wish I can get that car. Driving a 2009 City now.

Anyone know any dealer with good discount for Ford Focu TDCI?

Appreciate your input.

Btw, Bug = ken_erai?

How much (RM) for:
1. Arm rest
2. Steering face plate cover
3. Pipercross induction kit/K&N induction kit - whats the difference?
4. LED brake lights set (if have picture)
5. Mudflaps
6. Door visors

Cheers

I'm pretty sure it's made in malaysia. There's a sticker tag on the headlight showing "made in Malaysia".Maybe that's y got probs with watermarks. But, as it's made in M'sia, shouldn't take long to replace. whistling.gif

when locking your car, pls observe and make sure that both repeater lights on side mirror blinks twice as it folds. if you armed your alarm, and the mirror folds but the repeater lights didnt blnk, means its not properly locked or door not properly closed

you want to test alarm is simple

follow this step -
1) Wind down your window
2) Lock your car
3) unlock from inside ( through your winded window)
4) Open the door

voila - the alarm will ring

I think my Bluetooth connection using an iphone to fofi is
1. Switch on bluetooth on phone (assuming your car is started and ready)
2. Then on car, select AUX > Bluetooth
3. some lady will speak
4. On phone which already started searching will show a Ford Audio (or something similar)
5. Click that and the lady speaks again asking you to input the Passcode
6. Input passcode on the phone and Tada... done...

This is valid for iPod and Phone function smile.gif

Got a few questions
1. The ipod have to use their cable into USB and 3.5mm right? Can't just use the USB?

2. The voice commands for next song is? smile.gif
*
on no. 2, wouldn't it be faster if u just press fast forward button on your steering control?

anyway, forgot to check my tyre pressure when collecting my car. it was over inflated! no wonder the ride was rough....

so future owners please check your tyre pressure when collecting!

you want to test alarm is simple

follow this step -
1) Wind down your window
2) Lock your car
3) unlock from inside ( through your winded window)
4) Open the door

voila - the alarm will ring
*
thank you, and I just found out that we cannot lock the car when then either front door opened, the mirror just don't fold

I mostly drive around 110kph - 120kph. That puts me within the 2.6k - 2.9k RPM range. Only once I intentionally did a short 10 second burst to 160kph to test the NVH and stability (was totally impressed though).

When i got my car, the ride was harsh due to the translation of road imperfections into the car. On normal smooth highways and its fine but then on imperfect roads its really bad.. thinking its part and parcel of the "sports" suspension, i let it be.

last night i wanted to check my tire pressure, and i filled it to 225 kPa which is roughly 33Psi. but the tires were all 300 kPa on average

OMG... super over inflated!!!

My tyre pressure was also well over 40psi when i first got it, and I only notice it after 4 month. Damn, all the while i thought the harshness was because of the sport suspension sweat.gif

i might go for 33 as i like slightly harder (and more durable as it would last longer before dropping to 31 which i think is the minimum)

i also forgot to check my tyre pressure after collecting, and thought the bumpy ride was "sport tuned" =_=||

it was over 300kPa!!

anyway the recommended tyre pressure is on a sticker at the front passenger side. open the door and look down near the pillar, there is a sticker there.

Hello to all the Fiesta sifu's here.

Got a noob question. Really like the Fiesta. What is the current interest rate for owning a ford? Anyone care to share their Fiesta D/P, Monthly installment & Interest rate? As well as loan period.

Thanks in advance.

Guys...i'm experiencing something weird when ever I fully turn my steering to the left or to the right, they'll be a "tuk" "tuk" sound which I think coming from the driveshaft. And there's also a slight juddering feel on the steering. Now, that's not suppose to be normal, rite? Anyway, I think I'll go to the SC tomorrow to check on it and also to check on my headlamp replacement.

It is between 2.6-2.7 i guess. i got smack in between for a RM50,000 loan at 2.65% p.a..

Anyways, just want to ask any of you know how to modify the "not-so-secret-anymore" compartment to a push release type instead of the one way panel it is now? hmm.gif

Interest rates varies from time to time. A 5-yr loan last year with Maybank was 2.97% back in November 2010 (on a 40k loan) and would be different this year.

Just my two pence.

I don't keep coins in the car as I use the TnG for tolled roads and I always keep some coins available in my pocket. But I guess if anyone wants to carry along coins for let's say parking fees, maybe just keep them in a coin purse and place them in the crevice under the air-con knobs.

Never used the right compartment since it's quite deep and a hassle to reach in. I prefer to keep things in the side pockets instead.

It is actually the compartment below your Radio controls. the silver plastic there. it can be pried open with some elbow grease (or ruler or broken nails).

i dunno, i just put it where my mickey sits, below the "card holder" on the centre console. i only got 1 50c coin there though thumbup.gif

Yes I think he is referring to that... You just need to take out the metal fastener that keeps it together, after that you can open and close as you like, but its not practical as it's very deep in and there's a hole behind I think.

last time , Tmn Midah SA offer me rm8k for TDCi 2011....

surely 2012 ford focus is coming to our land but i'm bit confident that SDAC will introduce petrol version first..after 1-2 only they come out with turbocharged diesel

most probably we might get ford focus 1.6 ecobossst

all new ford focus surely cost expensive compare to current TDCi.

cheaper diesel for better mileage plus huge tork , that the main reason I got my self TDCi , some more I dont like new dashboard layout on new ford 2012.

another rival comin soon for ford focus tdci is hybrid diesel by naza, but not sure when..

Got a noob question. Really like the Fiesta. What is the current interest rate for owning a ford? Anyone care to share their Fiesta D/P, Monthly installment & Interest rate? As well as loan period.

Thanks in advance.

I think it is a good thing to let the outside air flow in through the air-con vents from time to time while driving. Our country has high humidity and mold can develop within due to condensation. Letting outside air flow in will help prevent that musty/mildew smell from occurring.

Of course, don't do it after a rain as the air humidity would be very high. A bright early morning (if it hasn't rain the night before) would be a good time to do so since it's cool. Or maybe during the late evening when it's already dark and the car's not too warm inside (also make sure that it did not rain earlier in the day). I like to air my vents while on the highway since at least the air coming in from the outside can act as a fan inside. Just make sure that the traffic isn't heavy or you'll be taking in exhaust from other vehicles.

I thought air cond blows air from outside too, just it's passed through the condenser. It's better just to maximize the fan once in a while for a couple of minutes to prevent and depository.

If you set the air-con to recirculate, it it recirculates the same cabin air (actually, it always lets in some fresh air). It takes the air it's already cooled down from inside the cabin and runs it through the evaporator again, making it even cooler. So in that sense, recirculate cools the car more quickly.

If recirculation is switched off, the ventilation system brings in outside air, and cools that down. So it takes longer to cool the car that way. Most of us don't use that anyway considering the air quality on our roads.

However, the parts that are in constant contact with the cool air would be where the condensation takes place and unless is aired out from time to time, that musty smell will develop after awhile. That's what I think.

Huh? A high tire pressure doesn't cause bad FC. It does kill the tires prematurely though besides a noisier stiff ride.

I know right! In fact its quite the contrary. Underinflated tires only give worse mileage. But I tested out my fofi on the Federal, speed all the way back with ETC SP7 with one passenger. FC remained at 8.5l/100km throughout. Usually if I do that alone, the fc will increase around 0.3l/100km... so... I'm quite pleased too haha.

And yes @confuzan, no more bumpy ride, its SOO much better now. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

hm..

actually under inflated and over inflated does effect the FC and performance of tires.

under inflated tires gives u terrible FC, it causes faster wear n tear on the side walls and heavier steering feedback.

over inflated tires may give u not so good fc due to the rotational mass of the wheels have increase. it takes more power n rotation to go one round. u get much lighter steering feedback BUT u get lesser grip. especially when u going over those yellow stripes. u will start skidding over them when u brake. n not to mention super duper bumpy ride.

laugh.gif haha i have tested n experience the above when i had my previous ride.

i think it should have fallen to the 2x psi figures sweat.gif

Im an engineering student so this is quite interesting to me... Maybe overinflated tires offer less frictional rolling resistance due to less surface area contact, but makes up for by increasing moment of inertia... But so far i did some googling everywhere doesnt mention anything that supports my statement. I'll try my next full tank of fuel first.

@baboon- its very important to check ur tire pressure as underinflated tires will increase fc n tire wear drastically. U cant see from just observations as the tire will look d same.

That's already 23 years old. Even with a 4k price tag, there's also the potential costs of replacing any worn-out parts. Don't know how the FC is like but cars back then aren't too fuel efficient compared to newer cars I think.

Ford Laser...now that's nostalgia. My father used to drive one (sedan). I think it was the KA/KB (1981โ€“1985) generation. Lasted I think around 13 years. Sold it off for a brand new Proton Wira sometime around 1994 or 1995 as the Ford's engine was constantly dying out while idling due to old age.

Hi ALeUNe! There's an online form on the first page that you can add yourself to the headcount. Just click on the Ford Focus input form button.

It's the nature of powershift, the first 2 gears are jerky.. My focus tdci also sluggish at first 2 gears but it's quite smooth if compared to fiesta dry clutch unit

Stuff I have modded to resolve this problem is... changing spark plugs, adding voltage stabilizer+ grounding and also electronic throttle controller from Bug Auto. biggrin.gif

Guys, anybody experienced the high 'instant fc count' for 1.6 hb fiesta? I got a reading accelerating from standstill to the first to gears at about 55 L/100km then 36L/100km then after the 3rd gear only the fc count will gradually lowered..and im on my 5/6th refuelling, the most i can get i 350++km per fulltank.. I accelerated quite slowly, changing gears at below 2k, but still the fc didnt improve.milage at about 1700++km..

Do i need to change the oil filter n engine oil? Or do i have to do something about my driving style? I think i've done all the tips from FCM and this really bothera me.

Thanx!

Thats normal since your engine haven't break in... but 350km per full tank is rather low. I changed my engine oil at 4.5k km and I think it really helps. Oil filter leave it for the 10k km free service change. Now I'm trying to maintain my fc at 7.0l/100km for this week... =D

bro, did it manage to resolve the jerking problem?I see from your pic that you're using erictioh's vs, i'm using the same thing and it really does help to smoothen the gear change but didn't really manage to to get rid of the jerking.

Keen eye tongue.gif You did both grounding and vs? I have a bit of jerking sometimes but its much less compared to the last time without any mods. The change of spark plugs help, also the "Electron Power" plug cables which act as a VS helps too. I think if more grounding points are added it would be better as eric only managed to find 3 points for fiesta 1.6. I would prefer 5 points though.

hey John91, after using ericteoh's VS. what would u say/compare to the other VS out in the market like pivot or hotinazma???

those are bloody expensive becus of their marketing; but does eric's vs really works better den the 2 above i mention?

hehehe, just noticed it...anyway, I only installed a vs because I also couldn't find a good grounding point. I agree that the jerking become lesser and the acceleration become smoother, also I've notice that the aircon becomes cooler as well.

I think if you are going to move very slowly, I mean very very slowly, like in bumper to bumper jam or parking lot, maybe you can switch on the hill climb assist button, to prevent your Fiesta changing gears prematurely, hence avoiding the jerking. But remember to smoothly control your right foot.

I have used both products (erictoh's and hotinazma) before and I can tell you that both products work well. Bug Auto is using full set hotinazma (type mr, hot earth and super pocket) while I am using erictoh's. Hotinazma's has either 5 or 8 grounding points (I forgot) compared to my 3 points. Hotinazma is a bit smoother overall IMO maybe due to these factors (I don't have super pocket too). I think you could drop by Cheras area to test drive both our cars if you want =p

But for the price difference, I rather get erictoh's because of budget restriction tongue.gif

Apprarently there are 3 points for auto, and 4 for manual apparently that eric could find. I'm going to ask my friend to find more points for me to ground, I think 5 is optimum. Btw, you need to chip off the paint before doing grounding else the electricity will not conduct properly to your car body.

already tried. on hilly roads like the highway to ipoh, it works well. cos it doesnt go into 6th, so u get more power when going uphill and overtaking. but in slow moving traffic, doesnt seem to make any difference cos i never reach 6th gear in traffic. and it seems to change gears like it normally would. tried using 'L', but that one holds the rev for too long, feels even rougher in traffic. sweat.gif now in traffic jam i just control using right foot only, try moving in slow traffic without shifting into 2nd. tongue.gif

I just went to ford center to look for Fiesta, but not sure whether i should go for it.. as the same price, i would get vios or city... since the resell value is more. Some more izzit my wrong perception?i felt fiesta is smaller than city. i mean the internal space

if resale value is your number one factor then go for vios/city.

if not, test drive all and choose the one u like to drive the most, then factor in your requirements (features, cabin space, boot space, storage compartments, etc).

as for cabin space, i would say it's adequate, but not spacious.

i adapted to the low gear driving on level ground and managed to keep it under control.

but it seems to behave rather erratically once i finished going up a ramp (high revs and not changing gear).

mine usually lose power when going up a ramp.. usually in multi-storey parking lots.. going up ramp, then suddenly it shifts up a gear, then lose power to climb the ramp.. so this is the only situation where i find the "L" mode very useful. sweat.gif

From 1st to 2nd gear change what is your usual rpm? Cuz mine is on a average of 2.8k change... and i'm already controlling it. If i lift my right foot up before that the car will have a slight jerk and noise.

i always retell people the same story how my dad bought fiesta...my dad was considering vios or city for good resale value....but i told him fiesta is better...he went to showroom...was impressed with the specs (voice control, phone etc.)...still doubting? we went behind to see the colours available....there he met his friend...who just bought a fiesta...she told us...she went to see vios and city but walked away because there weren't as good...that confirmed it for my dad =) actually ford resale value is going up...it is after all the most improved brand in malaysia...fiesta getting more common too...resale values are sure to go up

I think you need to reset the trip meter. Usually the car calculates the rate for current trip.

+1... The reason why some of you guys get high fc reading may be due to this. You need to reset the data everytime you pump petrol.

u have to understand that the units involved in FC calculation is distance covered and fuel consumed quantity. if u drive longer in start-stop traffic and shorter in no traffic condition, u still get FC a bit on higher side. u can always reset it to get more accurate reading.

Guys,

I'm interested to get Focus Ghia 1.8 2nd hand. It's selling around 50k for 2008 car.

Wonder why it is so cheap? Any major issue for this batch?
Any idea on the maintenance cost, spare part and FC?

Thanks.

8-9km/litre is impossible unless u are doing highway, the FC for the 1.8 is quite bad ( Around 11-12km/litre for city driving ).. don't forget this is a very heavy car for its class

Headlights not changing la... no projector also. Later kena JPJ. However I'm using Michiba super white 4350k bulbs now... Although it doesn't look super white, but its a bit brighter la...

Still contemplating whether to buy cheap or branded ones... Cheap ones I can get from 140-170 including installation, branded is 220... both also got warranty. Any ideas? unsure.gif

He was asking 8-9 liter per 100km (or 11.1km-12.5km per liter) and you were quoting 8-9km per liter. There's some sort of disconnect there.

The "8-9km/litre is impossible unless u are doing highway" sounds a bit off unless the measurements were swapped into per 100 liters which makes more sense.

interest rate depends on your credit rating, loan amount, and loan tenure.

should be around 2.6x ~ 2.7x currently.

Interest Rate 2.6X% - 2.7% Depending on Amount and Tenure;)

After August, BLR is expected to increase.. and HP will increase too;) Estimate 0.25%

14km/ 1 litre.

the most efficient they told is KIA piacanto, 40km/litre

i dont think so, if the kia picanto really 40km/litre, it means that it only use 2.5l per 100km.... assume that the fuel tank is 40L , full tank can goes up to 1600km..... even hybrid car cant go that much

prius and insight is thankful to get 22km/l.

Hey guys,

Wife's 2 weeks old FoFi engine sounds a bit loud during ignition/start-up, in my opinion. Is that normal? Checked with my sis-in-law 1 month old FoFi also has the same 'issue'.

Sifu please clarify. Appreciate it.

Yeah when closed those heavy doors, no noise. No la I was just asking, cuz my parents noticed when my wife parked her car at the porch, the noise is more 'evident' when I park my city and her C180k.

Hmmm hmm.gif

I think if they were real pipes they would be less efficient imo though.

"US CAR GIANT Ford is set to bring its My Key technology to the UK, much to the chagrin of would-be boy and girl racers.

My Key is designed to make Ford vehicles safer to drive and aims to help reduce the number of fatal accidents involving under 25 year old drivers.

The technology aims to offer parents peace of mind, as it allow parents to control settings via a master key, explained Pim Van der Jagt, managing director of the Ford research centre at Aachen.

He told attendees at IFA that excessive speed causes 30 per cent of all accidents involving young male drivers and 21 per cent of those involving young female drivers.

"MyKey has a number of features to help The top speed can be limited, depending on the settings, warnings will sound at 70, 90 or 100 kph. Driving aids such as park assist, lane departure warning, emergency assistance cannot be deactivated," he said.

"My Key also encourages sealtbelt use by activating a reminder chime and muting the audio until front passengers comply."

Parents will be relieved to hear that they will no longer have to experience a late-night call from stranded teenagers, as the feature also provide early low-fuel warnings. Drivers are warned when they have 120Km of fuel left.

However, teenagers who love their music loud might be disappointed to learn that parents will also be able to limit the volume of the audio system to minimise distractions.

Ford plans make My Key available to European drivers when it releases the Ford Fiesta in 2012, and it aims to make the feature standard. However, all is not lost, as 53 per cent of parents surveyed by Ford said that they would give their teenagers more access to the family vehicle if these settings were present.

No doubt, not many budding Michael (and Michaelline) Schumachers will be asking their parents to buy a 2012 Ford Fiesta. ยต

While it is nice to have safer cars, what we also need on Malaysian roads are safe/ethical drivers on the road and not Schumacher wannabes.

Hi,

I am soon to be a Fiesta owner. Currently doing research on small upgrades mainly the air filter part since its the cheapest to upgrade.

How does K&N's and Pipercross' drop in filter compare to each other performance and sound wise? I know the price for the K&N is around RM250(correct me if I'm wrong). What about the pipercross'?

Also I learned that bro John91 is using the induction kit from Pipercross. How much was it and how does it perform so far?
