Hello,

I'm quite new in this PC upgrades and currently building my system. I plan on upgrading my quad core q8300 PC to core i7 2600 k and p8z68-V for mobo.

I want to know what else that I need to change in my PC to make the system works other than RAM. I plan to reuse everything else from my current PC. I really on a budget.

I currently using cooler master GX 550 w. Should it be ok? . my current GPU is Gigabyte GTX 460 1GB.

I did both gaming and 3d modelling/rendering. I'm an architecture student. So i did consider taking i7 2600k instead of other processors e.g. i5 2500k. But my concern is, what else do i need change if I were to use my old pc components?.

Im goin to change my mobo to p8z68-V which support lga1155 processor and ram to ddr 3. Is there anything else that i need to change? . can my 320 GB Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM 3 Gb/s SATAII HD works for the new setup? . I only know basic stuff in this PC thingy. Not into that deep. Ideas and suggestions from u guys would really been helpful.

I think it's enough with 2600k and the mobo. If you want to overclock to reduce rendering time, you need to take high performance heatsink.

your harddisk will works fine but tt's better to add extra HD and RAM since u r using it for 3d modelling/rendering.

Thanks for ur explanation bro. I worried that i might have to use extra money for extra components to fit it in the new processor and mobo.
Since everything should work as fine, then I might as well continue my plan to upgrade.

p/s: I rarely got replies nowadays. been to two forums already to ask this, but none of them reply appropriately. sad.gif

is your hdd SSD? with SSD, its faster for loading time, since rendering usually use chunk of rams (and virtual rams)

no bro. its a normal one. probably for future upgrades. though, im still unsure about the benefits of SSD (Solid State Drive), is there any difference with the normal HDD? .
I just know its something to do with more secure memory? (correct me if im wrong)

Hmm hmm.gif . Quad core is really enough bro? . core i7 2nd generation is already out. I think im gonna give it a try. Time is catching up so quickly, imo,
quad core no longer working at optimum level considering the advancing of technology in games / 3d modeling/ rendering whatsoever. But good suggestions anyway notworthy.gif , my budget
currently enable me to get even 590 / 6990. But i think i stick with my original plan. smile.gif graphics would be way later bro. nod.gif

just a reminder, after you change mobo and proc, most of the time you need to reinstall window. so do backup of your file before changing them

Yeah. Thats wht i have been thinking bro. That might add up extra rm 300 - 400 to my budget.
Backing up files of course will be done before the upgrade. Thanks for the heads up! nod.gif

Can you point out examples why u r always over budget? I wanna know. Is it because ur upgraded PC required some parts to be installed or just pure lust
to upgrade to better hardwares? . nod.gif

Can add up to my budget. blush.gif

Upgrading processor is better compare to graphic card. Those rendering uses more processing power instead of graphic power.
