Hello Seniors and everyone ㅋㅋㅋㅋ I got in!! YEAY!
I'm waiting for JPA Engineering results. If I don't get it , I will continue in UTP..If I do get it , I will drop UTP but in the meantime I will pay the fees and wait ^^

Can't wait to meet the seniors and my interviewer hahaha...En Azman if I'm not mistaken ^^

btw, is PTPTN , MARA & JPA the only sponsorship available for private candidates?

You dont want to wait for ipta?
*
Nope....In my opinion, Better enter UTP than IPTA brows.gif

QUOTE(Thibs @ May 4 2013, 01:36 AM)

Nope, tons of other really. I have friends with scholarships from I-don't-know-where-and who. I know that PETRONAS, SHELL and petroleum based companies give scholarships to UTP students.

See you soon. smile.gif
*
LOL.. sweat.gif I thought Petronas doesn't give anymore? Only those who got the EduStar Camp are eligible in getting it cry.gif
Btw, do u think I ought to bring my own broadband to UTP? or the wifi around the campus is already sufficient?

You got under-graduate course or foundation?
*
I got both? I mean in the offer letter they wrote both. 1 year of foundation and 4 years of degree..

Since I am a 2012 SPM Leaver , I'm guessing the answer to ur question would be foundation smile.gif

UTM is ipta...you dont think of that University? it's quite good
*
Well,I've set my eyes on UTP & JPA only and I am not into ipta actually. Besides, most probably after a year of foundation , I'll take up a Scholarship to pursue degree in Australia.
Is UTM your first choice in ipta?

QUOTE(TK512 @ May 4 2013, 01:57 AM)
Ohh okay, so what is JPA Engineering then? Can we apply for JPA after with Form 5 result?
*
JPA Engineering offer's 4 countries. This is only for Engineering related.

Korea , Japan , France & German.
and yes, you apply after SPM Results...usually 1 week after exam already start applying and the duration of applying is not more than 1 week usually. smile.gif

Oh and you have to learn the foreign language (either one of the country) since it is not a English-based country

QUOTE(Thibs @ May 4 2013, 02:08 AM)
Really? Hahaha. I'm not sure bout that Petronas then. Err, WiFi around the campus ok lar, but see if you really need it or not cause sometimes really need to use broadband cause the internet sucks. Ask your seniors for internet hotspots, certain place in UTP got damn fast Wifi internet.
*
Aha~ Thanks for the advice ! thumbup.gif

yea UTM is my first choice in ipta..but hard to get into UTM TT....
*
Good luck dear!! biggrin.gif Hope you'll get it! ^^
So, ur not sure if you want to accept is it?
UTP refunds back ur money (not all ) but you can check the terms & conditions on it.

You can just go into UTP first and then if you get UTM, drop UTP ..^^

Anyways, Good luck! brows.gif

I have a few questions and I really hope it's not a burden to any of you or kinda like bothering any of you biggrin.gif

1.) How do the muslims perform prayer there? as in "berjemaah" ? or in the room?
2.) Is there any discrimination on not wearing a hijab for muslim girls? and is there any girls wearing a jubah instead ?
3.) I heard that it's hot in UTP. Any tips on cooling ourselves up? laugh.gif
4.) If we were to mail something , do we go through the administration or just go to the post office? Where is the nearest post office?
5.) What ATM Bank is available there? I know they do have but I haven't found anyone specifying it. lol. sweat.gif

I'm really sorry for the bombardment of questionssss notworthy.gif

and ehem~ any seniors brought their own car? wanna pinjam later..hahahaha....xD

1) There is a mosque. A big one. Or you could perform it in the room as well. Just find the kiblat smile.gif
2) No none. But there are Arabs that wear jubah.
3) Bring a stand fan. It is a must. Bring 5 liter water bottles, keep them filled up using the water dispensers available in around hostels. It is HOT, no kidding. Bawak payung. topi etc.
4) The is a postbox in UTP beside CIMB ATM booths. Yeah, you could go through administration - minta tolong la smile.gif
Nearest post office, Idk. Sorry, I never mailed anything.
5) Yes, there is a CIMB ATM booth and a stand alone Maybank ATM machine. Err, you can use MEPS.

Glad I could help. Blast me with more question if you want to. smile.gif

Thank you ~

1. there's a prayer room in almost all of the villages. village1 and v6 is quite near to the an nur mosque. but yeah you can pray in your room if u opt to.
2. nope but when they go to islamic studies classes they will idk whether it is out of respect to lecturers or just to avoid being embarassed by them  laugh.gif i can't understand your second question though, you mean no hijab but wearing jubah?  rclxub.gif
3. yea it's hot here maybe umbrellas will help, you can buy fans/aircon if u think the heat in your room is untolerable. there's a shop in taman maju (a town nearby) which sells standing aircon for about rm1k+. you can get fans at tesco. just a tip, no need the hassle to bring one from your home.
4. the post office is located below ground level, it's just beneath the library. so you can just post it directly to the pos malaysia guys.
5. cimb and maybank. cash deposit, cheque deposit machine and atm for cimb, maybank only got atm

no prob, spam all the way  thumbup.gif  i want to increase my post count >=D

rm80/day sounds nice to you he3
*
Thank you too! ~
----------------------------------------------

To both of my dearest senior ~
LMAO ! Tbh , I'm a muslim but mixed blood brows.gif I would wear jubah's instead of baju kurung and I'm not wearing a hijab. I wonder if that's a problem especially during Islamic Studies class?

I mean I could wear hijab during Islamic Studies Class but if the lecturer were to see me wearing non outside of the class , would it be a problem?

Would it be find if wear pants & a plain t-shirt to class? You know like daily life? As you guys mention it is HOT...OMG...........T________________T

Regarding the post office. I always send mails to oversea.I wonder if they do provide international mailing like those in the towns? Do you think they do?

Lastly (for now laugh.gif ) , is our classes air-conditioned or with fan? How about the dormitory room area? ^^

I am so sorry for asking a girls question to you seniors ~ Really hope to see you in a LYN Meeting sooner or later biggrin.gif

nope, no problem at all outside the class. i just want to give you the glimpse of how i see things work here smile.gif  when it comes to islamic studies classes, i saw none of them without hijab.
yep its okay, the only things i saw the guards strictly against are slippers/flip-flop. the same to tshirt but it seems they can tolerate with it if the student are a female. as told by my seniors the place was once a desset lookalike lol luckily they planted quite a lot of trees here

they do provide international mailing. one or two of my international friends ship some of malaysian stuff to their family. i also get my airmail from the poslaju office. duplex  thumbup.gif

dormitory = fan but all the classes got a/c even the tutorial ones
*
Ah~ Any of those girls who wore hijab during Islamic Studies classes doesn't wear it at other classes / outside?

LOL ...Flip flops biggrin.gif Nah~ I'll be wearing sandal the whole time or flats or shoes.... Thumbs up for the info's! thumbup.gif

YEAY! I can continue posting stuff to oversea rclxms.gif

Do we have any foreign language classes in UTP ? or maybe a Foreign Language club?
I took French & Korean classes before. Would love to pursue in it though smile.gif

yep, some of them. while the others just keep wearing it for the whole day

no sandals iinm.. they want footwear that covers the toe. for lab classes you won't be allowed in if u don't wear shoes. just some insight

utp does have foreign language classes but i knew very little of it. this is the info on utp's website

Language & Communication Unit

"The Language Unit offers English language courses at the Foundation and Undergraduate levels. These courses comprise of proficiency as well as English for Academic Purpose courses. There are currently 14 lecturers attached to the unit. In addition, the unit also offers Intensive English courses for International students intending to pursue Foundation and Undergraduate courses in UTP. Besides English courses, the Language unit also offers Arabic, Mandarin and French courses as electives."

Awwwwww.. cry.gif I guess I'll go with shoes the whole day......lmao..Thanks again biggrin.gif
Yeayyy! There's French <3

Oh btw, have you ever used western union service by the pos malaysia in UTP? or international money order? *awkward question*

Hey seniors! biggrin.gif Just wanna say thank you for all your help and time in answering my silly questions here~

I got JPA and decided to take that offer up and I'm officially a non-UTP-ian now. :C Kinda sad though. It was a memorable journey...Although only 2 weeks in there.

With the scorching heat =='' Paprika being so farrrrr....it was fun... (except some parts in the orientation weeks)....lol...

I hope to visit UTP again in the future icon_rolleyes.gif I've yet to swim in the Swimming Pool biggrin.gif
