Hey everyone,

I was there at the EduCamp for the interviews.  It was alright.  But during the briefings, it was said that some students had successfully gained overseas internships with companies like Shell, Schlumberger, etc all around the world. 

But it wasn't clearly explained, like, what type of students had gone overseas to intern?  Petroleum Geoscience? Chemical Engineering?  Also, how many had gone on average?

Erm, I don't need any statistics..  But from your experience, what have you seen thus far?

Hello, I got KIV for my Foundation in engineering application, does that mean Im rejected or still have some chance to get admitted?

So i have to start packing clothes and stuffs for registration day?

or maybe i can go back home everyday after it ends during the orientation weeks?

Curtin in Sarawak offers PE, quite reputable. Not UTP but it'll do. Besides that there's only UCSI which is the shittiest of the 4 unis that offer PE. (UTP>UTM>Curtin>UCSI)

Btw FOR NOW, there's no OQ (other qualification i.e. A levels, STPM, etc) intake due to lack of facilities and hostels to accommodate as many students as we currently take in, but that may change in the future.

I myself am from matrics, not UTP foundation. I think their refusal to take any more OQs is stupid; UTP has too much faith in their own foundation products lol.

Can I apply for Petronas Sponsorship June 2014 using 2014 UTP foundation Sam 1 result or do I have to complete 2014 foundation???
I am not successful using SPM 2013 result.

Hey guys . I am an international student hoping to apply to UTP for an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering with my alevel results, so, i would like to know more about the quality of their mechanical engineering program and since the only intake next year is in May 2015, i would have to decide whether or not to go before i get admission notifications from the other universities i am going to apply to  which are UTM, MMU, UNITEN and UTAR(my last possible option).
So, can someone please help me to decide whether to go to UTP or not     

Hey all. I wish to reach out to UTP students taking/taken the ICT course. I want to hear your personal experience. I have 4 questions:

1. How are the majority of your course mates: tough, competitive? laid back, ignorant?
quite competetive. But as u know ICT in UTP is minorrity course bcoz UTP more towards eng.

2. Though I don't expect every lecturer to be good, but overall do you think you're receiving quality education?
i'm from ICT at the same time electrical engineering in UTP.
ICT have best lacturer compre to other course. Friendly, easy to approach, do lot of jokes in class

3. Environment: is it conducive for study? 
you only have 4 month to finish per semester,what if you take 6 subjects? this is what i dont like about UTP.
NO LIFE.


4. Of yourself: Do you think you have a bright future where you stand?
Yes . Most of my friend from ICT have more better work placement compare to engineering.
MOst of them placed in Oil and Gas company. (PETRONAS, Schlumberger, HAlliburton, Baker)

Its almost end of October but they dont open the admission yet.. Hoping that they will open some engineering courses for undergraduate intake Jan 2015 as May14 only offer Bis n IT.. T_T ...

The entry requirements for engineering in UTP is minimum C for Maths, Physics, AND Chemistry in pre-u. Let's say I get at least C in Maths and Physics, but lower than a C for Chemistry. But I also take a fourth subject, Economics, and I got minimum C for this subject. So basically I meet the entry requirements, but not for Chemistry.

Do you all think I can try applying? Would they allow exceptions like this? Economics is also a strong subject, one of the core subjects in pre-u.

Really? But, based on this web page, those who intended to pursue their undergraduate engineering programme in UTP are able to do so by having at least an A-level or STPM qualification as a prerequisite for their admission in UTP.

In any case if I've misinterpreted the statement in the given link, then please correct me. Thanks.

Do you know whether students studying engineering in other local private uni's, can they transfer to UTP after having started their degree?

No it's not true. UTP is still taking in students with STPM/Diploma/A-level and equiv. for engineering studies.
