I think the 7.1 surround is very good! I would give an Ace for such film produced in Asia. The sound stage is very clean and detail, effect is clear and the gun fighting scene would draw u into the scene!

Dear m_v, how about the sound effects? Very good?
The one sapu all 13' oscar award "Gravity", movie is for sure good but the effects is very limited to only the beginning of the title lo..

Frm the list, I will definately say "captain Phillips" the best! Specially the pirate boat chasing the Alabama, and the intense wave + the seawater spillage ! That's the best scene!

If you had notice, when in space, the only time you hear sound it when Sandra Bullock is in contact with something, because... In space there is not sound. We only hear sound through Sandra because of her suit (has it's own "atmosphere")...

Yes yes yes in the making-of section clearly explain there should not be any audible sound frm the space but in this movie, director injected sound effect element in order to thrill everyone and thus---won 7 Oscar awards!

Somehow for 3D and sound effects, cartoon movies tend to standout rite? But I don't like 3D. Lucky so to speak!

M_v I think the AV side should be quite there already. The HT test disc which is the compilation of all top notch movies is quite adequate to load the AV system. But as for the HiFi, still very confuse with the defination of goood sound goood music! I think this defined me as an AV guy...

Just done "book of Eli". The scene where Eli and Solara were under attacked by Carnagie and the gang simply the best! More so this is the last movie Gary Oldman ever acted as a villain. A must to buy and keep for AV enthusiast!

Yayaya color sort of faded towards monotonous grey/brown! Wonder why the movie was made that way?

Just did "Robocop"! Err... Sound effect i would give a 6 out of 10! It does not emphasis much of the action sound effect! Didn't get them in the cinema, didn't quite so frm my HT. What u think?

Just did BluRay "A Good Day To Die Harder". Well the track mention DTS True HD 7.1 but through out the movie never even heard any coming out from my rear speakers! The front and center mix also bad! Vocal is not centralized! The car chasing event after the BMW + Court explosion also flat! Do you guys experience the same or it is just me?

Hi all, just wanna share the below AV demo disc I got frm local dealer. I love this kinda short clips where they picked the best scene frm the best movies! These are the 6 I got yesterday. Managed to test(fast phase) out 2 disc(due to the stupid Chinese opera/歌台 still going on) and bam!! Though the disc clearly stated DTS HD 7.1 but turn out to be the tracks only output 5.1 channel. Guess that's the prob when buying "ah hem" disc la..

Hi d_r, through out the titles I couldn't experience any sound coming out frm any 7.1 short clips thru the back surround speakers. Then I got into worry quickly went back to set up screen-test tone.. Huh the sound frm the back surround sounded brightly! Hah finally there is another page frm the disc where the track will enable one by the speaker staring frm the front left! So when the back surround speaker take turn to turn ON time, the screen showed the speaker output signal but the sound went to rear surround speakers. I think somehow the pirated disc when copying time, the additional 2 back surround signals already mixed into the rear surround. Is this making sense?
I have 4 four more disc to test, if all yield the same, *^%% will go return all the discs and exchange with P Ramli classic !!

Haha no la m_v PRamlee in BD give free oso don't want. But if there is no 7.1 frm the rest, will exchange with something else.
Hi avfan & d_r, I think my BP is 180/100 now every morning! Sleep also saliva drooling! Now adrenaline pumping moment I will move mountain for the sake of anything pertaining to HiFi/AV. Strike the iron whislt it's hot!

Yes that bad la IMO. Previous XMan so much better. Thought I sat into a wrong theater hall!? Thought ironman still screening. Thought BackToTheFuture remarking!? Somemore last minute ticket purchase ended up row K bucket 17(right at the corner) guess the sound effect so much better!

M_v, found ur review for X-Man! Nice one! Specially the opening scene! Good guys vanished too fast! And err... back in 60's they had something even more superior than Howard Stark!? Blind me. And err.. this round how is Brian going to distribute the wages accordingly ?? Too many casts and finally, FanBingBing is cool and lucky no dialogue for her role:)

Just watched this last night! I personally think the movie is great!! As always frm qui gon jin to ottway, from Brian mills to bill marks, Liam never fail to portray himself in all his movies!
In this movie most of the thrills were shot inside the plane and all the time packed only with dialogues! Plus text messaging! So the sound effect to what I think isn't that much! Overall movie is great!!
