Watched Fast Five today. Some nice bass throughout the movie and in some of the music pieces (like the end credits).

QUOTE(klimal @ Sep 11 2011, 09:51 AM) Welcome back to HT. Yeah, I find that hifi is quite a solitary event. Whereas HT is more of a family event (with the appropriate movies of course taking a small break from hifi? Watching movies actually involves the whole family (except XXX shows) unlike hifi with the emperor's spot. Most of the time, it's a family event for me |

How comes this good action movie come with Dolby ThruHD audio formet~~~! If the audio formet with dts-hd master audio, lagi best~~~~~! |

QUOTE(klimal @ Oct 14 2011, 09:18 AM) Green Lantern...The hero is impetuos, petulant, arrogant and downright unlikable. Kinda reminds me of the hero in Green Hornet. Also not very likeable. Not the usual hero material. |

QUOTE(alexalex @ Nov 19 2012, 06:06 PM) Hi Jchong, Maybe they re-encode the movie and this affects the quality/smoothness of the playback.Thx for replying. Could it be due to recording/illegal burning processes? I thought my Sony BD player unable to "process-decode" fast enough for fast movement of image in the video. Eg. "when the singer perform/move his hands or leg (dancing) in fast action, that particular hand or leg become "distorted" straight horizontal lines, but strangely the other still HD/fine (since slow) Or my eyes too sharp to detect such flaw? Anyway. this is another "Ahem" vs "Ori" example. (go ori !) Thx again. |

Watched Die Hard 5 and Olympus Has Fallen. Both are big and loud action movies, but not much in terms of sophistication, plot or acting.
Nevertheless, they are for casual entertainment and very impressive for LFE. Reminds me of Underworld Awakening with tremendous and "over the top" type bass. In fact there was a scene in DH5 and one in OHF which caused my HT partition walls to creak. Anyway, they are certainly good as demo-material for subwoofer(s)! QUOTE(paskal @ Sep 10 2013, 08:18 AM) wwz seem to have the best bass content of any movies released this year. and this year we have a lot of those. ironman3, oblivion, olympus has fallen, gi joe but wwz stands out (considerably). plane crash, building explosions, helicopter blades, car crashes, gunfight, machine gun fire. the bass is like knowing + black hawk dawn + flight of the phoenix all rolled into one. Just watched WWZ yesterday. In terms of bass, there was really only one spectacular scene which is the grenade explosion around 1hr 5m mark. Machine gun fire is well done too, fairly balanced. Movies like Olympus Has Fallen and Die Hard 5 certainly had more bass, though I felt it was sometimes overdone. |

QUOTE(Mov_freak @ Sep 14 2013, 08:09 PM) Lone Wolf and Cub: Sword of Vengeance (1972) Must revisit this series. I remember watching one of them (can't remember which) back in the 80s.Lone Wolf and Cub: Baby Cart at the River Styx (1972) Lone Wolf and Cub: Baby Cart to Hades (1972) Lone Wolf and Cub: Baby Cart in Peril (1972) Lone Wolf and Cub: Baby Cart in the Land of Demons (1973) Lone Wolf and Cub: White Heaven in Hell (1974) Now for something, REALLY different. Director Kenji Misumi will always be know for this series. A samurai turned ronin (a samurai without a master) wonders the country of Japan, helping the simple folks while pursuing his arch enemy, the Yagyu Clan!! The hook? His absolutely cute and adorable young son, whom his pushes all over Japan in a wooden cart. They do not talk to each other, but rather communicate with each other with knowing glances... I have you know, I would have KILLED for a wooden cart like the one in the movies when I was a baby, way WAY cool. Again, please note that this is a VERY violent series, limbs and heads go a flying.... Oh and blood a spluttering... For movies that is 41 years old, the transfer is impressive... They must have kept the masters in a pristine environment!! My Two Sen Thanks for reminding me about this. |

QUOTE(Mov_freak @ Sep 16 2013, 12:37 PM) The Usual Suspects (1995) What, you only just watched The Usual Suspects?!?!How do you get your hands on an amazing script, a whole stable of great actors and also have a reasonable budget in 1995 for your directorial debut? The answer is, you have to be Bryan Singer. For the life of me, I don't know why I have only watch this movie NOW!!! Everything is delivered! There is absolutely, positively not wrong with this movie (well there are some goofs, but as far as story, acting and editing is concern), NOTHING. This movie is categorise as a mystery and boy is it ever!!! Bryan Singer, is still showing alot of directors, how it is done, with this little gem!! I cannot recommend this movie enough!! Like always, My Two Sen. Brilliant movie eh? Long live Keyser Söze. Another one I like from the same era is LA Confidential. This post has been edited by jchong: Sep 16 2013, 02:35 PM |
