So guys, do u think it's worth investing in a new mobo just to get that multiplier option? Does it makes a large difference in OC by changing the multiplier? I'm thinking of either getting DFI nForce2 Ultra Infinity or ABIT AN7 mobo. But of course it's a matter of worth investing? if u are using mobile ...i would say yes..u can lower ur multi to get higher fsb...greater performance...get the NF7/S(Sata) (V2.0) or DFI nForce2 Infinity ...Dfi have higher Vdimm options(3.3v)...NF7 bunch of bios selection n can vdimm mod to 3.3volts too * cheaper too...both great performance. At the moment i can do (200x12.5) at 1.75vcore. I think can go further but i dare not push further now coz i'm using caplang PSU. [/quote] >do get a better psu b4 u overclocked. >tone. |

QUOTE(sOuNdStOrM @ Feb 28 2005, 03:26 PM) My default Vcore is 1.65v while Vdimm is 2.65v. I've increase Vcore to 1.85v and Vdimm at 2.9v. With that, still i can't get stable at 205MHz. Due to RAM problem? Any Barton 2800+ user here that can go above 200MHz? what is ur temp ?what is ur stock multi, fsb & speed? what Ram chip on ur Kingston? D43? D43 can run at 250Mhz @3-3-3-11 Timing.. tone. |

Tone, can yours prime stable on that vcore and speed? just wondering.... EDIT: It's stable now. Don't know why....lol dont pamper the proc ...hit it hard! ... keep us updated...go david! tone.. |

QUOTE(davidletterboyz @ Mar 4 2005, 03:10 PM) No, I really don't know why it fails the very first time I put my CPU (yeah, straight away do mild o/cing hahaha). This is 2600+ running on 12.5x166 on KT333 (yeah fsb 200 will kill my hdd hehe). I tested with 12.5x200 yesterday, it boots nicely, but 58C idle!! (Me on stock hsf). Anyways, I think we can really trust the stepping in DTR, unlike normal desktop which same stepping does not give same o/c. I wonder how good soulfly's 2800+ will be. I hope it cracks 2.8GHz with air cooling hahahah! its time to tukar board laioz... wah..idle temp very bad huh."try fitting ur heatsink again.." it wont go that high one lar even when u oc...to further oc..make sure temp under 50'c .. 12.5 x 200mhz=2500Mhz ehh...my proc boot up at 2900Mhz ok ! haha..using 2volts le..air cooling ! |

QUOTE(davidletterboyz @ Mar 5 2005, 12:50 AM) Damn! 12.5x200MHz fails at 1.65Vcore after 18mins of priming (small FFTs)!!!! dont rush le..u might damage ur proc like tat (bcos temp)...get better cooling..or fit another big a** fan on the heatsink. Now priming at 1.675Vcore. Temp is 59C. Hope it's going well. EDIT: my proc need 1.725v for 2500mhz (at first) ...now after burning in 1.675v.. tone. |

QUOTE(davidletterboyz @ Mar 14 2005, 03:10 AM) Ohh! LOL! Hmm......then what hsf should I buy for this CPU? I want it to folds 2.60GHz 24x7 with silent fan lol. Too much to ask eh? TT silent tower lo..cheap n good performance, quiet too...RM110 at Sri Comp. err....si 97 lo with TT SmartFan....good n quiet.... my temp never go above 45'c during priming (without aircon) si-97 seems right. But a tad overbudget.... ehh...how ur proc? tone |
