Just got my unit and reset to factory using clean image..to remove those unwanted software

Was wondering what is the SATA for our HDD? SATA or SATA2?

Was thinking to get SSD..but not sure can fully utilize or not. Noticed that HDD is the bottleneck most of the time..so either SSD or 7200rpm

Sorry, until now..don't see anyone have a definite answer..do our DV6 has sata3 port for the HDD enclosure? I am looking to get SSD

Finally..I installed my SSD into my lappy Maybe I should summarize for some brothers
1) Make recovery CD. I dont prefer to ghost / reimage as it will take the recovery partition as well. Feel that kinda useless..especially when a year later..you bound to install from scratch as everything is outdated in that image.
2) Do a windows backup of your current state and save it in an external storage
3) Took me some time to figure out how to open the HDD and RAM compartment. All you need to do is to move the battery removal switch the other direction and the piece will pop up.
4) Need to unscrew a total of 8 screws if I am not mistaken. Becareful not to break the SATA wiring.
5) To place back the piece of plastic that you removed earlier, its very tricky. Make sure u get all the corners with a click before proceeding further. Or else, you might break one of the tip

Now with everything install, my laptop took 15sec to boot up..super fast~ The usual bottleneck / freeze caused by a slow 5400rpm is no longer there. Its a worth it investment

It was intel 320 160gb..bought it for 700plus from a friend. It was just SATA2..was choosing between 120gb sata3 or 160gb sata2..I had to go for the extra 40gb..people say the difference in sata2 and sata3 is minimal for normal usage


Not sure yet..haha, can sell? Don't think anyone would wanna buy it

Wow..so many things to optimize? Didn't know that..automatically, as i check, defrag, superfetch, prefetch was disabled. I can't disable page file yet..just 4gb RAM..

U need to create recovery dvd via hp software..not windows backup.

When i did mine, it took me 3 dvds

I got ticking sound from the left side of my PC..just left of my touchpad. It usually is louder when PC is loading...and becomes softer when it finish loading. Is it the fan needs replacing? or HDD?

edit..just notice..its not my HDD..its left of my HDD..a fan?

Hmm..the weird part is the only happens during initial boot up. After a while..the sound gone..even with playing extreme games.

I kinda lazy wanna bring back to hp...my HDD contains alot sensitive data..what you guys tink

Removed the original hdd and become my new external. If i remove the hdd and give them..don't know they will accept anot

Means i need to recovery that HDD as well. This is gonna take forever..maybe I will see how it goes first :S

Does anyone know the first year warranty is international or local? Currently at outstation. The stupid buzzing sound I was talking earlier (at the left hand side..probably GC fan) just got a bit loader..fear it would explode one day.
