QUOTE(Kidicarus @ Sep 5 2011, 05:12 PM)
Actually i can think of 2 benefits of being persistently online even if you're just playing single player..

1.  Preserving the value of the achievement meta-game.  Even if you just play single player, the fact that some players place a great deal of importance of achievements means that it will be a lot harder for players to hack achievements.

2.  Blizzard will be able to monitor for cheaters, and with the addition of anti-cheat measures, that orange legendary sword of pwnage will actually be worth something at the auction house, which is probably something you won't be able to avoid even if you're just playing by yourself.

Hopefully it also prevents the bullshit soj dupes that crashes the economy

The only thing positive about the auction house is you don't have to see this shit anymore

Let’s start off small: Scrolls of Identification are no longer in the game. Unidentified items and the act of identifying them is still very much part of the game, but now when obtaining an unidentified item you'll simply right click it, a short cast timer will occur as your character examines the item, and it will become identified. We love the double-discovery of finding a present and then unwrapping it, but we don't think it requires a physical item you have to find and keep in your bags to get the same effect. From now on you'll just be able to inherently identify all your items, no need to carry scrolls. Your character in Diablo III is just that badass now.

We're changing core character attributes to Strength, Dexterity, Intellect, and Vitality, and the benefits each stat provides is being broken down as:

Strength
+Barbarian damage

+Armor
Dexterity
+Demon Hunter damage

+Monk damage

+Dodge
Intellect
+Wizard damage

+Witch Doctor damage

+Health from globes
Vitality
+Health

The one we showed of the siegebreaker was a scripted sequence we set up specifically for that video. It was never implemented, and never actually worked without someone sitting there typing in a bunch of commands to get it all to fire off properly. It's still something we'd like to do, though.

QUOTE(Vorador @ Feb 1 2012, 11:43 PM)
So how will the character die? May be like this:

Once the heath bar emptied, the screen freeze and slowly fade away, and show up a 'game over' text in a creepy way with another creepy voice over. After that, return to the load game screen.
