Actually, when does the Beta end?

Other than just prior to the release of Diablo 3.

One more Diablo III console development job opening for 2011

user posted image
QUOTE
At this point, the "Diablo III is probably coming to consoles" thing is like a joke without a punchline. We just keep building and building on the premise, but there's no release in sight. Still, Blizzard keeps giving us material for the setup, this time in the form of another job posting on Gamasutra for a Console Network Senior Software Engineer.

In English, Egon? According to the job listing, "this position is responsible for ensuring the best implementation of sophisticated networking systems on consoles."

Last time we checked, Diablo III game director Jay Wilson said "we don't want to announce something until we're sure." Blizzard sure does hire a lot of people without being sure!

A bit of lag during start up other than that no.

QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ Jan 3 2012, 04:42 AM)
oh my god. my supplier just notified me yesterday saying D3 NA and SEA may be region locked same as SC2.

Is this confirmed?

http://us.battle.net/d3/en/services/auction-house/regions#q3
So just like Sc2, D3 SEA can access both US and SEA regions.

If you get D3 NA, then only access NA only.
shocking.gif now i'm confused which to get. If i get D3 NA, will i still be flagged for SEA rmah ? If so can i still use SEA rmah, even if my char is located on NA server ? And if not, can i then use NA rmah ?
I found the previous blizzard statement saying no region lock like Sc2, meaning doesn't matter if you get NA or SEA, you can create a char in any region. The only limitation is which native RMAH you can use, also no accessing other character stashes cross region.

http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessag...topic_id=280346

http://diablo.incgamers.com/forums/showthr...t-not-currency)

So both of these 2 different sources seem contradictory :/ any ideas ??
But the thing is, when game goes live the stress on server will be that much higher :/  By the way what internet connection do you have ?
*update

I found a source from 27th December saying that it isn't region locked like Sc2. In fact they compiled all sources from blizzard statements on the matter.
http://diablo.incgamers.com/blog/comments/...issues-and-more
So in bashiok's remark, he is saying making character is non region lock. But then in his second remark he takes a u turn and says nothing is certain .... wtf ?

And as mentioned, my supplier just informed me yesterday it's going to be region locked quoting the bnet page which stated sc2 region lock (i noticed this page was mentioned a few months back by other people, so it doesn't seem to be new information).

So is it region lock or not :/ ?

Diablo III release held due to South Korea's concern with auction house feature

user posted image

QUOTE
It seems that the auction house in Blizzard's long-awaited action-RPG Diablo III is holding up the release of the game.

South Korea is delaying a rating on Diablo III thanks to their concern over a real-money auction house feature in the game. According to a spokesman, "Committee members are conflicted about what to do with Diablo 3 because of Blizzard’s information on the game’s “auction house” feature." The ratings board is concerned that using real money in the auction house would be essentially gambling, pointing at the “cash out” feature that allows players to convert gold into actual money.

Since Blizzard has committed itself to a simultaneous worldwide release of Diablo III, this issue will hold up the release date in all regions.

A new ratings board hearing is scheduled for the 6th January. Stay tuned.

Seems like the release date is getting closer.

Blizzard confirms Diablo III coming to consoles

user posted image

QUOTE
Blizzard community manager Micah Whiple has confirmed that Diablo III will indeed be coming to consoles, and that lead designer Josh Mosqueira is heading the project.

The confirmation came via Twitter, as a gamer asked Whiple if Blizzard really was working on a console version, to which the community manager bluntly replied, "Yup. Josh Mosqueira is lead designer for the Diablo console project."

No more information has been released regarding the console version of Diablo III.

I thought Diablo 3 is developed for PC and will only be ported to consoles later.

Blizzard still tinkering with Diablo 3 systems, highlights new changes

user posted image
QUOTE
For a game that isn't even out yet, Diablo 3 has undergone many, many system changes. Today, game director Jay Wilson has posted a load of upcoming system adjustments, mostly made to systems that have already been changed. A few prime examples include the complete removal of "identify item" scrolls -- characters handle that with a universal spell now -- a dedicated potion button, and Blizzard deciding to rename the Stone of Recall and "just call it what it is," namely "Town Portal."

Another big change, the Nephalem Cube and Cauldron of Jordan (both integral to the crafting system), have been removed from the game outright. According to Blizzard, the two items "detracted from the benefits of returning to town to sell items, salvage, craft, and interact with the townsfolk." It's a lot to take in, especially given how long fans have waited for Diablo 3 but, in Wilson's words, "no one will remember if the game is late, only if it's great."

Head over to the Diablo 3 site to read about these changes (and many others) in more detail.

Diablo III producer leaves project, Blizzard

user posted imageuser posted image

QUOTE
Blizzard senior producer Steve Parker has announced that his work on Diablo III is over, and he's leaving the company for new opportunities.

The producer made his announcement on Twitter, tweeting, "Hey Twitter, I'm no longer working at Blizzard or on D3. I've had a great 5 years there and those guys are going to do an amazing job with Diablo."

No reason was given for Parker's resignation, though it could be speculated his job is complete since Diablo III is late in development and his departure seems to be amicable.

Parker worked for three years with Liquid Entertainment, which is best known for Battle Realms and most recently released the videogame tie-in to Thor: God of Thunder, before joining Blizzard in 2006.

Blizzard axes companion pets and reforging scrolls in Diablo III
user posted image
QUOTE
Last week, Blizzard revealed some of the major changes and cuts they'd made late in their development of Diablo III. Apparently, they haven't stopped slashing features, as it has been announced that they've axed companion pets and scrolls of reforging.

Regarding the pets who would run around and pick up gold for the player, Blizzard community manager Nethaera wrote in the official forum, "The companion pets felt like they were mandatory to maximize play efficiency and some of the pets were too cutesy for the gritty, dark world of Sanctuary.”

In other words, they were too cute and cuddly.

As for scrolls of reforging, they were "underdeveloped and just not quite good enough for the game in their current state."

“Neither of those are issues we felt like we could solve without a lot of additional work, and we’re trying to close in on a solid release date for the game, not move further away,” Nethaera added.

Diablo III still has no release date save a nebulous 2012 release.

Assisting in loot pickup and sale of unwanted loots would make the game very efficient.

PSA: 100,000 more Diablo 3 beta invites sent out

user posted image

QUOTE
Blizzard has announced that 100,000 more Diablo 3 beta invites have been sent out in North America, so if you opted in to beta access with your Battle.net account, you should log in and see if you've gotten a notification. Blizzard warns that phishing activity may increase with this new wave of invites, so take care.

If you weren't one of the lucky one hundred thousand, don't fret: Blizzard promises to send out more invites eventually. You can go back to rolling classes now!
