Just found out that there is a free and faster way to move funds between banks.
But seems to be only available at MBB and PBB

On Maybank2u, when you select interbank funds transfer, it is defaulted to INSTANT interbank funds transfer which is charged RM2. doh.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif

Make sure you change the dropdown selection to GIRO interbank funds transfer to get 10sen. thumbup.gif

Be careful so that you do not end up paying more unnecessarily.

Up to 3 working days but generally within 1 working day.

If the IBG transaction is done before 12.30 pm, you get the money the same day:

Since Sept 2013, all banks will credit within 2 hours of clearing:

"Meanwhile, Datuk Abdul Farid Alias, chairman of the Association of Banks in Malaysia, said that the clearing time for funds transfer via IBG would be made faster by the end of this month.

The effort, he said, would see customers’ accounts being credited within two hours of IBG clearing for there would be at least two clearing windows by the end of September 2013. Currently, customers’ accounts are credited anytime before midnight.

“By the end of February 2014, there will be faster fund availability as there will be four clearing windows,” said Abdul Farid, who is also the newly appointed president and CEO of Malayan Banking Bhd.

He said that by the end of next year, IBG payments initiated by customers before 5pm would be credited to the recipients by 10.30pm on the same day. At present, the cut-off time for same-day clearing for IBG was 12.30pm."

Those are new TAT that needs to be implemented by now.

Every bank has its cut-off time.

So far, the fastest I experienced is within 1 working day.

Since Sept 2013, all banks cut off time is 12.30pm and money is in the same day. By next year, cutoff extended to 5 pm. I did an IBG transfer from M2U in the morning and money was in by the afternoon.

first page need to update

Yes, the first page is very outdated. Prices still show RM2.00 instead of RM0.10. Nothing on new timing. Thanks, Ronnie for letting us know. Maybe Ronnie should take over as TS for this thread. thumbup.gif rclxms.gif tongue.gif

The timing at Public Bank is even better than Maybank.

For example,
- at Public Bank, make payment at 8.00 am receive at beneficiary's bank at 1:00 pm. At Maybank, make payment at 8.00 am receive at 3:00 pm.
- at Public Bank, make payment at 10.00 am receive at beneficiary's bank at 3:00 pm. At Maybank, make payment at 10.00 am receive at 5.45 pm.

Looks like IBG payments are now credited on the same day if transaction are made before 5.00 pm. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif Same day deadline was previously 12.30 pm.

Also, over the counter IBG transactions is now free for senior citizens.

Yesterday about 11.00pm i performed an IBG transaction from my Maybank to pay my Standard Chartered Credit Card..

Right now, the money have not went through yet.. If i am not mistaken, last time by 11.00am the funds will be settled to my Standard Chartered..

Is it that there is some kind of delay in the system?

This is the 2nd delay happening for my IBG transactions..

Normally payment for credit card appears only the next day because the banks seems to update our card statement only once a day. It is not really a problem, because the transaction date is still today although the posting date is a day later.

You will see your payment on your credit card statement on 7 January, with 6 January as the transaction date and 7 January as the posting date. I noticed it is the same regardless whether it's IBG or IBFT. Payments shows up on credit card statement the next day.
