Huh? I thought the free transfer is perpetual ? If only 1 year, it seem like campaign which doesn’t make sense

To support businesses and individuals, over the next three years a few initiatives will be implemented. To drive the migration to e-payments during the transition period, the Instant Transfer fee of 50 sen would be waived for transactions up to RM5,000 per transaction made by individuals and SMEs effective 1 July 2018.

Actually instant transfer via Hong Leong Connect has been free since last year. I had done quite some instant transfer via HL Connect a few times over the last few months and I had never to paid a single cent.

Ya, need to use app only got free.. if desktop, need to pay..
now I guess the promotion maybe is transfer without limit. Bnm one is limit for RM5000

my guess is bnm's only min guideline. it didnt mention whether perpetually-waived or with certain conditions (not published yet) or time-limited.

each bank could give better services or just meeting min requirements. even cimb didnt set the transfer limit and so does hlb's. <-- wouldn't this better than BNM's?

i noticed hlb's "end waiver period" is 30 june 2019, which is (coincidentally) 1yr from bnm's supposed free transfer effective from 1 july 2018. who knows, probably they gonna extend it again and again, or even revise the T&C anytime.

am sure nearing 1 july, more and more banks will start publishing all their respective free transfer T&C.

the bigger bank with later user base like mbb or pbb havent announced anything yet. still wanna milk more transfer fee from us

with this new waiver "promo", it has superseded the previous promo since the new features covers both app and web.

actually they can publish it on 1 July onwards, but i guess they just took the "why not" opportunity to offer it earlier. it make sense from marketing's pov

Indeed. The previous promotion that was supposed to end by 30th June started in conjunction with the launch of the refreshed HL Connect app in July last year. The waiver came up to RMxx million only in IBG/instant transfer fee and can end earlier once the fee waiver allocation for that promotion dries up.

This promo is indeed better as under the new BNM guideline, banks are supposed to waive the interbank transfer fee for transfer of amount up to 5k only per day.
