Now the plaster ceiling renovation are in process, and noticed that the length between the plaster ceiling and the aircorn pipe are short. Make a measurement and noticed all below 14 inch, which meant the aircorn will having problem to fill into the decide area (4 units impacted), as it need 14” from aircoprn pipe to the top.

So, I asked the Plaster ceiling and aircorn folk
1) Plaster ceiling folk: Not a big problem, as the aircorn folk can use the flexi pipe type to joining it, else they should not in the business

2) Aircorn folks: 1) Suggested make a box like under the Plaster ceiling, so that the aircorn partially inside plaster ceiling (Sorry, can’t find any picture). 2) Alternative is re-hack the walls to low those pipes as the initial already on correct sport, but it was due to plaster ceiling folk lower the plaster ceiling to extra 2” (it should low of 7: but now it was 9”).
Than I asking them above the solution given by plaster ceiling folk, than they said “Sorry, this is not our way of working, as it was illegal and shortcut, as it will easily cause water leaking”

Anyone member using Plaster ceiling box to cover aircorn, what the pro / con?

* I'm doing my renovation and aircorn pipe already concile on the wall.

It similar like this, but the aircorn unit may partially hide into depend on how much space need from the pipe again

i sense the plaster ceiling guy is bullshitting you

listen to aircon guy
water leakage is a long term problem
solution 1 seems like a good option. be creative. you might end up with a nice design

From my understanding of your current problem, would suggest the following in order of preference.

Option 1.
Hack the affected area and lower the aircon piping. The water from the aircon condensation is drained under gravity. If there is not enough gradient, the aircon will not function efficiently.
[The method proposed by the plaster ceiling guy will not work as these will be water trapped inside the flexible pipe. It will be a matter of time before water starts leaking]

Option 2.
Provide the box out to allow the top of the aircon blower unit to go above the ceiling level. It may not be aesthetically pleasing, but have seen this method being used when there is a window opening just below the aircon blower unit.

Personally, for durability and aesthetic, I would go for option1. smile.gif

OK, After all the consideration involving Hacking / re-plaster...hence decide just build a box as show on the photo early. Because it seem like not only the aircon water pipe need move, it also included the alumimum pipe as well, where it will involve hack two line at the wall.
Water pipe is from side than go down. As alumimum pipe is side and up sad.gif

So make a box across three impacted box will be more ease
