Hello guys,

I have just bought my ipad in Machines this Monday, and now I noticed that my ipad has bright spots that can only be seen when the screen is displaying white/bright pages. This is a different problem than the 'glue' problem and the light bleeding problem, which seems noticeable when the page is dark. In the net this is often referred to dead spots.

I have 1 dot about 3mm size and it's quite annoying but only in bright pages.. thus especially distracting when browsing in safari..

If I want to replace my unit, will i get a refurbish unit? or a new one? and how long will i get it? considering i just bought it on monday is it possible they will give 1-on-1 replacement on the spot?

Also does it matter where I go for replacement? Machines store which I bought or other Apple Store is also ok?

And last thing, does replacing the iPad will 'surely' solve the problem? what do you recommend me? change the ipad or just deal with the bright dot rather than risking to have a more problematic ipad after replacement?

If anyone has got experience with replacing their iPad please tell me, I would be really grateful.

Thank you very much smile.gif

If it's a dead pixel then I would suggest you to try out some dead pixel fixer video. It plays a video that flashes multiple colors and you will need to keep playing it in a loop, it did cure a dead pixel on my iPod Nano before so you might want to give it a try.

Every company will have a policy on dead pixels, usually your screen must display a minimum amount of dead pixels before they will agree to replace it for you.

I think many of your questions are quite subjective, better not waste time and just bring it back to Machines and get their respond to your issue.

I don't think it's a dead pixel, because I had a dead pixel before in my laptop and I know that a dead pixel will show 'black' dot and doesn't display anything on that dot.

The one i'm experiencing is just a small portion of the screen being brighter than the rest of the screen. And it's just visible on bright pages. sad.gif

EDIT: now that I checked it thoroughly, that small bright area in the middle of the screen is visible everywhere. it's just that when the screen is filled with colors, especially darker ones that area is hard to notice, but it became very obvious in bright pages.

Oops, I meant stuck pixels. If it's stuck it could be other colors which is why I asked you to try those videos and see if it helps.

Otherwise, waste no time and head back to Machines. Nobody can guarantee an answer for you here because the decision is in their hands, 1-to-1 and recon or not, it's up to them.

Now i'm playing the video and if it doesn't work I'll head out to machines.

By the way should I wipe out my data before going there? or they will have a procedure to handle customer's data? I mean like completely wiping it out before receiving the faulty product, or copying it to the new replacement product.

i think you better wipe your data if you have 'sensitive' info inside...
