I have visited PIKOM PC Fair KLCC last week and i witnessed some of the consumers have been misleading by some of the Avira sales promoters with inaccurate information. And I’m very sad to see 1 or 2 victims have been wasted their money on this.

Avira as a free antivirus edition has already been bitten by AVG and Avast with a big gap. Avira is already not a good choice for free antivirus and there is no reason for anyone to spend their hard-earned money to buy Avira that cannot protect their PC.

Avira would continue to promote this bad product with misleading information to the public, and layman like me and you.

"I really hope this company would develop some business ethics soon."

I thought AVIRA was no 1 AV, and its engine SAVAPI is being used by its competitor like Karspersky and Swift.

i'm not too sure, but i always perceive that a free version and a paid version have different caliber in their ability to detect and clean viruses. and also the frequency and how fast they update their definitions.

i'm only using microsoft's security essentials, which i wonder if it actually works at all...haha! but so far my pc has been clean of virus or malware or those stuff. at the end of the day, it's how u use ur pc, cincai cucuk pendrive here and there n then to ur pc, u r bound to get STD...i mean viruses.

All you need is a good antivirus (which doesn't really matters to me, I'm using Avira free right now), Malwarebytes anti Malware, and common sense.

Virus-free since forever.

The way to test out the antivirus is improper. They take from the users as sample randomly, and we did know how is the users surfing behaviour. So at the first place the detection rate is wrong, and the number of malware encounters is wrong too.

The research is useless, if they did not setup up an environment just for the testing purpose, instead of grab information from public users. For your information, users have choice to not update the detected malware to the antivirus hosting server also.

When come to antivirus, there's no so called the strongest or whatever. Those researching company did that just to grab attention for better commercial purpose. The best is thing still, stop those crap discussion and bring it on to better computer surfing behaviour and awareness.

totally agrred with you tat Avira is a piece of crap.

I have genuine copy of Avira (Free gift from Magazine subscription).

I know my computer got virus and Avira can detect it but can't remove it.

At the end of it I use chinese Anti virus 360 to clean it.

I do agree with that. Sometimes I do some checking on my computer by checking the logs of hjt or dds or otl to determine whether my computer is infected or not.

i already try kaspersky intenet security 2012 and bitdefender internet security 2012. in term of detection, i can said both are same. the major different, bitdefender pawn kaspersky in term of scanning speed. (very fast!)
