Like galphadu said,

it's still considered as second hand car.

And with a little waxing and polishing it will look like brand new. And also, as he had mention, don't trust the mileage. They could have change it without you knowing it.

Most importantly, test drive them. See which one suits your driving style.

Alphard 2.4 or Alphard 3.0?

If you intend to take the 2.4, might as well you take the Starex. You'll appreciate the extra torque it has from the CRDI engine to haul the whole bulk.

Furthermore its new, and you have 5 years warranty as opposed to a recon Alphard which some dealers offers 1 year to no warranty at all.

Recon cars = used in foreign country but then it is sold and import to malaysia and can registered a new number plate for that car. So basically, a recon car = 2nd hand car.

I will take alphard cause it has higher resell value

aiyo... recond = second hand la...

max on d road allowed is 5 yrs... after that send to manufacturer/agent, see if the car score the specification to be taken as a reconditioned car to sell to other country... if can take as recond, factory will refurbish/retouch, if not become half cut... unless willing to run underground without permit... or special category car, luxury/super sport/antique which can apply for longer permit..

TS,
As mentinoed. Recond is a used car overseas but has been 'touched up' b4 being shipped here for sale.

For d Alphard, i also suggest d 3.0 coz 2.4 would prbably b rather underpowered for a full sized MPV provided tat ur OK wit r.tax. I'm saying tis not b'coz i own 1 but b'coz my own experiences wit underpowered Unser n 2.0/2.4 Camry.

If ur into these vehicles for ppl carrying, diesel power is a gd options due to its massive low end torque. Thus my choice here would b d Starex even though it's looks r not my taste.

Is this what you're looking at?

http://paultan.org/2011/07/27/2011-hyundai...-kit-and-plush/

If so then it's certainly more luxurious than most recond Alphards.

But understand yourself. What's your primary objective? Up front cost? TCO? Resale value? Maintenance? Safety? Fuel consumption? Space? Once you know this the decision is pretty clear.

3.0 road tax expensive, if underpower, starex using diesel 2.5, do you think its ok?
but currently, the vehicle must be luxurious like alphard and carries lots of passenger like starex.

Hmm TS how bout go look around some Recond Alphard and see their condition, usually interior is kinda hard to touch up.. So you will easily notice the car conditions.. And its true that mileage can be tampered.

As for Starex new facelift i think its worth a short wink.gif 150K+ Test drive and see how it feel.. Hyundai is picking up wink.gif Never try never know.

Yup... Estima & Alphard same size.. not Wish lorr...

Why I do that...

Estima ACR50 - look more sportive
Alphard - look Elegance

Almost 2yr ++ hanging with Hyundai, Samsung, Deco Top Management (S/Korea).. Basically I know their business strategy...

I didn't how you think & look Alphard are Bigger than Estima... As far I know...

Length/width are similar & Alphard just <150mm taller than Estima.. In term luxury, Estima & Alphard use same pilot seat, multimedia, electric seat, 3 way Camera & etc... Just Alphard are overprice with same thing in Estima...

If you want more seater as Starex then Toyota Commuter should suite with your requirement... haa haa

Alphard = Gone in 60 Seconds. Attractive to thieves and car-jackers. A customer's Alphard 3.0 was stolen outside his house some 5 mins after reaching it. Luckily the children not inside. Car-jacker damn daring. They open the door, kick the driver out and drove away. All in less than 1 minute.

If you want to fit 11 people, of course must cramp. If Alphard can fit 11 people also cramp but too bad it cant be done. No difference.

Dude if Alphard is more comfortable for you, then just get it.

Adjustable but not satisfying? Alphard is only 8 seater and Starex is 11 seater. Why dont you do a fair comparison of 8 people in each car? Just because Starex is a 11 seater car doesn't mean you need to fit the whole mpv to do a comparison. Take the extra 3-4 seats as some sorta bonus.

Fit both mpv with 8 people and you'll see how the Starex 2.5l turbodiesel eats Alphard for breakfast.

bro starex diesel/alphard petrol, suspension better is alphard.power door....starex hand brake like a car, alphard hand brake at brake pedal.. so many things different.i like drive alphard than starex...drive to penang balik hari pn xletih..i drive starex to melaka sakit badan ar
*
you drive the alphard 2.4 or 3.0 variant? no doubt alphard is more refine than starex but try loading at least 7 ppl inside the
alphard 2.4 and see how it struggle going uphill. overtaking is quite a strain too.
the starex 2.5 diesel had more torque aka pulling power. even with 9 ppl on board, going up to genting is still a breeze.
also, for a big car, the starex is surprisingly easy to manoeuvre in tight traffic.

QUOTE(wordtalks @ Aug 3 2011, 01:49 PM)
i said almost not being used.
3.0 road tax expensive, if underpower, starex using diesel 2.5, do you think its ok?
but currently, the vehicle must be luxurious like alphard and carries lots of passenger like starex.
*
recond isn't like almost not being used. it's a reconditioned used car.
and if you worry about road tax different / expensive, you're not in the league yet. paying roadtax in only once and year smile.gif
worrying too much about road tax and fc will kill the purpose of owning a luxury car.

statement = alphard
practicality = starex.

pick your choice.
