Hi guys,

I am in the middle of renovating my new house and planning to do some simply in-built TV Cabinet.

I do search around and saw very pretty designs...

BUT....

It seems all designs never cater for 5.1 speaker placement. Is it that you guys usually just use the TV speaker? I personally never use the TV speaker and had disable it because the quality is never acceptable to me.

So if you guys happen to have nice TV cabinet design + consideration of speaker placements, please share...

At this moment, I think the headache is on center speakers and maybe real speakers... sub woofer just put at one corner so I think will not ugly the living room much.

Share share ya... notworthy.gif

You should post this in audiophiles forum. Anyway, I don't subscribe to putting good speakers in cabinet. The sound will be not great. Best option if you want look is wall mounting built in. Otherwise, the placement should be as per the speaker manufacturer instructions and most will not recommend to be in or on a cabinet as it is not rigid enough.

But what do I know. I am not big on multichannel. My Naim is only 2 channels.

Personally i think 5.1 speakers add sound dynamics. But on the dark side, even the most expensive speakers will cause wire clutter.

Went to kliav show yesterday. On the speaker side i think its quite subjective. Aesthetically wall mount or built in ceiling speakers can hide the wires.

Speakers come in many sizes and shapes. But i do like the fact that wireless nodes for speakers are getting more cheaper.

The reason I ask because I am in the middle of doing renovation... And want to make sure the wires are in place... Example like real speakers wiring... As well as cabinet design also in place... Example like Center speaker...

So far I had never see a TV rack that cater for Center speaker... All I see are just colorful and shining stuff...

I think my question is relation in this forum as it is more to the 'looks' rather than the 'sound'.

Yeah i know what u mean. But in reality its not easy to find the cabinets in market ngam2 because speakers are not in uniform shape as the tv. Summore its actually a 7 unit of objects with different shapes that u ned to fit in.

I know cos i have 2 sets of system that is totally different size. One is in use and the other is in the store because i decided to use the smaler form factor looks nicer.

But yes, i think the best bet to hide all those wires is to bury them inside the wall, or ceiling

Why not design the cabinet yourself to cater for what you need.
Get the cabinet makers to quote you.
With the information in hand you can then decide on wether to proceed or not. rclxms.gif

You could get any idea on some of the cabinets from here.
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1000020/+140

As for the speaker placement of the surround speakers, you should take a look at
http://www.dolby.com/consumer/setup/speake...uide/index.html

For speaker wires, you could refer to this.
http://www.audioholics.com/education/cable...ker-cable-gauge

For surround speaker's wiring, they could go above the ceiling.

Depending on your preference. If you are placing your TV onto the wall, then there should be allowance for the wiring behind the wall panel.
You can refer to here.
