SELANGOR have replaced their manager and signed three players on loan from Young Tigers ahead of the Malaysia Cup, which starts in September.

K. Devan has been relieved of his managerial duties with FA of Selangor (FAS) general secretary Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin taking over as manager for the remainder of the season.

FAS hopes the change will allow Devan to focus solely on his coaching duties to steer Selangor to their first Malaysia Cup victory since 2005.


The association has also signed Young Tigers B captain D. Saarvindran and two Young Tigers A reserve players -- Haziq Zikri Elias and Muhd Nazri Ahmad -- on loan until the end of the season.


Haziq, a striker who played for English club Stevenage FC's Under-18 side, and Nazri, a defender, are both fringe players in the Tigers' squad.

The trio, whose contracts with the FA of Malaysia (FAM) end in December, will be given permanent deals if they impress in the Malaysia Cup.


Their inclusion will bolster Devan's options in the squad, as Selangor's season has been hampered by injuries and an ineffective strike force after the departure of national striker Safee Sali to Indonesia's Pelita Jaya FC.

Devan tried out several players, including captain Amri Yahyah and Fadzli Saari, to fill the void left by Safee, but all failed to make an impression.

Selangor's uninspiring performance saw them finish third in the Super League.


It is also learnt that national captain Safiq Rahim and flanker Amirulhadi Zainal are planning to leave Selangor after the Malaysia Cup as they have received offers from Indonesian clubs.

As for the three new signings, Saarvindran, 19, is the one with the most potential. The former Olympic squad trainee, a midfielder-cum-striker, scored 10 goals in his first season with Tigers B in the 2010 Premier League season.

Saarvindran's impressive performance earned him a spot in the national Under-23 squad for a three-month stint to Slovakia last year but was subsequently dropped from the Olympic squad by coach Ong Kim Swee.

The Klang-born was again a star in this season's Premier League, where he once again top-scored for Tigers B with six goals.

"I am really excited to join Selangor," said Saarvindran, who will officially start training with his new team today.

"I am proud, thrilled and can't wait to get going now. Everyone can see that Selangor are a big club, a fantastic club, with tradition and great supporters.

"I want to play at the highest level and test myself in the biggest of games. My goal is to make a difference for Selangor in the Malaysia Cup."

Devan sang praises of his new signing, admitting his performance in the Premier League played a big part in his desire to bring him to Selangor.

"Saarvindran is a very hardworking midfielder, who can score goals and is versatile. Haziq and Nazri are also very good players.

"Their presence will boost Selangor's chances in the Malaysia Cup," said Devan.

SELANGOR manager Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin has confirmed that national team captain Safiq Rahim has made it "perfectly clear" that he wants to leave the team.
The midfielder has been linked with numerous top clubs in the Indonesia Super League after the national team won the AFF Cup for the first time last December. Hamidin said while Safiq wishes to leave, there is a glimmer of hope of keeping him with Selangor.

"Yes, Safiq wants to leave the club, he has made that perfectly clear. He spoke to me about the (Indonesian) offers a few days ago," said Hamidin yesterday.


"At the moment he is a Selangor player and will be treated like a Selangor player until he no longer is."


Indonesian news portals have over the past few weeks linked Safiq with Persib Bandung and Persija Jakarta.

Hamidin stressed that Safiq will not be released during the season. "I've told him (Safiq) to speak to me about it after the Malaysia Cup. We want him to focus on the mission ahead," he said.


Winger Amirulhadi Zainal is also rumoured to be linked with Indonesian clubs but Hamidin said the national player has not spoken to him about it.

Meanwhile, Selangor may drop one of their three new signings on loan from Young Tigers for a goalkeeper for next month's Malaysia Cup.

The three are Young Tigers B captain D. Saarvindran and two Young Tigers A reserve players -- Haziq Zikri Elias and Muhd Nazri Ahmad.


Third choice keeper Mohd Fairul Shahrullai has been ruled out of the Malaysia Cup due to injury and to replace him Selangor are looking at signing USM's G. Jeevananthan, who is on trial with the club.

"According to Malaysia Cup rules, we can hire a maximum of three players. Besides that, teams must register at least three goalkeepers.

"We may have to drop one of our new signings for Jeevananthan. An official announcement will be made soon," Hamidin added.

i guess thats the way to move forward...its hard for s'gor missing their two best player but in the long term,our national team will benefit greatly..well as long as he's not a bench warmer!

yup..persib & persija is wayyyy bigger club than pelita..he's not a guarantee starter for them unlike safee at pelita..on positive note,it will make him work a lot harder to be in starting 11..strong mentality is a must!

Selangor plan to unleash ex-EPL striker on LionsXII

AFTER being dealt a killer blow by Terengganu's lethal import Francis Doe Forkey, another formidable hitman, this time a former English Premier League forward, lies in wait for the LionsXII.

Selangor coach Irfan Bakti told The New Paper that former Aston Villa striker Bosko Balaban, 33, is set to face the LionsXII when the two teams with the most illustrious Malaysia Cup backgrounds (Selangor 32 wins, Singapore 24) resume battle at the Bukit Jalil Stadium next Wednesday.

He said: "The coaching team have already agreed that Bosko is of the quality that we demand, now it is up to the management to agree to sign him.

"We will have a meeting tomorrow, but I expect him to play against the LionsXII next week."
