My SGS2 is from UK but I did not have to travel all the way to UK to update thru Kies. Twice some more. It will update when there is an update available for the current firmware. The PDA/Phone/CSC is same for Malaysia and Singapore. If you wanted to change, just change the CSC thru dialpad to XME but it will hard reset the phone U can only update via kies in singapore.
