Looks like android market is not supported. I installed 3.1.5 but it always force close. So there are good and bad about CM7.

Also my ring tone only ring once instead of repeat. If I didn't hear it then that's it. One missed call.

I did. But it says USSD code error. And how do you type IMEI? IMEI = 4634?

Cannot use 3G. To me, CM7 is fast. I would say it is a sports car. And to make the sports car light weight, many things are taken out. No stereo, no carpet, etc... And I am not used to it. I will flash back to stock rom.

Myth is ok, but I don't see much advantages using Myth. How much is the difference between Myth n stock rom?

One thing I was disappointed with in CM7 was that there is no customization on the drop down short cut keys. I saw in youtube cyanogenmod 7 can add or reduce the short cut keys, but this is not inside the CM7 I installed. And from contacts, I cannot swipe right to call or left to sms. I hv to select and press the button. And sms/calls is what I do a lot. So that was where I said, enough... back to samsung stock rom.

Firmware: KC1/KC1/KC1(XME)

So that means the latest Kies update is not GB update. Still need to wait or get the rom from samfirmware.

Which version of Clockworksmod can I with froyo 2.2.1? I tried CWM4.0.0.9 but after install I cannot boot into recovery mod, even after i hv rooted my SGA.

after using a few roms, i think i like 2.2.1 best

Funny, now that you have mentioned it... i think there wasn't any. But wifi is still lousy.

what did u find is better than froyo? froyo is fast enough, use less ram.

I guess depends on which type of user and what you are looking for. Some would say CM7 is better than both froyo or GB. And there are ppl like me who feels froyo is good enough. Of course, there are those who like GB more than anything.

I found GB using a lot of ram. I couldn't get it down below 100MB. With froyo I can. So when I have a few more apps going on, froyo still lets me "work". While GB tends to freeze a bit when more apps are turned on. Anyone with GB feels the same?

Something about GB:-

Interested to compare, then read about it... if you need something in GB, then no choice, go get it. I don't have much issues with Froyo. Plus, some of the advantages in GB were already (or can also achieve) using 3rd party software, which in some case is better than those in GB. Here is the link:-

put it this way, in my personal experience, i find myself going to task manager more often to switch apps of, and clear things for more ram. With froyo, I dont use task manager so often. Because of my simple use, I am satisfied wtih froyo. It is, just an ACE not S2. So I dont do too much, expect too high.

hard to say if it is the phone, network, or perhaps sim card. I once had a faulty card and everything was difficult. And I stayed at an area where the network was pretty bad. So I didn't immediately diagnosed the right cause and wasted a lot of time. If you really want to solve the problem, visit your telco and sit and chat with them. They will try to help you out to determine which is the root cause.

I believe rooting the SGA does not help with your laggy issues. Perhaps someone else can comment. Rooting gives you more admin capability, which allows you to do more modification or customization. So unless your laggy is due to software... otherwise, try find another person who has SGA and swap to play for a while. You can tell if there is any difference.

I didn't experience any noticeable differences. Froyo and Gb would be the same in such comparison. I use opera too if you don't like the stock browser. I heard firefox also have a browser for android. check it out.

Lot of advice, just start reading from page one

Start reading the 2nd page, 3rd, 4th, .... you will understand why root, how to root, other roms, how to flash... very fast you will be bored of your phone and want to change to something new. Just keep reading until you get back to where you are now, page 61.

CMW = Chicken Mau Wang
CWM = clockworksmod
RC = release candidate

flash, means changing to another rom, means changing the software environment to another type, like changing from windows 7 to windows 8, or ubuntu.. that kind of change.
CWM is to help you in the change, if you want to change.
CMW is to help you in the change also, from boy to girl, or girl to boy.

How low can your ram go after the update?

You can root even if your firmware is 2.3.4.5.6.7.8.9 Gingerbread s5830xxxkpdxxx. As long as you have a working firmware, you can root it. But you need to find out what how to root, because there is slight difference between froyo and gb.
