Garfu or Garpu are not Malay words. Original came from Portuguese calls Garfo. So it should be Garfu.

I think is the slang of how they pronouce it. Then eventually it became a word - 'garfu'.

it suppose to be garfu...as it comes from Dutch word Gaffel...

that being said now it's been changed to Garpu...

I guess to make it more Malaysian...
