u still stuck at second time ....mine just once update..some other guys stuck but manage update for second..
may i suggest u try using OTA (over the air) update... none of us here using that function yet...all using KIES

go to setting---->about phone---->software update (this requiring 3G data/ WIFI enable)

maybe this will help u.. first person using OTA...hehehe

dunno ...maybe SME setting update thru kies only...

enter the Recover Mode this way: (credit goes to Riversource from XDA)

- Switch phone off
- Press Vol+ and Power Button
- as soon as the "SAMSUNG" appears release both buttons
- as soon as the "Android out of the Box" appears, press the Menu button.

Remark: Don't press the Home Button during power on! Otherwise you will enter the RAM Dump mode.

update using latest kies... then update OS latest one v 2.3.5
this update really improved battery life...

nope it wont void bcoz it was latest official firmware from Samsung Malaysia ... anything happen can claim waranty

ur phone is AP set or Ori SME set..?? Are the seller really exchange the set...did u check IMEI at back phone and the box are same number...don't get me wrong...just pre caution bcoz i had bad experience wif ap set b4

when u get replace set most unlikely the set won't be problem as previous one.. IF Ori set sent to authorise service centre repaired don't sent back to seller or IF Ap set....there are 2 option...

1st option, sent back to the seller rectify the problem/replaced again new set(if the set still can replaced by seller ) P/S:make sure u check both IMEI no. are same and seal sticker intact
2nd option, if cannot replaced the set/ problem still arise...you have to DIY like update the firmware at XDA website using ODIN... okay. other that dunno oredi..

find "mynewuser" in this thread...he/she will help u tutorial flash using ODIN

you said it works without sim card...
As from my point of view...i think ur SIM card is the culprit..try exchange fresh new SIM card from ur telco provider maybe it solved the preblem...okay...

yup..u can use that ROOT after update ur rom
just like mine

Recomended "3g watchdog" or "3g watchdog pro(paid version)" also u can set the quota following ur monthly pay usage e.g 1gb..1.5gb...3gb etc per month usage
plus add widget 3g watchdog at ur home screen to monitor

YES...u can flash M'sia Region firmware using ODIN only... and NO.. you cannot update thru Samsung Malaysia bcoz ur phone is AP set...so any official update firmware by Local Manufacturer is based on phone IMEI no.
As for warranty claim also cannot thru Samsung M'sia...have to sent back the seller/dealer where u bought the phone..

if u want latest firmware...u can get at XDA website and flash using ODIN only

and the rest like flashing etc...at xda dev website...

umm...urs phone is ori sme set right...if yes..can sent 4 warranty..if Ap set..sent back 2 seller/dealer where u bought the phone 4 their warranty...
