Even the Intel HD3000 driver for Win 7 64-bit..........they release on the Asus web is actually for win 7 32-bit but they put it for 64-bit doh.gif

If you dun wan Nv 280 then at least get 27x version cause there is 30% from the 267 version

It seems the Optimus is not working optimum as it should.

http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/60268...sf-n75sf-2.html

From here, there r complains of low FPS than it should when gaming hmm.gif The graphic card will undervolt itself under heavy gaming causing lags and low FPS issue and Asus didnt provide any latest driver updates.Wat u can try is installing the latest Nvidia driver (280.26) through modded inf but it's at ur own risk.

Hmm....it seems as though there are problems for this model? Kind of makes me think twice.

Not sure. Some are just going to keep their mouths shut before any confirmation. I'm waiting for confirmation from the dealers as well.

Most probably driver issues coz of the switching between Intel graphic card and Nvidia hmm.gif hopefully Asus will release updates for this. The main point of switching graphic cards is to save power consumption when u dont need it and less heat..but in the end it proves to be a pain in the @ss hmm.gif Cant install latest Nvidia drivers directly because of Optimus sad.gif

The Optimus technology seems like a hassle to me. Hopefully they'll release updates before I go and get mine.

It helps in conserving battery life...but as wat u says,it's sounds like more hassle than to be useful.

Sure, conserving battery life is important, but then again if it disturbs the very usage of the laptop, then what's the use. Oh and you have formatted yours and installed Ultimate is it?

Not just optimus.ATI auto switching also have problen as pointed out in HP dv6 thread.its because its a fairly new technology that allows u to switch back n forth between GPUand Intel HD3000.
And then again this has nothing to do with the laptop.its just software problem.

I've tried the ATI auto switching before. It only works for games like RE5 and such. Yeah...of course its all about the software. But then again, for some people like me, whose only interest is in using the laptop, makes it a complete turn off. I'm never good at all these drivers and things.

Its part of the learning curve if u want to keep up with the latest technology in mobile computing.if u dont want any trouble with auto switching get HP-dv6114/6108tx.i heard it did not suffee from auto switching problem.it uses ATI6770.

my optimus nothing wrng wor.. @@

gpu temps at 81 aso not hrottle.. that's the max it can go.. @@

(of cz.. some programs it din auto detect need gpu.... so manually set the program to use nvidia once then can forget adi.. tongue.gif )

the problem frm the link u posted... i suspect either two probs..

1)asus set the throttling temp for gpu too low....

2)faulty driver for gt555m...

since it's the clock that goes up and down.. not the load...

so.. means it is not switching between intel and nvidia.. it is using nvidia all the way....

but sumhow..

throtlle happened....

BUT that is just one machine...

the others???

Added on August 20, 2011, 2:51 pmoptimus saves a list of programs frm nvidia that needs gpu to run...

when u run a program.. if it matches the list, nvidia kicks in...

that's optimus....

but u knw la.. Jack Sparrow version sumtimes nt recognized.... or newer programs nt recognized... so it will nt ''auto'' kick in.. BUT u can set the program to default use nvidia wert....

so no problems la.. exactly same like ATI .... semi-manual switching ba...
lolx
