Based on my experiences, I still have to say that go for the laptop you like most
You won't like a laptop you don't like, regardless of how good the specs are haha

Previous ones are made from aluminum iinm...
New ones are mostly made from plastics with rubberized surfaces

I'm planning to mod my U2 with 2 Artic cool F-12 fans (suggested by AlexLai) hehe~
Wanna try too? The cooling will surely be better~

Its a very tough decision to make
The rational choice would be to go for better cooling haha~

Abit of an update after coming back from LYP

Err... its hard to explain what its like, maybe you can take a look at photos of the touchpad buttons, the buttons are "integrated" into the palm rest, meaning that when you open the lid, there's a chance of pulling the touchpad buttons instead (but may its just me being very rough haha)

I've always loved the Asus N series keyboard buttons.. they're large and comfortable to type on., and are quite accurate
The additional multimedia keys seemed "deliberately cramped" into the keyboard haha

Notebook materials: I'm not very impressed. Imho, glossy materials shouldn't be made available already (its a design of the past)- the lid is very easily scratched. The palm rest plastic seemed hollow, very awkward. Keyboard is nicely made but I'm not sure whether the silver color-ed paints will drop off or not in the long run.

Overall looks: This is very subjective haha. But I really don't like the design even though the specs are awesome. The screen is too thick, with an uneven silver frame surrounding it. Speaker grill holes are weird, some big, some small Keyboard is okay, palm rest not okay haha...

Sorry if I'm a bit harsh.... I have to admit that I'm a bit disappointed with this new batch of N series compared to the previous ones

Rest assured, the multimedia keys won't get in your way....
Because if you take a look at the old N43Sl:


There are still space in between the left and right side of the keyboard. What they did on the N45Sf (should be similar in the N55Sf as well) is fit one more column of multimedia keys into the keyboard~
There's minimal shift in the keyboard layout, so typing should still be a breeze imho

Ya, the thing is, specs ain't everything for everyone
Some prefer light + long battery life budget laptops~
The U36 is considered very good in terms of specs if compared to other laptops like the Toshiba Portege
And the design depends on preference... I have to admit the design may resemble Dell Inspirons/Vostro/XPS... but still okay la, looks quite nice
