good day everyone. today was a really tiring day for me due to alot places to run the whole afternoon and not forget i went to taman muda to help out daniel to restore a persona at the same time, the persona was done very well but too bad i didnt bring my camera along, what a waste.. before i reached back home, a friend of mine who called me to ask me to remove some of the scratches he hit the past few days. tho i was really tired and exhausted but my heart still burning when comes to detailing, instead having dinner with my girlfriend, i ask him to drop by at my place. upon arrival..

please click this link to read more of my post. cheers!

and also i found this interesting post from inspiraclub.com, i assume the original post is from here. i just wish to tell this person that your coating can be remove by compounding it.

I did PPS for my black Inspira early this month, & that was one of the worst thing I've ever done to my car (my car is not even 6 months old...). I understand that after applying PPS, the company claim that Ur car's paint won't fade & Ur car will get showroom-like shine for years. Plus, after reading some of the newspaper articles posted in their website, I had this impression that after applying PPS, you just have to wash Ur car regularly & any dirt or whatever you can just wipe clean. So I thought okla, since I dun really have time to really take care of my car & as most of you guys here know, black car can be very difficult to take care of.

I spend quite a substantial amount to have PPS for my car plus I added about RM120 for windscreen protectant (somewhat like Rain-X). That very weekend (I applied PPS on Thursday), watermarks started to appear on the car. Granted I didn't rinse the car over after rain. Ok fine, the company said they dun guarantee against watermarks. But since the PPS was so high-tech, I find it difficult to believe it couldn't even prevent watermarks from forming. & prior to applying PPS, my car didn't have any watermarks. Ok, so I sent the car back to the company & they cleaned it using a special cleaner costing about RM80 (after discount) & told me I should rinse my car after rain. Funny enuff, right after I got outta the shop, it rained & when I got home, the watermarks started to appear edi.

Nowadays it's rainy season. & my car has become sorta watermark magnet. Even immediately after washing, if it rains, watermarks would appear. & those watermarks will only disappear after using that special cleaner. So, instead of getting easier to care for, now I find that it's become more cumbersome & my car require more care than before. Previously my car hardly have any watermarks at all.

So I should've been a member with those car wash providing waxing service like Shine Shine or whatever. & I just wished I could just peel this PPS coating away. Haih...

A -ve review by a member from LYN......

you can remove the coating away by compounding it. dont worry, coating is still a coating, it can be remove and re-apply. watermarks are mostly caused by acid rain/water when its evaporate under the sun and the mineral leaves behind will cause serious damage to the clear coat. but when you say the watermarks appear when after rain, i must say the previous watermarks didnt remove properly. from my experience in detailing, watermarks only can be remove by compounding with a rotary (best result) i do not use any acid/cleaner to the clear coat cause its harmful to human and the car. to see further more of removing watermarks please visit http://prodetailing.blogspot.com/2011/07/w...pticoating.html

haha thank you bro! but, i've got nothing to suggest, is just whether you have the heart to restore it. i dont mind using any products but the product im using will save up alot cost, time, energy and provide greater protection.

I've seen it on Dessimo's. Actually come to think of it, maybe I won't do it after all. When my tyres go out, I'll probably change to 18's or something. Our 16's aren't cheap.. CCC5 costs about 400 each? Might as well take the leap to 18's IMO. But I dunno how much comfort will be affected >.<
PM'ed you.
That's nice and all, but even after compounding, the waterspots will still appear if you don't dry your car after rain right? compounding is just removing the topmost layer where the water spots are etched, so that solves nothing. Glad to know that PPS won't solve my problem either, at least I won't have to waste money. Guess I'll just have to live with the spots then, and polish/wax every once in awhile. No sheltered parking huu huu.

buddy, you can make the difference. put more effort and heart on it. lets meet up for coffee, we can discuss about how to minimize it. hope to hear from you soon.

So this OPC can be an all-in-one shampoo? I went to ACE looking for a car shampoo..stumped by so many choices....ranging from so cheap to expensive...in the end intended to buy spannar for my battery terminal also forget...seems like our the size is 10, since i measure the width of the nat is 1cm....

any recommended car wash shop in penang? I see most are handled by bangla's.... sweat.gif
*
dont have to recommend, wash your car by yourself when you can do it besides polish. the key to keep your car in its best condition is by whether the owner willing to sacrifice some time to protect it. i'll be meeting a person there end of august, come drop by if you are interested.

what's OPC?
*
OPC as known as Optimum Power Clean its a multi-purpose cleaner that can dilute to suit your needs.

for engine dilute 1:3 interior 1:5 for exterior 1:8

OPC is safe for clear coat too unlike acid degreaser that will leave whitish stain on it. power clean also can use to remove tar, bird poop, dirt, grime, grease and etc. just remember after brush with OPC must rinse quickly with a microfiber cloth. to see know more about OPC please read this link below.

So when using ONR, i just apply it and wipe it directly like using a glass cleaner? No need to rinse? Can I use that as my "weekly"/"bi-weekly" wash?
lacteavia : the carpet cost RM 300,000!?  shocking.gif
*
ONR means Optimum NO Rinse. doesnt require rinsing since its not soapy. no worries, meet up if possible. i slowly explain it to you.

Since we are on taking care of the car paint topic now, may I ask about rain. Just another look at it. If it rains in the morning and you are in your office. There is a strong midday sun heat. What do you do to take care of the paint in this scenario? Just rinse the car when you are back home in the evening? Has damaged been done during the hot afternoon? You don't go out in the car park after the rain stops in the morning just to rinse the car right? I mean you are being unique at your workplace doing so.
*
good point lacteavia. if is a protected car the waterspots wont etch into the paint that fast, you can rinse it and wipe it dry after you came home. if is not a protected one the waterspots still need a period of time to etch into the paint. waterspots will etch into your paint after a long period bake under the sun everyday as the mineral leaves behind after evaporated. waxing will be needed to prevent all these.
