No I'm not. Currently I'm a Perodua user with Alza, Myvi and Viva. But will soon plan to get at least one Proton, either Persona R Turbo or Inspira. But might get myself a Saga 1.6 FLX as a stop gap if the waiting for launching of (a reliable) Persona R Turbo is too long.

BTW, ranting online is to warn others. Sharing (info/issues) is caring, don't you think?

Sharing info is one thing, but not endless ranting lor. You must know when to rant and when to take real action.Just ranting will not get you anywhere. Just don't ends up like Kyheng.....sad excuse of a human being...all rants and never own an Inspira. tongue.gif

As for Campro Turbo, i am still skeptical. Been reading some write up on turbo engine, seems like maintining and driving a turbo engine needs a lot more care than normal aspirated engines. Seriously, i'll rather wait for a while..maybe 2 years at least to see how this Turbo Campro turns out....dun wanna be white mice....with exisitng MIVEC engine, it has already been tested and proven for years....smile.gif

nakTT: I don't think it'll make any difference whether you search or not. Ultimately we want to make this to be a homely place, where people can freely share, rant and say out their good or bad things without being hentam balik in the face instantly. People should feel at ease, when they face problem they can find a solution by coming here. brows.gif . Even if you're not an inspira owner currently, feel free to drop in if you heard any news or u have any questions to ask or even just to get info abt the car. The taiko taiko here have been very patient with me even though I'm a car noob sweat.gif .

Said that, I forgot to snap pic of my glove compartment when I left for work! doh.gif

For me I can't wait for 2 years (but it is a wise of you to do it, I have to admit) coz need to let go one of the Perodua (probably the Viva) to make way for a better handling car (Proton). At most I can wait for the Turbo to become a reliable one is less than a year. If things doesn't look so good, I might as well go for FLX 1.6 as a stop gap. Inspira would be my 3rd choice.

BTW, I don't anything wrong to rant about Proton's car (not only Inspira) as a sad thing to do. Do remember if all people online just keep quite, do you think Proton would improve as it is today? I also rant about their cars coz I have interest in them (as a potential customer), which I don't think is a sad thing to do.

Yes, we are just trying to keep a friendly community here. On and off we get some forumers who drop by and post some nasty remarks, etc.. Its not that we are pro supporters or die hard fans of proton but we just drive their car due to it meet our needs and within our budget range. We have done some homework before deciding to buy another proton car. So when some ppl just drop by and shoot blindly, we will naturally be defensive and shoo off these shallow ppl. Logical?

snowfish, I think your damper is missing. There should be an plastic absorber like thingy holding the side of the glove box and the dash area. Its like a mini plastic damper u have on your boot. Pls go back to your SA to claim it. He would probably "steal" from another unit in the yard. If you go back to SC, they will quote you that thing and deny warranty claim as they cannot ascertain if you took it out yourself.

Yeah Ok, I already inform my SA about it and he's looking for it for me already....dont care where he got it from i just want my damper back sad.gif.

So to all future owners, please check the damper. don't be like me like that, checked the big things but din't check the glove compartment thoroughly.

say....is it worth the hassle to install a light which will turn on whenever i open the glove compartment?

Can anyone snap a pic of their glove compartment with the damper? So that i can bring it to show the SA in case he find anything different...

Hi, I hope that you can get a picture of what you said up there. It would help a lot for those who are looking into buying an Inspira.

I myself is quite critical about proton. That is said after my dad's wira broke down for countless time, I am quite skeptical. But, I do believe in improvement, and I think that Inspira should be better now. As long as the engine and the critical components of the car is not of low quality, then all matters can be fix. My car is giving me problem lately, and I am looking into changing for a new car, Inspira is the one I am looking at right now. The thing is, I can't seem to find a time to test drive it yet....

Proton quality has improved by leaps and bounds no doubt about it. However its those small little things that QC team have frequently overlooked....

The wira eh,,,despite the many problems it has...I think its still one of the car I love the most...My current wira is with me for 17 years liao thumbup.gif . Last year spent a fortune on her though, change shafts, bushings, engine mount, Water pump, fuel filter, gearbox, air con system, brakes, timing belt, power windows...etc.... I can buy a 2nd hand wira with the amount i spent sweat.gif

At least there's one thing that you can be sure 99% its dem good, their Air con.... rclxms.gif

oh yes, their aircon is legendary. Of all the things that broke down in my dad's old car, the aircon seems to be invisible LOL

How is the pickup and the fc of 2.0 CVT? Anyone know about this?

Pickup at low end is good enough to me. I'll say it better than a 1.6 Forte auto which i've tested, but from 120km/h - 160km/h....is very easy....in fact...just kick up the rev to 4k - 4.5k rpm into the MIVEC zone and the car will fly, even at lower speed...but of course, if drive like that sure makan minyak lor....

Normal city driving 100% jam is 8km/l - 9km/l. Highway 100km/h-160km/h is 14 km/l. If you constantly drive at 90km/h, probably you can achieve 16km/l.

I just finished my 1st tank of petrol for my 2.0P...after 2 weeks of city driving and i got 400km which used up abt 45L of BHP RON95. I would think it's not bad for a 2.0 in city drives. And also the fact the engine is still tight....i'm sure it'll improve as more mileage are clocked in.

Oh...and pick up is pretty good too...although i've yet to rev it past 3000rpm tongue.gif

This is my 3rd Proton...after a Wira and a Waja. Some people said I was mad to get another Proton but as far as I'm concerned...it fits my budget. No point taking huge loans and long tenure just to drive a mid-sized Jap or an affordable Conti if its gonna lead to a financial disaster later.

What would be important is the after-sales service. If there's any problem, it must be rectified competently.

So far so good smile.gif

Cheers.

Thanks a lot for the info, Matrix.

One more question: Proton SA did mention to me that the City's CVT will spoilt sooner or later if the user suddenly rev high, like at 1k rpm suddenly rev to 5-6k rpm. He said sooner or later the rubber inside the CVT for City will lose it's grip. I did some research on this, althought I can;t specifically find the issue he said, the CVT inside the City and Inspira seems to be using the same type, althought Lancer's CVT is called INVECS-III CVT. Both uses chain belt and both are same in regards of how they function technically.

When I asked the SA how about the Inspira CVT, will it have the same issue as City's? he diverted my question.

Sorry if i sound sceptical, but this is an issue in my head since the SA mentioned it to me. I hope you guys can help me clarify this.

Thanks a lot

Inspira CVT is from Jatco, while Honda develop theirs in-house.

Honda's CVT is generally OK,just that their SC mechs fill up the CVT with ATF instead of CVTF. That was the main trigger of the death of their CVT. Not really the design or manufacturing of Honda's fault.

Whether Inspira's CVT will suffer from problems nobody knows, but Jatco is the forerunner for CVT right now, so we're having one of the best CVT we can get right now in the market.

@runemasterplan:

Honda use CVT developed in house...while Inspira/Lancer use Nissan's Jatco CVT. This CVT is used in all the NISSAN cars now, infact, it's the same model in Nissan Sylphy....so what do you think? Nissan is forerunner in CVT tech. But there is one persistent problem with CVT if you google the issue. There might be some problem of lost of power due to CVT overheat...but the case is not that many i suppose. Proton has actually improved the cooling design of the CVT in the original Lancer, but of course, it might not 100% guarantee eliminate the problem. But at least, we get an improved version of Lancer...haha (Lancer fanboy butthutt moar...).

Just remember to change CVT oil every 40k or less (Proton recommend 80k km....but most Lancer guys do it at around 40k...), better spend a little money and keep ur CVT healthy...and stand next to the mechanic when they change oil, make sure they put in the Mitsubishi Diaqueen CVTF oil and not some ATF oil!!!
