i'm the only one using umobile among friends ATM, so is totally useless to me. what i damn dulan is the advertisement at 7-11 say top up RM30 free 100 sms. den i ask the cashier at 7-11, she nod her head and say "tak tau". wtf?? ok, i go back n wait for decades, asking at u.com.my, and even go flame their fb page. result: no ppl diao me at all, not only me but oso got other users dun get their free 100 sms. dat's the reason i say their promotion mechanism is suck till the end of the world; in terms of level of exposure and also reliability. mad.gif

hey since you are using umobile, i would like to ask u a few questions  tongue.gif

Umobile says we can only consume the 3G services within their coverage area, what happens if we go outstation like ipoh or johor that is not within their coverage?

Will it have line, at all at those places?

the umobile price is so tempting, i am so keen so sign up one for my sgs2  thumbup.gif

JB quite good. KL good. other places not sure

why not buy the package, try for 1 month and see u like it or not lah. only RM 28. worst case, you lose that money only

YES doesn't use " sim cards" which we are commonly associates with our phone telcos. It is all builtin on their USB dongle, huddle etc

YES is basically a wireless broadband option. You can refer tro www.yes.com.my for more info. Most people buy the HUddle which is just a wireless hotspot which allows up to 5 users connecting to it. Or buy the USB dongle - plug in to your USB port ( similar to those USB Huawei type modems)

It is really very fast ; when I am surfing on my SGS !I , I disable my 3G and connect to the YES Huddle. MY place which is new on YES and still poor coverage , even at the worst RED signal, I can get 1.5 to 3.0 Mbps . Compared to normal 3G/Edge my place averaging 0.7 to 1.0 Mbps. My house Steamyx wifi ranging 0.7 to 1.2 Mbps. When I am in KL, I can get download speeds minimum 3.0 to 9.0 , sometimes 10-11 Mbps too
I subscribed to the monthly RM 30 package as I don't use it heavily

so for s2, we still can use "yes". just need to connect via usb to the 'yes' dongle?

If you want to use SGS2 with YES, get the HUDDLE . The USB dongle is meant to plug in notebook or PC, use as a modem. Either one, your SGS 2 will detect HUDDLE as a wireless hotspot and your notebook/PC  as wireless hotspots .
Checkup YES website to understand more - it is self explanatory there

thx benny. the huddle seems like a portable (w/ its own battery) wifi modem. sounds interesting

how long can this last with a single charge?

is there similar things (portable wifi) for standard 3g sim card?

The HUDDLE main duisadvantage : VERY VERY HOT , just into an hour usage - you can feel it " burning " your palms. I figure is at lesast 50-55 degree Centigrade. Battery life is 5 hours maximum

Alternative - yes you can - those portable MIFI where you put in a 3G simcard,  but what for ??? The download speeds is same or even worse than your phone. These only for those who use tablets which doesn't have 3G sim enabled cards and connect to it as a wifi hotspot. And these MIFI is bloody expensive RM 400 to RM700 Huawei brand

example : http://www.lelong.com.my/kx/mifi.htm

reason is i have 2 sim. 1x celcom, 1x u mobile

celcom - good voice and sms rate (corporate rate)
u mobile - good data plan

anyway, thx uncle benny. will hv a look at it

btw, another option for me is to use the dual sim adapter thing. i have asked around but nobody seems to reply to it :-(

You ask for advise but you do not follow. Lastnite before I buzz off I quote:

" Really strange. If you really want it , than I suggest you flash first stock XXKG6 ( from intratech link or samfirmware) , follow by speedmod kernel than only Litening 5"

So did you follow ? How come you are now on KF1 and why do two types of rooting kernel - CF root and Ninpo ?? I advise you to do such as you are in an unique situation; so I was thinking you flash stock and Litening kernel should help

What is this dual sim adapter ? care to show me a link to such stuff.

www.magicsim.com

basically combine 2 sim in 1 adapter which has similar size as a normal sim card

they use software to switch from 1 sim to another

So, why don't you try it ?? US$19 , not too expensive ( according to ink from Slekerz)

Added on August 8, 2011, 10:31 pm
YES - in principle you can flash any firmware from any region. Give us your source and I can verify for you again
*
slekerz's one if not mistaken cannot support s2

only magicsim and simore claim can support

i don't dare to try it by myself cuz not familiar with it. first off, have to cut the sim and then not sure if 100% working or not
