Looking for a recommendation, currently holding (primarily) Alliance Plat for around 8 yrs.

1. Annual Income: RM100K and above

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: No

3. Card required for: All daily spending

4. Existing credit cards if any: Alliance Plat, IKEA Friends

5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: -

6. Others: I am looking for the ideal card for generating MAS Enrich Miles

7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: varies, 5-20k per month, usually around 80-100k p.a.

thanks,

been using alliance because i also get the cash back + the miles. since its mostly normal spending amex seems a good choice. does the maybank combo has the same conversion rate as the regular amex ?

AMEX MBB2 seems to be perfect. cash back limited to weekends but 1,2 RM = 1 mile is pretty great. thanks! have to calculate the values vs. what i get right now to see.

reason for the miles: they seem to be more worth it than the other stupid gifts and vouchers (to me) so i am pretty keen on them. current spending gives me almost one free trip to europe with mas.

thanks again for all the pointers. the problem comes when you want to see which card gives you the overall best return. have to factor in the cash back and minus possible charges. aiyah... will do that tomorrow.

but amex MBB2 seems to be spot on. i can even make use of some cash back through weekend purchases. and when amex is not accepted i can revert to alliance. balancing the spending properly might be tricky.

for petrol: this issue solved itself through the wonder of company paid petrol (have to use their card) which has reduced personal petrol purchases to such a small amount (maybe 100 RM per month) that it didnt warrant getting an additional card just for petrol. if we get MMB2 then can pump on the amex though so that "problem" would be solved too.

i looked into MBB VI as well. 4500 points for 2250 RM spening is not bad to get 1000 miles, but it means i need to spend 2,25 per mile without any additional cash benefits (i dont golf!). so MBB2 amex seems to be better (a lot) if i want to maximise miles and (if possible) get some cashback. also i wont have to look at the amount i spend and can safely spread the money across cards where and when needed.

totally appreciate the input - you guys are ever so much more versed in the world of cards. i only used citibank, rhb and alliance so far. any other offers i usually just decline because additional cards are additional hassle...

yes i came to the same conclusion.

Alliance Bank Plat: spend 5k gets me 68,75 cashback + 5000 pts (assume ideal spending) = 833 miles; assuming one mile has a value of 5sen i have a total of 68,75+41,65 (miles) = 110,40 value

MBB2 Amex: 5k gets 25k points and (worst case) no cash back. 25k pts get 3571 miles = 178,55 RM value + any cashback i might be able to get.

will file an application and keep alliance visa in case i run into a place where they just wont take amex - the MBB2 Visa seems like a waste of pocket space or am i missing something there?

thanks again for the pointers and the overview for airline cards.
