For your spending pattern, best is OCBC Titanium MasterCard where you earn 5% cash back for Petrol, Hypermarket, Maxis, Astro and TNB if the total comes out to be less than RM1K

However if you want FREE method of payment, then go for Maybankard 2 Cards where you still can earn 5% cash back AND 5X Treats Points for Petrol and Hypermarket and everywhere else where you physically swipe with your card. Some online transactions do not earn you the 5% cash back on weekends due to merchant timing of processing it.

All transactions with the MBB 2 is guaranteed 5X TP. Maxis accept AMEX, I am not sure if ASTRO accept AMEX, please go to Places That Accept AMEX thread for more info.

Click here to read more about Maybankard 2 Cards.

Also check out this article UOB One card where I have prepared a table comparing different cards.

i have to stick to the same advice don apply too many CC
better list down your spending then only decide which card to keep to avoid over spending
if for high reward point recomand mbb2cards

but i wont recommand to keep so many CC since earning only 36k per annum
more CC holding = higher chance of over spending

Agree with joeduff - OCBC TMC
With your expenses less than RM1K, go cancel HSBC cards next year so that you won't be robbed (following zenquix way of seeing things) RM100 for GST tongue.gif

Once again, agree with joeduff, go get MBB 2 and earn 5X Treat Points plus cash back.

But is you are talking about merchant (like for insurance) that does not accept AMEX, look into Alliance Bank Plat Credit Cards or Plat Debit Card where you can earn up to 1.5% cash back.

If you do indeed use up to RM5K per month on most months, Alliance Cebit Card can earn you up to 1.5% cash back PLUS reward points. The Alliance Plat Debit Card earns you 1.5% cash back for all transaction but there is a cap too.

Like hye said, OCBC strict, some people having Plat HSBC and MBB also cannot qualify for the card but others like you having less than RM36K were issued the card. If you don't apply, you'll never know. No harm trying.

Hi! Great to see there's a thread like this. Please recommend the suitable CC for me, thanks a bunch.

1. Annual Income: RM24K to RM30K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must

3. Card required for: List all your needs. Petrol, Cash Back/Rebate Only, Online Transactions.

4. Existing credit cards if any: None

5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: Citibank, OCBC, UOB, Public Bank.

6. Others : Basically, I'm applying CC just for my convenient use, like some of the online transactions only allow using CC, or when I don't have cash in hand, which I know I'm able to pay it back at the next month.

7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: Less than RM1K.

For your case, UOB One Card, but I read somewhere (must be UOB Thread) that UOB card got some issue in regards to Online transactions for certain security measure. Go ask at UOB thread.

Click here to read about UOB One Card.

If you can proof your income about RM30K/yr, also look at Maybankard 2 Cards.

most important thing is you must pay back before the due date to avoid interest chargs.

Please click here and read this artilce CC are Cash Cow For Banks. Are you working for the banks?

hahaha, just the way I described Gen Y - product of our education system, just want fast answer without working for it.

I guess for your case I'll make it short - Maybankard 2 Cards Gold. If you want it fast, go to Maybank 1U or KLCC card centre. Want more info, go read below article, that is if you free and no headaches tongue.gif

Hi, I am back, and after more reading and digging, I am now dizzying.

Ok, I always have the perception that what ever you buy with a CC, you have to pay more. EG: RM2,000 if cash, but if CC then end of month will be RM2,0xx. But after some more reading, especially one of the plan that I have, buying a TV set, pay in 12 month installment with 0%, so meaning if RM2,000 by end of 12 month, I pay RM2,000? Assuming I pay on time/early.

But then I read somewhere you will be charged extra if pay early, so can I make my CC into something like a Debit Card? Meaning I know every month I need to pay RM300, I just give advance payment of RM400, for 3 months in a row, and the 4th month I did not pay in time, (bank only will charge/kill you when delay payment etc right?) do I still get charged? Since I always overpay and paid early for the last 3months, I should have extra RM300 to cover my ass.

Sorry for getting you guys rclxub.gif . Will try to re-phrase if you can't understand the stupid me. icon_rolleyes.gif

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

Oh yeah, I am planning CIMB's CC or Maybank (like you suggested), if a showdown between these two, which would benefit me more? Both also can pay (w/o extra charge) via their own online portal right(Maybank2u/Clicks)?

If for petrol, definitely Maybankard 2 Cards. For online, wshoh have been saying that CIMB deemed your purchase online thru Applestore.com.my as overseas transaction even though it is in RM. Also read this Thread by idoblu on CIMB online security.

Click here to read my latest article titled Best Credit Cards for Petrol and Movies.

As for installment plan 0%, yes no interest charges if you pay on time amount stated in the Monthly Statement. And yes, some cards do charge you exit fee if let say you pay up in full by the 6th month for the 12 months installment plan. Anyway, no benefit if you pay more in advance since you sign up for 12 months 0% installment plan.
