Mostly I will spend on
1) Esso Petrol Station (But now is slowly changing to Petron, I'm lost lolx) or Petronas if cant find Esso, spend up to RM 300 per month.
2) Maxis broadband bill RM 68 per month
3) Groceries is carrefour/giant (Varies from RM 50 to 250)
4) Shopping (jusco, and other clothing stores, amount varies from RM 50 to 250)
5) Dining (everywhere that accept credit cards, amount varies from RM 80 to 300)
6) Cinema (GSC or TGV).

Hmm, for cinema, it is ok, as current I use Hong Leong GSC card only give me 10% rebate which is not much like OCBC and Maybank 2k card offer lolx.. OCBC and Maybank 2k use together is good, but I only want to have one credit card, as RM 50 GST per credit card lolx.. Oh yea, added one more thing, my annual income is less than RM 36k  sad.gif

Based on above, total may come out to more than RM1K, and you have yet to include insurance (which most probably won't accept AMEX). Based on the above, first choice will be OCBC Titanium MasterCard since it will earn you 5% everyday for petrol, maxis, dining and groceries. If you spend more than RM10K/year, OCBC will reward you with RM50 bonus cash rebate. Currently OCBC credit card offering Free 1 for 1 movie ticket at GSC until end of this month. Click here to read more on Free 1 for 1 Movie tickets offered by Citibank, MBB 2 Platinum and OCBC credit cards.

So, go apply for OCBC Titanium, no harm trying. But if you don't want to take the trouble for now, just apply for MBB 2 Cards.

Here is an example of the returns you will get:

For MBB 2, here is the minimum you will earn with the MBB 2 AMEX for the minimum amount stated.

Pump RM300 at Esso, earn 1500TP (if you pump at Petronas you only earn 1xTP with the Visa or MC which is still better than HLB ZERO).
Maxis RM68 340 TP
Groceries RM50 250TP
Shopping at JJ RM50 250TP
Dining RM80 400TP

Total minimum Treats Points per month 2740 TP or for a year 32880TP where 10,000 use to offset GST following year and still got 20K+ points to redeem up to RM100 cash vouchers smile.gif And if you transact on weekends (less the Maxis amount which you got no control when it is charged), you will earn extra RM24/month or RM288 cash back per year. So with minimum spending you can "earn" up to RM388 after deducting the points for GST smile.gif And also you can charge your insurance to the MBB 2 MasterCard or Visa to earn 1X TP ( approximately 0.5% returns).

Compared to OCBC [(RM300+68+50+80)x5%] + [50 (JJ) x 1%] = RM25.1/month or RM301.2 per year. Go add your insurance premium 1% to this amount.

But like I said earlier, if you spend more than RM1K, combining both MBB and OCBC TMC is the best.

As for cinema, Citibank Clear Card really good if you watch movies on Fridays at GSC, TGV and Cathay and Free 1 for 1 at TGV on Saturdays. Also if you have RHB debit card, you get FREE 1 for 1 movie ticket on Fridays with RHB debit or credit cards

What is the best card for getting unlimited maximum rebate/points for retail spending?
*
For local use, MBB 2 AMEX for it's 5X TP
For overseas use, Maybank VI for its 5X TP

QUOTE(echoesian @ Jun 24 2012, 04:52 PM)
Ok let's put aside MBB2 AMEX, currently I have SCB Platinum Business Visa which has the combined 1% rewards (0.5% for unlimited cash back and 0.5% for points), I wonder is there any other card that is better than this card?
*
If put MBB 2 AMEX aside, then AMEX's AMEX cards with Turbo points is good since one earns unlimited 1.5% cash back credited into account. Actually all AMEX's AMEX cards earns the cardholder minimum 1% cash back with minimum 2X MR (for plat can go up to 10X MR).

you getting 0.5% returns from SCB points? For non AMEX, I think HLB Essential with 1% pure cash back is better.

Edited/More comments

Let's do a comparison based on shopping vouchers SCB Business versus MBB VI for local transactions (for overseas no need to compare lah)

SCB - Isetan and Giant RM50 voucher needs 12000 points (0.416%) and when consider 0.5% cash back total = 0.92%
SCB - Hush Puppies, MJ, Courts, Guardian and Popular RM50 voucher needs 12,500 (0.4%) and when consider 0.5% cash back total = 0.9%
SCB - KFC, McD and Tesco RM50 voucher needs 13000 points and when consider 0.5% cash back total = 0.88%
SCB - Jusco (AEON) - RM50 voucher needs 13,500 points and when consider 0.5% cash back total = 0.87%

versus MBB VI 2X Treats Points for local transactions

Popular, Giant and TESCO RM10 voucher 3000 points or 0.66% (stay away from RM10 voucher with 3000 points, better wait as MBB Treats Points are evergreen)
McD - RM10 voucher 2700 points of 0.74% (still not worth it)
Tesco and Giant RM50 voucher 11000 points or 0.9% (here SCB for Giant better)
Jusco (AEON) RM100 voucher 21000 points or 0.95%
Hush Puppies RM50 voucher 8500 points or 1.17%
MJ RM50 voucher 9000 points or 1.11%
Coffee Bean RM10 voucher 1800 points or 1.11%

So from above, it looks like if want unlimited cash back, HLB Essential at 1% better than SCB. But if your MBB card earns you 2X Treats Points and you don't mind getting cash vouchers, then maybe MBB 2X TP better if you patronize the merchants that offer RM50 vouchers for less than 10,000 points.

But if merchant can use MBB 2 AMEX (for local transactions), it's a no brainer.

although it is free for life...the problem now is the government tax...if you keep it..then every year pay RM50....
right?
*
Yes, that's correct, but that reply was in reference to a need for a standby card. Any standby card that is not utilize will be subjected to GST also. So ask yourself, you want a standby card that has no annual fee or a card that offer many benefits but you don't utilize them and pay the annual fee? That's why in fruitie's case, I mentioned she has to go to the banks' websites and see which card can offer her discount since her current cards are adequate for her routine usage.

Please differentiate between tax and annual fees. All credit cards are subjected to GST, that's the law. Of course, it does not makes sense to have a particular credit card if you don't use it. For example, the MBB 2 AMEX earns the card holder 5% cash back plus 5XTP but the card holder only pumps at Petronas and don't need a card for anything else, does it makes sense for the guy to keep the Maybankard 2 Cards? On the other hand, he also has OCBC TMC but he only pump RM500 a month at Petronas and therefore his yearly expenses does not reach RM10K to qualify for the RM50 cash bonus; it still makes sense for him to pay GST yearly.

Choosing the right credit card for a particular usage to earn maximum returns is the main point, not what the card offers if you don't utilize it.

For example, CIMB returns can be more than OCBC TMC or MBB 2 Cards. You get 10% and 15% at Tai Thong with the Plat and Premier card respectively. If the dinner comes out to be RM1000, that's RM100 discount for the Plat card. If you go to Amarin or Flying Chilies you get 15% discount which is better than 5% cash back for dining. If you go to Eraman and buy Louis XIII, the best card to have is the CIMB Free For Life World MasterCard or Visa Infinite and the discount you get can offset GST for the next 10 years.

thx.. dunno which to choose.. standard chartered cuz now they offer rm200 cash back which 50 of it are used to pay the gov tax..

Get SCB for the cash back if they really offering RM200 and once you use up the balance for random shopping, keep the card in the drawer tongue.gif At the same time go apply for OCBC TMC and earn 5% cash back for your dining and petrol.

As for discount at shops, like I mentioned earlier, you have to go and check the banks' website to see their promotions as they are updated frequently. And here are some of them for starters.

Bro, you better read/check the terms and conditions. Previously SCB was offering Ar Asia vouchers but if not mistaken one has to spend minimum amount else there will be a penalty. IF the SCB card really useless, I would think cancel the card at least one month before the card anniversary to avoid GST being billed. However, if you read SCB Thread, SCB will offer you goodies to retain the card.

Based on your income range and your main expenses are petrol and groceries, the best option your have is the UOB One Card Cash Back Credit Card.
The UOB One Card earns you 5% cash back for petrol capped at RM20/month ( i.e. for up to RM400 petrol) and 2% for groceries.

However, if your income is close to RM30K/year and you pump at Esso or Shell stations that accept American Express, then look into Maybankard 2 Cards where you can earn 5% cash back every Saturdays and Sundays on top of 5X Treats Points everyday.

And since you are new to credit cards, I suggest you click here to read my articles for beginners starting with the prelude.

You want a credit card or a card that rewards you more than your SCB VI? The current credit cards you have do reward you cash back or points so I don't understand what you want.

You have 2 choices:

OCBC Titanium MasterCard (click here to read my review).
This card earns you 5% cash back everyday at ALL Petrol stations, groceries, telcos, TNB and dining. For other general transactions such as shopping you will earn 1% cash back. The cash back is capped at RM50/month (i.e. once you hit the cash back RM50, you earn nothing extra). Click here to OCBC Thread to find out places that earns you 5% cash back.

Maybankard 2 Cards (click here to read my review).
You will be issued the AMEX and you have the option to choose between Visa or MasterCard (but it has been reported that nowadays MBB only issue the MasterCard). The Visa or MasterCard do not earn you cash back but 1X Treats Points for all your transactions. The main benefit of the Maybankard 2 Cards is the AMEX card where you earn unlimited 5X Treats Points everyday for any transactions PLUS 5% cash back for any transaction on Saturdays and Sundays which is also capped at RM50/month. So if you can pump petrol and do your groceries on Saturdays and Sundays then this MBB 2 Cards is great. However, please check if your Petrol station accept AMEX and FYI most Petronas don't. Click here to see places that accept the AMEX.

So are you a foreigner? If yes, not sure about OCBC but MBB can consider your application. Go to their website or contact Customer Service for more info.

However, if you are interested in HSBC Amanah, click here to read my article HSBC Amanah MPower Platinum 8% Cash Back for Petrol, Dining and Groceries. Is It Really 8%?

If your income is more than RM36K, you can have as many credit cards as you want from any many card issuers as you wish.

5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: Any banks. (I just started a part time business and still don't have recorded income statement. )
6. Others: Actually I want to apply 2nd card for my part time business. I need to have the card which can 0% EPP and must can be convert

7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: depends on the business, sometimes up to 3k
Please advice.
*
Bro, I am assuming you can provide the bank with documents proofing your income and source.

For 0% EPP, actually MBB have one of the largest merchant list offering 0% installment plans but I guess the stuff you want to get is not from them. The way I see, you want unsecured loan from credit card to expand your business. However for 1 year period, most banks imposed interest of 9% to 12% (0.75% - 1% per month) to convert retail transaction to 12 months installment plans. But here are couple banks offering lower rates compared to what you said about MBB 9% (which is really ridiculous):

AmBank Credit Card Promotion 2012 - 12 months 2.5%

Hong Leong Bank Call For Cash - 12 months 4.99%

But please note, with one time upfront %, the effective interest is much much higher.

or alternatively, you can check out my article on Balance Transfer Plans - Facts You Need To Know - in the article click on the "bank" and it will give you link to the bank's website and you can check out the latest offer. And if you are familiar with BT Plans - click here to BT Thread to see latest offer compiled by brotan.

I am surprised with your income MBB rejected your application. I guess you cannot be fussy and just apply for any credit card for the moment and build up your credit history and apply for MBB 2 Cards in 6 months time. click here to my previous article at My Credit Cards where I have listed credit cards with Free annual fees with or without conditions.

To bad because for your EPP 0% Maybank list is pretty long. And currently the Visa and MasterCard also enjoy 5X TP until end of October. Click here to my latest article Maybank 5X TP with Ezy Pay and Treats Points 2012 where I have a link to Maybank's site for participating merchants.

Therefore, for other banks EPP 0%, you got to go see the bank's website or check with you favorite shops what cards they accept for 0% EPP. Having said that, check out AmBank Flexi-Pay 0% 6 Months Installment Plans where you can convert any transaction to 0% 6 month interest free plan.

Yah Maybankard 2 Cards (if you pump at Esso or Shell) and Citibank Clear Card (fre movie tickets every Fridays and Saturdays) looks like good for you. Since you apply for it before, why don't you call the CS and ask. Or just go to 1U Maybankard Centre to apply for it and you know on the spot.

You can also try UOB One Card Classic (need to swipe 60 times to get the following year annual fee auto waived) where you earn 5% cash back for all petrol stations and also cash back for GSC.

The Maybank AMEX card has 5% cashback. In this case, wouldn't Citibank/Standard Chartered cards be better when used in dining outlets which offers 10-20% off the total bill? I hardly ever see any special discounts for Maybank card holders (not considering the 5% cashback).  hmm.gif
*
Please differentiate between discount at selected merchants and card feature. You go to a restaurant that does not offer promotional discount to SCB card, you will get less than MBB 2 AMEX. Just because you hardly see discount for MBB card holders doesn't mean there is no discount. For example did you know that Shook Starhill, the MBB 2 AMEX plat cardholders enjoy up to 50% discount? Of course, if you frequent a restaurant that offers 20% discount with SCB CC, no brainer, go get the SCB card smile.gif Anyway, the point of having MBB2 Cards is that it offers 5% plusr 5X TP for any transaction, your SCB don't give you 5% cash back on Saturday night at Tesco or for paying your Telco bills tongue.gif

4. Existing credit cards if any: List them or Nil.

For your case, try click here and rad my review of Maybankard 2 Cards. The card is Free for Life without conditions. It earns you 5X Treats Points AND on Saturdays and Sundays it earns you 5% cash back for any transaction. Only thing is where you pump petrol, if you pump at Petronas then most probably the MBB 2 AMEX not accepted.

Fast fast go apply for MBB 2 Cards, they having promo RM100 Bonus Cash Back for New Approved Maybankard 2 Cards cardholders.

If you in Klang Valley, go to 1U (Saturday Morning also can) and apply for it on the spot.

If rejected that go apply for UOB One Card (click here to read about it) which is great for petrol because you earn 5% cash back everyday. But note, for the classic card, you need to swipe 60 times for auto annual fee waiver (first year should be free and you should get some freebies).

Need to checkout whether does giant have cash back for my amex or not.
*
Yes Giant, Careefour, Courst, Tesco, JJ and anywhere that accept AMEX anywhere on earth biggrin.gif And you get 5X TP too. You should read my review Maybankard 2 Card review and benefits . In my blog I even did a comparison versus Citibank Cash Back Plat. The Maybankard 2 AMEX 5X TP is much much better than Citibank Cash Back 0.3% for general transactions. Noted you interested in the CB Shell CC. Click below link where gerrardling have shown the net cash back and you get less in returns when you spend more with it

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1798403

Also noted you spend up to RM 2K (when your income only about RM3K per month ???), so you may or may not need to have more than one credit card to maximize cash rebate.

First card to get is the OCBC Titanium MasterCard which earns you 5% for Petrol, Dining and Telco Bills. Annual income requirement RM36K/year. The reason why I mentioned you need to get more than one card is because this cash back for the OCBC TMC is capped at RM50/month. So if you do spend RM1K on expenses that earn you 5% cash back, you would have hit this said cap.

So, assuming you hit the monthly cap of RM50 cash back, next card to get is the Maybankard 2 Cards where you earn 5X TP every day PLUS 5% csah back on Saturdays and Sundays. And the MBB 2 AMEX should be accepted at your Shell station.

With the combination of the two cards mentioned above and RM2K spending, you can earn up to RM100 cash back per month ( and that's not including the Treats Points you can earn with the MBB2 AMEX) with proper planning smile.gif

So go apply for the above mentioned cards concurrently.

However, don't be disappointed if your application is rejected if you don't have any credit history. People with many credit cards for years also got their application rejected by OCBC. In the event OCBC rejects your application, get other credit card first and after 6 months to a year, when you have a good credit history, then you would have no problem getting the OCBC TMC.

And since you are new to credit card - suggest you read my articles for beginners by clicking here to the prelude.

I have sent the email to apply it. RM100 bonus, so nice.

Bro, one of the many conditions is that you must be the first 3390 person to swipe RM800.

Click here to read more about 20% Cash Back with AMEX and RM100 Bonus for New Applicants.

And with many people applying for the AMEX on the spot last week at Treats Fair, I wonder how many swiped RM800 or more during the fair.

Maybankard 2 Cards if your petrol station you pump with Accept AMEX. Most Petronas do not accept AMEX but a member from Kelantan did report the the AMEX can be used inside the counter at Petronas stations. Click here to read more on the Maybankard 2 Cards.

So if you pump at Petronas a lot, say on the way back to Penang, then consider the Maybank Petronas Visa.

Also click here to read my latest article on Mach by Hong Leong Bank where I have prepared a comparison table for various Cash Back Credit Cards which includes Petrol as an example.

If there is an OCBC back near your place, you should consider the OCBC Titanium MasterCard which is great for Petrol, Dining and Telco Bills.

1. Annual Income: Roughly RM36k
2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Preferable
3. Card required for: List all your needs. Cash Back/Rebate Only, Insurance payment, Retail, Cinema (Very important since am a frequent cinema goer, prefer if there are lots of promotions on this), once in a while installment payments for gadgets, treat points
4. Existing credit cards if any: Maybank Card 2 Card
5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: Considering Citibank Clear Card
6. Others: I am happy with Maybank's customer service, but I don't seem to enjoy a lot of promotions with Maybank credit cards for retail and cinemas
7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: Roughly RM1.5k

For Cinemas, you on the right track with Citi Clear Card except that it is not a cash back card. FYI Treats Points is only for Maybankard credit cards. The other cards that reward the customers with both cash back and reward are SCB Business and Alliance Credit Cards. The Citibank Clear Card standard feature includes Free 1 for 1 Movie Ticket every Fridays at TGV, GSC and Cathay. Citibank credit cards until end of the year are eligible for 1 For 1 Free Movies ticket at TGV and on other days you get the ticket cheaper. Actually, I use my Citibank Platinum today to get 2 Free tickets when I bought 2 tickets for Spiderman (total 4 for price of 2) at TGV smile.gif

Except for Citi Clear Cards, most cinemas 1 For 1 Free ticket promotions are for limited time only. So you go sign up for a card today but 6 months later the card may no longer offer any more promos for cinemas.

Anyway, here are current 1 for 1 Free Movie Ticket offers for cinemas

Citibank Credit Card Promotion Free 1 for 1 Ticket and discounted ticket at TGV until end of the year.

Free 1 for 1 Ticket at GSC with MasterCard Debit Cards everyday until end of September or when allocation fully taken up.

Free 1 for 1 Movie Ticket at GSC with RHB Credit or Debit Cards every Friday until end of the year.

Cash Back for movie tickets with credit cards

UOB One Card 5% cash back at GSC.

Mach by Hong Leong Bank 10% cash back for all cinemas with MCC Code 7832

Discount at GSC - HLB GSC Credit Card

As for insurance, if your new credit card can offer you more than 0.5% in returns (based on your MBB 2 non AMEX card 1XTP converted to cash voucher), then use it over your non MBB 2 non Amex card.

For promotions, you got to go to each bank website and check out yourself what can benefit you.

Click here to read my article on Entry Level Credit Cards where I mentioned about PB cash back of 0.3%

Since you income close to RM30K, try apply Maybankard 2 Cards, click link above for more info.

If Maybank rejects you, don't be disappointed as nowadays they kind of strict, wait till you earn RM30K apply again. If this is the case, for the meantime go apply the
UOB One Card which offer 5% cash back for petrol.

Bro, go ask the banks which issue credit cards you are interested in on what documents they need. Some cards can apply online too.

For Petrol - I don't think you will earn anything with PBB cards but the Aliance credit card you do earn cash back but no reward points.

Maybankard 2 Cards if your petrol stations you pump with Accept AMEX. As for touch and go, they only accept Visa or MasterCard, therefore you will earn 1X Treats Point only for every RM1, which is not too bad where you get approximately 0.5% when you redeem for cash vouchers. For cinemas, click here to see list that accept AMEX.

And if the places you entertain your clients accept AMEX, you will see you Treats Points accumulating very fast with 5X TP.

Click here to read more on the Maybankard 2 Cards.

If you really into movies, check out few posts above where I listed out cards that are offering Free 1 for 1 Movie tickets.

However, since you travel a lot, most probably you can't wait till weekends to pump petrol to maximize returns with the Maybankard 2 AMEX. If that is the case, the only other card that you earns you (based on your annual income eligibility) 5% cash back for petrol is UOB One Card, that is if your petrol is less than RM400/month, and if you pump at BHP you get extra SMART$ cash (also use the petrol station reward card) ; at GSC you get cash back too.
