hi Gen-x.
thanks for the reply.

Must i have an account in Maybank before applying for CC? I read your blog about CC and u said that u didn't have any banking accounts with Maybank.

Even without annual fee we are still being charged for RM50 right?
*
you are welcome. As alexwsk mentioned you don't need a MBB account and you also mentioned I said so in my blog. For your information, you can apply CC with any bank as long as you meet their annual income, age and credit check requirement.

AS for GST, Maybank not absorbing for new application unless you got a special invitation from them, go read Maybankard 2 cards thread. But HSBC and Citibank are for 1st year. SCB better still, they giving you cash more than the GST to new applicants.

It doesn't matter if you are paid by cash or by cheque or direct bank in. What is important is that you must be able to prove you income > RM2K/month i.e. pay slips or EA form. If you got housing loan or car loan, try that bank. If not try talk to HLB see if you can pledge FD but their cards don't give you anything for petrol.

For petrol, just read previous post #222 and prior to that.

and the RM50 is GST, so it will be charge
*
so during applying i need to have to open an account with Maybank?
My primary bank is CIMB and it would be a little troublesome to transfer money from CIMB to maybank for payment.

Your case is same as many other where income less than RM30K and want PETROL + CASH REBATE only but then add Air Miles. Just read previous post for my recommendation.

To ALL:
You got to decide, you want Air Miles OR you want Cash Rebate. For Air Miles you have to go with cards that give you reward points, i.e. No CAsh Rebate. And the other thing, people who spend alot benefit from Air Miles, For spending about RM1K a month, you can forget about Air Miles.

Just to add ... for analysis and informative purposes.
Should anyone is thinking to redeem AirMiles (e.g Enrich), the lowest/cheapest return ticket to Singapore is 15,000.
Conversion to AirMiles depends on the respective bank (e.g MBB 7000 TP -> 1000 Enrich)

(Assuming that I use MBB as my card) Means you need to spend RM105K (105/7=15) before you are able to get that flight ticket to Singapore.
If anyone is thinking to spend RM1K per month, you need to spend consistently RM1K per month for the nearly 9 years before earning that ticket.

Please note that Airline Miles redemption, you are still viable for the Airport Tax and Surcharges. Points multipliers (e.g. MBB2 AMEX) may speed up your points collection.

Good luck!
