@jtcs87

CC is not be used as backup for cash flow. As a fresh grad ... you obviously have the wrong mentality (in a way foolish understanding of debt) to own and use a credit card. If this is your intention (you used the word "cash flow") then no credit card is suitable for you as high risk you'll accumulate debt the wrong way.

If i had prepared my full amount. But i don't want for paying in one shot. Is that good to get a CC to the instalment plan?
*
Then pay full amount. This is personal finance that we are talking about here. Installment plan is a debt trap.
Many people come in this section wish to be personally debt free and regret building debt the wrong way. Here you are keen to build debt the wrong way.

One other question I have is regarding my father's choice in a card; he is a seasoned traveler who goes overseas every month or so and spends quite some time there for work purposes. He swears by a HSBC card stating that it's easy for him to withdraw money or settle payments due to the sheer availability of these banks worldwide. What is your take on this and would you suggest he goes for something else, like Citibank instead?
*
Just to add what Gen-X already said. It does not make any difference if you switch banks as you will still need to factor in the overseas withdrawal fees. Unless of course if you are lucky enough that anywhere you go in the world, there's always a HSBC or a Citibank ATM. Some banks consider you withdrawing from their own network and no fees for overseas withdrawals.

I think you haven't been travelling before

1. Not all countries have these banks.
2. Even if the destination country have the ATM/Bank, how sure are you to be able to locate the ATM with zero problems. Example : Look for the Citibank ATM in central Tokyo, or a HSBC ATM in downtown Seoul.

And yes .... like Gen-X said, sounds like your dad doesn't mind paying all the fees + interest. If you don't mind that too then go ahead by all means but be prepared to be shocked!

please give me some recommendations... my requirement is very hard to satisfy.

1. annual income RM30K to RM36K
2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must
3. cash back only
4. Existing credit cards if any: pbbank esso mobile visa
5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: UOB not bad, but their annual fee and GST is a setback
6. Very high cash back for petrol
7. Spending per month : RM1K to RM2K
*
There are possible more premium / returns in Premier cards (income of RM150K p.a onwards) but at your income level ... please manage your expectations well or there'll be no cards to satisfy you.

GST also you cannot afford But you can afford to spend RM1k per month / RM12K per year ? (Works out to be 0.4% of annual income) Sigh .. shakehead.gif You do have quite a shameless statement.

Anyone can say anything in this thread. While you could give more weightage to contributions/advise from the seniors, it is advisable that anyone here to take personal initiative to understand the product and what you are getting/signing yourself into.

You are responsible for your own decision, action and consequences. Please don't treat this forum as a place to get spoon fed like a baby.

OCBC card for Master only ? Visa have better acceptance from most of the shop, correct me if i wrong ...

OCBC better or Maybank ?
*
What are you trying to say with "who been swap it for more than 10k"?

I need to correct you - VISA and Mastercard acceptance is the same in Malaysia. All card terminals issued in Malaysia generally accept both Mastercard and VISA. Unless you are a jet setter who travels to exotic countries some where in the world where they do not accept Mastercard and/or VISA. And I'm not talking about China - I do know in China sometimes they don't want to accept Mastercard and VISA in favor of their own local card - UnionPay.

CC interest rates are pretty much standard across all banks - It is roughly 15%p.a. ~ 18%p.a/1.5% per month
You asked to be referred to a "Reasonable interest rate" card and you'll raise red flags.

If you pay your bill on time every month promptly, would there be a need to bother about the interest rate ? The senior folks here (including myself) are likely to direct with their answers ~ we don't sell credit cards nor we have any interest to thus we'll be frank about card products. And while we share stuff/info about credit cards, we don't spoon fed nor we advocate debt building using credit card.

Any TnC when I cancel credit cards? Like how many months I need to use their service so that I won't be charged for penalty.
*
Nope, none whatsoever. You can even cancel the card the very next minute after receiving the card. Some banks will blah blah blah but there's no such restriction to say that you cannot. However, bear in mind the GST is chargeable the moment the card is approved.

Many here thinks they want to play the "Free Gift" or "Help me" scenario thinking they can cancel the card, No GST without the card being activated. GST is chargeable the moment the card is approved.

Which stand chartered girl? If she is not interested, then just apply online and let the processing department decide.
*
Agreed. It is not the girl's decision/authority to prescreen you. It's their risk management / credit processing to decide.
Application qualifier are clearly outlined in any bank's cc form/website/etc in B&W - I don't think any bank list first time applicant to be a qualifier.

To all readers ...

In this section of the forum, we help our readers to advise them on what card is best for them. There's a template to facilitate that and we have kept to that format largely to the fact that discussion on products can be done in the General cc thread.

I hope to seek everyone's cooperation to maintain this as I have noticed that this forum has now begin to deviate away from serving that specific purpose. Recommendations are based on (sometimes) preferences that may not suit individuals. Readers need to understand what they want and not use this thread to "think" for them.

On that note, I'd inform that any post that is deemed unsuitable for this section would be deleted without any warning nor notice as this would serve as the notice for all.

Thank you, Mod.

It seems like OCBC Titanium is quite a popular for most people. Perhaps can consider getting it...waiting to see if they have bigger cashbacks offer.

OCBC Titanium cash back rates has remain the same for several years and in fact it has remains so since the card was relaunched.
You may continue to wait for a very long time. All the best to you !

Dear all readers

I'd like to remind everyone that there's a proper format to follow in this thread. Unlike other sections, this is not the right place for a discussion but instead members are free to post their info/requirements/expectations (according to the template given) and someone will suggest a product based on that info.

I'll allow minimal follow-up after the initial reply but detailed discussions belong in other threads. (And there are other threads for those purpose) I will have no tolerance (no prejudice to whomever in whatsoever form) for posts which doesn't belong here.

I wish to remind all visitors to this section that this section caters to card recommendation and the format is in the first post. Discussions on products are not meant to be here.

There are other areas to post questions and unrelated posts will be removed without prejudice irrespective whoever they are.
