For purely online transactions for gadgets purposes, I myself prefer to use Debit Card because you can then control the damage (due to fraud or accidentally charging it).

Try Public Bank Debit Cards (and treat them like prepaid Card), they have branches everywhere to deposit cash. You can open a PBB savings account (not necessary) and link the Debit Card and thus you can pay bills online too. All my children have HLB and PBB Debit cards and got no issue to purchase stuff online.

If you want a credit card, get Maybankard 2 Cards and you won't have problems using the Visa or MasterCard for your online transactions. The cards are Free For Life.

As for opening online account for CC, not necessary as your will receive monthly statement and will have adequate time to make payment. But if you are familiar with online banking, yah sure, it's FREE to sign up for online account and it is more convenient to make payment.

I myself use RHB Debit Card linked to my savings account for my online transaction and the security is not bad as they will sent a One Time Password to my phone.

Once again, since you are new to credit card, I suggest you click here to read my articles on Introduction to Credit Cards. And from there, you can go read my article on Maybankard 2 Cards.

Thanks for the advice. Just wanna ask, do you or your children familiar buying through Xbox Live or Windows phone? So for being specific but that's the reason why I'm considering to get DC/CC. Already got a maybank debit card and it has issues with this.

I've been asking around and somebody using a citibank CC has no issue for this. Recommended?

My children use their cards for ipod/ipad apps, iTunes, ebook, shopping (the girls) and etc.

Any Visa or MC credit cards should be able to do online transactions unless the card specifically mentioned no online transactions (e.g. Alliance Debit Card) or in some cases the merchant needs a name on the card (e.g. HLB Junior Debit Card and my RHB Debit Card has no name). And I believe your MBB Debit Card also has no name printed on it and maybe that's the reason why you got issue. For example, my children HLB junior Debit Card cannot sign up for itunes account but they can do it with PBB Debit Card.

Try PBB Electron Debit Card (as I said, you can treat it like a Prepaid Card, but there is an annual fee), the card comes with your name on it and you also get a monthly statement.

Thanks! Will ask around first over the other section of the forum if they've got any issues with PBB to buy for windows/xbox. If no, will definitely check it out

1. Annual Income: -

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Must

3. Card required for: 1) Hotel 2) Food

4. Existing credit cards if any: M2K

5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: Doesn't matter, payment through IBG

6. Others: OCBC Rejected my application because company changed name, offer letter stated the new name with reference to old company name. But since my payslip still showed the old company name. OCBC outright rejected the application. Qualified income wise.
I only use this for work-travel related expenses. Hotel bills, taxi (overseas if ever), food.

7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: Below 3k, depends on how much i travel (domestic) for work.

If you pay income tax, write an appeal to OCBC and enclose your BE form (tax receipt too) and or EPF Statement to proof your income.

And since you need a card for work related expenses and you got MBB 2 Card, I guess you need another card from a different issuer more as a stand by card. Therefore the only criteria I see is you need a FREE FOR LIFE card that saves you the hassle to call in for annual fee waiver.

Options:

Alliance Bank (free with 12 swipes) - cash back (for petrol too) plus points.
HSBC (free with 12 swipes) - points only nothing for petrol unless there is a promotion. Or if you want cash back. consider their Amanah card.
PBB - also free with 12 swipes but you earn miserable cash back starting at 0.3%
CIMB cards most are free.

If you don't mind the hassle to call in to get the annual fee waived, any card also can do tongue.gif Go check out the banks websites and see which card having promotion offering cash or gifts e.g. Citibank and SCB.

For Cinema get Citibank Clear Card where you get free movie tickets on Fridays at TGV, GSC and Cathay and on Saturdays too at TGV and RM10 other days at TGV until end of year. For Petrol get OCBC Titanium MasterCard.

Click here for Citibank Credit Card Promotion and click here for my review on OCBC Titanium MasterCard.

2012 is the first year I paying for income tax.

And Dec 2011 was my first income in Malaysia.

I sent my BE form for 2011 income tax filing to the agent, but after that also no news.

Yes, I need a card for work related expenses, at the moment I pay using the MBB cards, but sometimes the hotel/food bills almost hit my CL.

I don't usually spend for myself, but at times I need to calculate if I have enough to pay for my next trip.
CL given is 1.7x my monthly salary. lol...
or 10% of my annual after bonus.

Seems like UOB One card is just perfect for petrol and cinemas?

5% rebate for both and additional % for BHP?

Why submit to tax agent? You mean LHDN? You did not make a copy for your records? If no, then use EPF statement lah. Try appeal if you really want the OCBC TMC.

read my reply above where I posted after only seeing your post. Since you earn more than RM50K, don't waste your time getting UOB One Card when you can qualify for better cards.

I mean I submitted to the CC agent, she was handling for me from my first application.
I gave her all my income tax records.
She appealed my rejection but end up also no use, I think she appealed twice even.

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Not necessary

3. Card required for: Cinemas, hotels / flights, some shopping online (steam etc.)

Majority spending to be on cinema and online shopping.

Hotel & flights to be used once in a month or 2 months (~RM500 once including flights + accommodation)

4. Existing credit cards if any: N/A

5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: Local Banks

6. Others: Please be specific. Worked for a year since grad. Worked for 7 months in current company. Company is a well-known scientific company.

Noted you want local bank, but you should look into Citibank Clear Card if you want for cinemas. And the card you should apply for is Maybankard 2 Cards. Go to Maybankard 2 Cards Thread and Places That Accept Amex thread for more info.

What you mean by supplementary card?? For Petrol and Groceries OCBC Titanium MasterCard.

Boy, you really want to me guess don't you.
For Education where? Overseas or Local. If for overseas, MBB Visa Infinite.
If local.. for what purpose? Installment or Rebate? If installment go check with the school. If cash rebate, look into OCBC GE card.

1. Free For Life smile.gif
2. Two Cards for single GST i.e. AMEX with Visa or AMEX with MasterCard
3. 5X Treat Point Everyday with the AMEX Card for all type of transactions. (Most Visa and MasterCard earns you nothing for petrol in terms of points). However not all Petrol Station accept AMEX. But if they don't, still got the Visa and MasterCard which earns you 1X Treats Points including Petrol.
4. On top of the 5X Treats Points with the AMEX, you can earn 5% cash back every Saturday and Sunday up to RM50/month for any type of transactions. That's RM600 on top of the reward points a year smile.gif

So with your spending of less than RM1K. the AMEX can earn you 5% cash back every Saturdays and Sundays on top of the 5X TP (which is unlimited). If you use pay pal for your online shopping, go check out other members' posts at MBB 2 Thread.

Like I said, go check out Places that accept AMEX thread and see if you can benefit from Maybankard 2 Card.
Aiyah, earlier I lazy to go copy link for you and looks like you did not read previous posts, so for your easy reference click here to read my review of the Maybankard 2 Cards.

Also check out my other many articles on how I benefit from Maybankard 2 Cards, for example, here is one of the New Toshiba i5 for RM999

I don't see the need for you to get any other cards unless you want free airport lounge or another back up card (which in this case should have kept your CIMB DA) .

For Hotel, you MBB 2 Visa gives you 6% discount at Agoda.
For Flights, your MBB 2 AMEX earns you minimum 5X TP which is better than Citi Air Asia Card. Even your OCBC TMC with 1% CB is considered very good.
For Online shopping, this one you know more than me on how to maximize the 5% cash back with AMEX tongue.gif

The thing is CIMB DA is truly Free For Life and great as standby card, don't have to worry about swiping x number of times or go thru the hassle to call CS to get annual fee waived. Don't spend a single sen also no issue.

Noted you want Cash Back card, besides the cards you have, the other Cash Back cards don't really benefit you since you don't need it for petrol and the only other card that I can think of which is better than OCBC TMC is Alliance Plat (for non petrol, groceries, utilities and telcos). The Alliance Plat earns you minimum 1% equivalent cash back after taking into consideration of the points but Alliance got not much promotion except that the Plat grants you unlimited entry to KLIA PPL. But like most cards, the annual fee is waived with 12 swipes.

So, the only thing I can think of is look for a card that gives you like 10% discount at merchants you do patronize. You will need to spend time checking out the banks websites yourself tongue.gif For starters, click here to check out Citibank Credit Card Promotions.

And check this out, FREE Starbucks Drink and GSC Movie Ticket every Friday with RHB Credit or Debit Cards.
