There are possible more premium / returns in Premier cards (income of RM150K p.a onwards) but at your income level ... please manage your expectations well or there'll be no cards to satisfy you.

GST also you cannot afford But you can afford to spend RM1k per month / RM12K per year ? (Works out to be 0.4% of annual income) Sigh .. shakehead.gif You do have quite a shameless statement.

Question 2 and it's allowed answers does not lend itself to useful responses.

If you asked someone whether they want it free or not, in isolation as a single question - of course they want it free.

Try asking if GST still matters if even with GST, you still get better nett benefits, you might get more relevant responses. It's the nett benefit which is the relevant point after all, right?

Hello everyone and Gen-X,

I am thinking of reducing my cards to 2 or 3
At this moment - I use MBF card for everything .. other CCs as back-up

1. Annual Income: RM60K-RM100K

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: YES (otherwise have good CS where I can call to get waiver every year biggrin.gif )

3. Card required for:
Drinking+Night-time Entertainment = at least RM 1k/month
Petrol = around RM 200-300/month
Insurance = about RM 500/month
Phone = less than RM 90/month
Retail transactions : not more than RM 1k/month

I do not use : AirMiles, Overseas Transactions, Free LCCT Lounge Access or Golf

4. Existing credit cards if any:
MBF (gives bonuslink points), UOB One, HLB Plat, AmBank Gold, HSBC Gold, Citibank Gold and PBB Plat (Mutual Gold one)

5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: any bank CC is OK. i will call CS to get that card too if really good. just got a call from SCB for their Business Platinum (0.3% cash back on all transaction except petrol, no cap)

6. Others:
a. Looking for card with 'best' cash-back and with points ! (otherwise best cash back only is OK too)
b. financial discipline = 5/10 (sometimes forget to pay before due date lah haha) - so cannot be too complicated, now already quite blur haha
c. now based in penang (KL mari punya)

7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: easily 2k-3k per month
(total spent in 2010 : 39k / total for 2011 : 39k)

Maybank Petronas Credit Card which has no monthly cap for petrol at Petronas BUT their minimum income starts at RM30K. You can try to apply.

For CIMB they do have Petronas card the cash back is like 2% and 5% on the first of every month.

For your case, get UOB One Cardwhere the annual income requirement is RM24K where you can earn 5% at Petronas but there is a monthly cap. Go check out what is the latest cap.

Click here to read my more than a year old article on FREE credit Cards i.e. no annual fee OR Click here to read my article on Entry Level Credit Cards.. My recommendation is get a card from the bank where you have existing account. Having said that, I recommend you try apply Maybankard 2 Cards (goto to MBB2 Thread to read more).

Banks nowadays need proof of income and if you really earn RM96K, you would have paid income tax, so you can submit your BE Form as proof of income. However if your income is tax free, sorry.

Maybank 2 Cards would be great as a back up since it is FREE FOR LIFE and the AMEX can use to purchase air tickets too for most airlines.

Your cards all useless tongue.gif Go get Maybankard 2 Card and earn yourself RM600 in cash back and minimum 120K Treats Points in a year with RM2K spending a month. For your easy reference, click here to read my article on Maybankard 2 Cards. . Check if your drinking place accept AMEX. For insurance most probably not unless yours is AIA where certain offices accept AMEX.

Also do consider OCBC Titanium cash back where you earn minimum 1% cash back (good for your insurance) and 5% for Telco, Dining, Utilities and Petrol.

Since your income is RM30K-36K and you want cash back, click here to my Cash Back Credit Card Page for more info. Maybank Visa or MasterCard credit card overseas conversion rate is amongst the lowest. And if you lucky, you may even earn 5% cash back with the AMEX card for overseas transactions but bear in mind the AMEX conversion rate is much higher than Visa or MasterCard. If you ask me, apply for both Maybankard 2 Cards and OCBC Titanium MasterCard.

2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: A Must

3. Card required for: Overseas Online Transaction

4. Existing credit cards if any: Citibank Gold (Supp)

5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: Maybank (I heard their administration cost is only 0.5% while other banks charge more)

6. Others: I buy things from online regularly. Some of my shopping sites do not accept PayPal..so I need a credit card. I thought any credit card will be good for me until I found out that Maybank offers the lowest admin cost. I also read that Mastercard's exchange rate is better than Visa. Read from some threads here.

7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: Around RM2k

Thanks!
