Hi,

You can try OCBC Titanium. This card is no annual fee with 12x swipe (first year is free) and you can enjoy 5% everyday rebate for groceries, petrols, dinings and utilities (cap RM50 monthly). Further, they are doing the promotion now. You can enjoy Buy 1 free 1 movie ticket for whole Malaysia GSC Cinema until 30 June 2012 and 20% rebate for the Curve dining. If you want to apply can contact me o, I am OCBC direct card sales staff. Thanks

I would like to reiterate for everyone to use the template to enjoy the complimentary help here. If you do not use the template then sorry as there will be no special treatment or waiver to rules mentioned in whatsoever case.

Generally banks will not recognize the 2-3K commission to be a fixed income and that is not guarantee to recur on a fixed monthly basis.
So it is likely that only RM2.1K is recognized as the firm recurring income and this would explain the application rejection.
*
Hi,

For the commission, the bank will count in as your income but only 80% from that and you need to submit at least 3 month commission statement to prove the stability of your commission.

I dont think the commission can be treat as income unless it stated in the BE form.

As bro Titan_Gunners mentioned, commission is not calculated as fixed income. There is no such thing as 80%, 50%, 90% or whatever percentage and to say 80% of the commission or 3 month commission statement is calculated is very misleading.

1. Annual Income:RM50k
2. Free Lifetime Annual Fee: Doesn't matter.
3. Card required for: Groceries and Bills
4. Existing credit cards if any: Hong Leong Classic Visa and HSBC Amanah Visa (looking to cancel either one unless got reason not to)
5. Preferred Bank or Considering CC from banks: Any bank
6. Others: Nothing specific
7. Estimated Spending per month with the card: around 1k to 2k

Also one side question: How do you get credit limit increment? It's kind of sad that my credit limit is still the same since I first got the card. That time I just started working so credit limit quite low.

Definitely OCBC Ti, 5% cashback for grocery, utilities, dining and petrol (monthly cap RM50). Free annual fee with 12x swipes.

To get limit increment, you need to put in a request to the respective bank. Often you will be requested to submit your income documents.

May I suggest you to look at Maybankard 2 cards
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2248196

5x TreatsPoints for every Ringgit spent on Maybankard 2 American Express Card and 1x TreatsPoint on Maybankard 2 Mastercard/Visa Card in Malaysia or anywhere else in the world.

5% Weekend cash back when spend on Maybankard 2 American Express Card capped at RM50 per customer (including Supp Cardmember) per month.

Thank you for the recommendation. I'm currently reading about Maybankard 2 cards, looks interesting but I'm not sure I really need 2 cards.

Any other similar cards that I can look into ?
Thanks smile.gif

The maybankard 2 card is actually a combo, whereby you only have to pay one GST (RM50) for two cards as a principal holder, if that is your concern. Looking at the benefits, most of us here mainly use the AMEX, while its visa/master card only serves as a spare smile.gif

Added on April 1, 2012, 1:14 pmAlso, you stated that you travel quite often, thus the visa/mastercard may come handy due to its attractive lower conversion rate.

Okay thanks for the explanation. I actually just wanted to have another alternative to consider and weigh against this option. So I looked at a few other bank CCs, but haven't really found a similar offering.

So I guess your advice is quite right thumbup.gif

For your case get OCBC Titanium MasterCard (annual fee waived with 12 swipes) and Maybank 2 Cards (Free for Life no conditions) for up to RM2K spending and earn RM100 cash back per month.

Click here to my Cash Back Page at GenX GenY GenZ to see comparison and links to my review of the cards mentioned above.

Look into Alliance Platinum where you can earn up to RM68/month cash back in addition to points for up to RM5K spending AND this card grant you unlimited access to KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge. Annual fee waived with 12 swipes a year. Good for insurance up to RM5K.

Wherever AMEX is accepted, use the Maybankard 2 Amex Card and earn equivalent to 2.5% returns when doing redemption for cash vouchers.

Click here to read me article Earn Pocket Money with Credit Cards at My Credit Cards.

For FREE access to BOTH KLIA and LCCT Plaza Premium Lounge, read my article by clicking >>> Free Access to KLIA and LCCT Plaza Premium Lounge with your Credit Cards and Worldwide Airport Lounge too. If you have Priority/Premier Banking account with RHB, SCB and UOB, then you get FREE FOR LIFE cards. Else getting Citibank and call for annual fee waiver yearly tongue.gif

hi GenX, thanks for the input.

Noticed following (fr generationsxyz site):
- OCBC Titanium does not offer free airport lounge access
- Maybank 2 cards (both gold and platinum) do not offer access to airport lounge, only the infinite one does.
- Alliance Platinum seems to be the ideal card for me, but not in your top 10 cards of 2012 smile.gif --> what could be the disadvantages of this card?
- looks like Citibank is cumbersome, need to call every year for free waiver (and i read elsewhere, have to do the "card termination" stunt every time to get the waiver?? tiring lor...)

My priority is not so much on cash rebate, more on flexibility in credit limit extension.

By the way, where can i find the list of deposit requirement (RM100k, RM200k etc) for Priority banking for each banks?

Many2 thanks indeed.

Alliance not in Top 10 this year because not much other benefit besides the 2% equivalent cash back for RM5K spending and KLIA PPL. But it is a great card for those who do spend RM5K a month at places that do not accept AMEX . And if you read my article Louis Vuitton Wallet for My Credit Cards and Wife's too, you will note that I carry the Alliance card with me.

For Premier/Privilege Banking credit cards for access to LCCT and KLIA PPL

Citibank RM200K - Free Plat card. Unlimited access to KLIA and LCCT Or 12 times.
RHB RM200K - Quota 4 entries/year
SCB RM250K - Unlimited entries worldwide airport lounges. They will impose you a penalty fee if your AUM falls below this.
UOB RM500K - once a month only!!!

But Bro, since you do spend RM10K per month, RHB Normal Plat, they will waive the annual fee if you spend RM36K/year.

You will enjoy free access and your travel companion only has to pay half the price to access the Plaza Premium Lounge at KLIA, when you charge RM3000 and above on air tickets or travel packages to your OCBC Titanium MasterCard. Be pampered on-the-go with five star food and beverages, movies and many more. To access the KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge, call OCBC Contact Centre 1300 88 5000 to make reservation.

Hmm...so far looks like Alliance Plat fulfills my requirement of free access to KLIA PPL (btw, what about LCCT?)
Also, the free waiver is applicable with 12x swipes. That should be no problem for me.

The AUM for priority banking means we need to maintain the amount all the time right? eg keep RM200k in FD so as long as to keep using the particular card.

My only concern with Alliance (or for that matter, all local banks' card), might not be recognized for overseas transaction. I have this problem before with Ambank card, but once i used Citibank's, it was ok...eg PayPal

Aiyah, I stated Alliance for KLIA only right. You want both KLIA and LCCT I also mentioned the cards. Please read carefully.

As for PB, well, you are suppose to maintain the required AUM. But like I mentioned, only SCB got penalty. Anyway, click here to read my article on Privilege Premier Priority Banking for more info,

However, if you deposit say RM200K in FD just for a PB card for airport access, I want to point out to you that you might be losing out at least RM1K a year if you don't take advantage of FD Promotions offered by banks where we can get 0.5% or more in interest rate. Check out Highest Malaysia Commercial Banks Fixed Deposit Interest Rates Promotion

I got no problems using any of my credit cards overseas.
