I still can't quite get the download right if I log in at the launcher it says thta I dun own the game and such but anyway I went to the forum and see lots of ppl QQing not to spoil it for u guys but I think it's gonna fail like rift

Relax , its launch. Thats why I did not bother jumping and playing now. I just want to wait and see like WoW when it first launched. You need to understand the trend of MMO.

New MMO comes out everyone wants to try Hence long server queues and stuff.

Now to determine if this MMO would be successful or not - it depends on the end content. If Bioware can put up good end-game content for pvp/pve alike. Pretty much people would be happy.

I am playing WoW , I'll plan to get SWTOR only after they have launched a trial or some sort which I plan to explore and see. Competition is healthy

im now considering to buying this game , but is it smooth to play? im just using normal 1mbps streamyx .
*
I can't say how bad or how smooth is going to be. Bandwidth and latency has many factors in it. I don't know how much bandwidth this game is going to suck if you do flashpoint. So far people have been getting around 220-250ms (up to 320ms if you are on streamyx) for normal things. Latency will change when you do raids and other PVP as more amount of bandwidth will be used. I am not sure if 1Mbps can keep up with the demands or not. If not , your latency will just go sky rocket high.

Again it depends what you do

They should do stream as you play.

I know for a lot of you guys - this is your first MMORPG. If you want to play SWTOR , I recommend you to wait (if you are new to MMO). Currently its crowded and stuff and bioware is fixing bugs. So if you want smooth experience , try after a month.

Almost 60% of folks who want to see whats new or whats this about , would have left.

It'll be divided into 3

1. People who play for first thirty days - are folks that wanna see the lore and stuff. These people are SP/RPG gamers , they would play (cause SWTOR is SP MMO anyway) and they don't care about end-game

2. PVPers and end-gamers (these people care more about pwning bosses and running challenges instead of sitting and running around). They don't care about lore nor questline - they are just concerned about loots and how to down bosses

Offgamers is incorporated in Malaysia - which means its a registered company , so you can take action against them if you are not happy . Now that gives you some sort of secure feeling - because its a company and they have been selling games and stuff for a long time

Now as for buying CD-KEYS online , lowyat has a no no policy on selling cd-keys (thats why you don't see people selling swtor keys here , even if they were , it would have been nuked). This is because we dont know how these cd-keys were obtained (i.e g2play). FYI some CD-keys were obtained from some EU countries or via other means (smuggled , or people who simply buy retail copy , take the cd-key picture and return back). So you are warned

Now this is different from a service , suppose if I have a US credit-card , I may offer my service of purchasing it directly from EA Origin and then gifting it to you (like how steam selling works) - which means you got official proof that the game belongs to you

You are warned about it though.

Hello there ,

I agreed with you very much.  After 6 days of struggling heavily with my problem, I have already figured out the Key I obtained from Eseong ( http://es-cdkey.com/index.php?route=common/home ) is not an actual CD-KEY  ,
It is a PRE-ORDER keys which has already been blocked by Bioware themself because you will now need an actual Product code to register for the game . Bioware Customer Service told me they have already re-send a Second product code to everyone that has purchased the PRE-ORDER code .  However right now Eseong pretty much refuse to acknowledged the problem after so many days of Emails going on and off.
I should not be coming to conclusion very fast as there are holidays in between the weeks, big holidays . After tomorrow  I will give him a final call , if I am still not getting any sort of refund or working solution from him , I would be lodging thread and stuff warning people to not ever buying anything from him.  It is almost official I have been cheated for RM300 ( SWTOR CD KEY  + 60 days game card ) without a proper reason .
Until then I would suggest you guys refrain from purchasing from unauthorized seller as they usually have no idea on where they got the keys, or even where they came from . While 300 isn't very little, or very much but it is still money I would very much rather donate them to a charity than giving them a bunch of Scamming Merchants who has no morale senses on dealing and trading.

Hello

Just wondering how was your key delivered (did you get an official receipt from Origin EA (i.e such as a gift or the official receipt saying that you own the game , etc)

You may not believe it, but I purchase the game via Bank transfer on Eseong's Website.

http://es-cdkey.com
I do not have the official receipt from Origin EA obviously , and according to him he got the CDKEYs from his resellers , therefore I assume his reseller are the one that has gotten the digital purchase off
http://www.origin.com since it was the only place they can get official digital copy from .
However this is where the trouble goes , after 22nd December Bioware has blocked every Preorder Key out there and have personally resend a Second Product Code for every single game bought before 20th Dec from Origin.com to these merchant .

When they have gotten 2 keys ( one of them is not working of course ) , these merchant obviously have no Idea why they are given 2 keys with a single price, therefore selling them seperately to the customer.

I guess  that is pretty much what happen to my case.
I do have every web history, transaction details, his contact details, up to my purchase details clearly kept for screenshot for purposes .
*
Well you cant blame the middle man for that. This guy may be just a reseller , we don't know how the person who sells the key to this guy obtains his/her key from.

This is why I strong discourage folks from buying CD-Keys unless the other person is using the official store and gifting it to you (like how steam store works) . For instance I'll purchase a game and 'gift' it to you - which means legally you own the game and both of us have records in black and white.

Anyway contact with the seller and hopefully you'll be refunded or replaced with a working CD-KEY !

Nobody can help you there , the other option is to find someone with the entire game folder , copy and paste it. That should do the trick

EA customer service sucks and a lot of people are complaining that their problems are not solved as soon as possible.EA/Bioware should learn from Valve/Blizzard on customer support.

For those who want to get this game through EA Origin USA , you need to get a virtual Visa card which is issued in the states (google it up) and a VPN. You can buy it directly off EA Origin

i agreed with you on the customer service prasys..they dont bother and i have to freaking call them in the states to reset my security password and after that i get a crap game with bugs and corrupted files all over...lost my money like this is something sickening.
*
I recommend you to wait. Nobody can here help you , even a lot of people in forums are having issues and some people even said that their customer support is not responsive

I am quite sure you , me and a lot of us are not asking for 2 hour answer period - but at least take your time and fix the problem instead of getting automated bots to respond to you. Some people don't mind the wait - they just want responses. EA/Bioware should do something about it. Sure there are lots of people but a reply or work-round on how to do would be awesome

Anyway, you are left with very few options. The game is great (everyone is talking about the awesomeness of the storyline - If you're a hardcore RPG fan + Star wars fan - no doubt this game is for you) , but they should polish a few things

PS - calls to states might be expensive especially if you are calling from your handphone or something. I recommend getting Google Chat (you can make calls to state for free)

PPS - The bugs you said its common for MMORPG during launch. Thats why I did not drop the money (eventho i am a star wars fan) on buying MMORPG. I'll generally wait till a stable patch or an expansion (generally the former) before buying.

You must understand it counted as days - us asians prefer to have it as hours instead of days and we prefer a prepaid (or charge-when-we-play system) but the majority of the Americans prefer a subscription instead of a prepaid system . Its part of their culture and how things are done there

Has anyone tried warzones like huttball and whats the latency like (unifi and streamyx that is)

On normal , it will not lag as you are instanced. So which means you can enjoy ~250ms latency all the time.

To determine the real thing , you need to raid or do hardcore 'pvp' and then take note of the latency

They are planning to do Oceanic , nothing to do with SEA. Probably , they would group all as one and place the server in Australia or somewhere. As for pings , it can be good or bad. We don't know till its place and how our Internet connection routes to the server

You need to buy the game by the way , the f2p model is well you purchase the game , you get 1 month subscription , then it would be free. This is what I've been told .Oh f2p has many limitation , its 1 character per account (i was told) , limited pvp/pve. Its just nice for single player RPG fans , who want to see Star Wars Universe.

IMO I guess they fell short , this game would have been a hit back in 2004 or something , because mainly when people talk about MMORPG - they compare it with WoW. If EA/Bioware did like what Blizzard did - put up LFR , put up a dungeon finder , put this and that up (sure you may say it ruins the game) , it would certainly bring back a lot of people. Rememeber , MMORPG has heaps of casuals compared to hard-core. Take a look at my guild , we have only done 1/8H despite 30% nerf , some people don't have the time to sit and read all the rotation and how-to

Remember f2p has some crappy limitation , don't get carried away with 1-50 , it has 1 character limitation and few others. Read up in MMO-Champion forums

Now they can have heaps of asian players in the realm which can be a good or bad thing , lets wait and see

but if i only play the game once in a while then those limitations do not affect me really much ooo.

btw so many servers which one best ping lul.

I thought there were like Asian servers

If you are going to play for SP experience , aka for questing and listening to it , then I would recommend the game. Its not meant for "end-game content"

My entire purpose of downloading this game will be to make 8 player accounts, and try to play through each of the class storylines. I heard the Imperial Agent storyline is pretty good so that's what I'll do. I don't have any hopes of playing after I ding 50.
*
I think Bioware would have been better off if they made KOTOR III or something like that , that would have been more fun

i have never played any MMORPG. But i am intrigued to play this game.

Is is possible to play SWTOR solely as single player game? I dont want to play multiplayers, just solo and with NPC?

Is possible to beat the game playing alone? Or I need to co-op with other human players?
*
I recommended you this over WoW is that SWTOR has a richer storyline compared to wow (unless you like warcraft lore). Bioware knows how to write stories , and clearly they made good. Since you are planning to pay this on your own sweet time , its great. There is no monthly subscriptions (wait for it) , just buy the game and enjoy. I dont think you want to do end-game content like pvp , dungeons and raid. You are more probably interested in the story and lore

SWTOR is not like wow or gw2. If you are looking for casual game , go on GW2 , you can login play an hour or two and heck gain exp , even just exploring or sitting in city and crafting. Even wow leveling is easier and for wow the content is end game , gw2 the content is storyline.

As for SWTOR , the main content lies within leveling , there is no end-content really in SWTOR apart from doing flashpoints and operations (raids and dungeons) and some PVP. The fun , the whole SP experience lies in leveling
