pet shops almost always put syrian hamsters in groups on display, and only idiots who don't research their proper care will follow the shop's advice.

one more thing, where did you get all these hamsters? if you plan on breeding them, get the males and females from different sources. Inbreeding among siblings too many times is a recipe for disaster.
