i got 3 cages of hamsters now (after merged from another group of the 4th cage)...

- 1st cage got 5 hamster, 1 male and 4 females (including the new 2 babies which has grown up now, 7 weeks old)
- 2nd cage got only 2 hamster (1 male & 1 female, and the female is pregnant)
- 3rd cage got 1 female hamster and 6 newly born babies (juz beranak today), the mother was taken from 1st cage, isolated few days ago when we discovered that she's pregnant

but last week, my lil sis' kucing kacau the pregnant female hamster from 2nd cage and she died and all 4 new born also died... so tinggal the papa hamster from 2nd cage alone...

so juz now i wanna merge him to the 1st cage, tambah kawan there... i didnt know that the male from 1st cage is so dominant and dun wanna share the cage wif other male...

i juz mixed 'em for 5 minutes and i heard noise from the 1st cage, i see the dominant male and the other females all attack the pity new fren and he's badly injured, when the time i see 'em, he's hiding inside the toilet, menyorok so others cant attack him and make muka kesian, so sad... so i hav to isolate him back to 2nd cage alone, wait until his health fully restored and gonna add 2 female hamster in 2nd cage...

i alrdy put minyak gamat to the injured male to boost healing process, giv extra fruit (more than usual ration), and full time vitamin drink (normally only once in 3 days)...

erm..syrian hamsters are territorial.. netter to seperate them..oni put together to mate, but it is even possible for them to fight after they have mated..

erm..if you gonna put in aquarium..pls make sure it is in a cool place..as aquarium is not as airy as cages..hamsters does not do well with high temperatures..

noted, i've planned about it too... using comp casing fans as blower & exhaust...

Omara, I used to breed 20+ hamsters and u never let a newbie in the cage just like tat. BAD decision!!

If you are bringing in a cage that's already occupied by other hamsters, first u need to let all the hamsters out, clean the cage thoroughly, then let the male newbie in the cage first for like 10 mins at least. The reason is to let the smell of the new hamster linger in the cage so the other hamster will feel that it is less of their territory.

When u let a new hamster into a cage that's been a habitat of other hamsters for awhile u will make him feel out of place cos he knows he's stepping into other hamsters territory. So rmb always clean a cage get rid of the smell then put the new hamster in, let him wander around first.

last time when i had a hamster, one of them is playing on the wheel thingy, and another one was playing behind the wheel. somehow, the one at the back got stuck there, and tersepit and mati between the dinding and the wheel.

Running wheel 8inch diameter else they ll hurt their back, food bagi vitakraft or other expensive brand, they contain less kuachi and corn which is very fattening and bad for health

Those are syrian hamsters, and they should NEVER EVER EVER be housed together with any other hamster. They're solitary and will attack anything that intrudes its space, unless you are its friend.

When i was in secondary school i got 2 hamsters...sadly both are male. i put them together in one cage and after a while i realized that i was cruel to them for not getting any female hamster as their partner.

At last both of them become bujang terlajak..kesian. So i donated both them to my neighbor after 1 year.

Hamster syrian solitary. Even in wild, diorang takkan jumpa kecuali time untuk mate. Then diorang goes separate ways.

Kalau nak bela banyak-banyak, saya mencadangkan jenis dwarf atau roborovski. Jenis ini lebih jinak, dan suka hidup berkumpulan.

Jenis dwarf pulak saya cadangkan jenis Winter White. Sebab jenis ni boleh tukar-tukar warna bila musim berubah. Lebih menarik.

Roborovski sesuai kalau tanak main dengan hamster tu, sebab mereka hamster paling kecil dan sangat laju. Kalau terlepas memang tak boleh dapat balik. Tapi saya suka jenis ini sebab sangat aktif. Jenis lain suka tidur.
