Since there's no thread for V10 which is sold by Yangxi, this thread is being created to hear and discuss about V10 player. I had been a user of hdpro before swapping it with V10, hence here i will list the comparison between both of them


** I only used the player to play movies, so i will do the comparison base on my finding:

speed: V10 got a much faster respond time
interface: V10 only got 1 on/off button on the front panel, whereas HDpro can be play without a remote
remote distance: both V10 and HDpro got a very poor reception, I need to get near to them to control it compare to my TV.
playlist: no more movies playlist for V10.
remote control: V10 remote looks more professional compare to HDpro which is so jumble up.
USB slot: no more card slot(SD) on V10
time&date: HDpro got an option to enter time and date but no on V10
color adjustment: HDpro color setting can be done on setup, but not for V10 which can only be done during movies playback
HDD mounting: no more assemble and screwing of HDD to V10
bug: HDpro giving me a lot of issue, but not on V10 up to day, finger crossed!
LAN: V10 is on GigaLAN and HDpro on 100base

referring to hdpro or v10?

V10 is stock firmware

HDpro i've updated to a few version

the stock firmware on V10 is 8/6, should be the fixed 1..

so far i dont hear any static noise



HDPro also i heard the static once.. i needa restart it then it become normal..

typo error for GigaLAN

remote distant max i think is 2M, I am controlling more than 2M, no problem with my TV, IpTV, astro and other devices.. V10 i needa go nearer only can control..
** i didn't take out the plastic cover for all of my remote control to prevent dust.


regarding hdpro bug, file copy is 1 of the issue, file become 0kb suddenly is another issue, file copied turned out to be another file is another issue, it might be my HDD not compatible with HDpro, not sure about that, currently using the same HDD for V10, hope won't get this kinda output.

if it's a data storage i'll get screw up as i dump all my data over and everything gone.. LOL

i can't renamed V10 to the name i want as it will always named as "venus", i can rename HDpro to the name i like.

V10 got option just for samba alone not like HDpro combine both

so i just on samba without BT

tested to ON/OFF samba still same

what's the changelog of this update? i found tat the BT inside V10 cannot download at all...

i found out that the 5mins problem is not resolve on V10.. it's still same like wat happen to HDpro, some of the copied file will not copy completely all the detail, and will end on the last 5mins..

This only happen if i off the connection between HDpro/V10 and my PC..

if the connection remain on, so far i never face this problem..

hmm... so weird..

file become 0kb out of sudden never happen after i changed to V10, which it's s common problem in my case for HDpro...

i've copied the image file to the ROOT of my USB drive and V10 telling me that no latest update available.

and 1 more thing, 1 of my USB port spoil, i didn't realise it till i put in my thumbdrive just now and V10 cant detect anything from the port, another port is working, so now i only got 1 working USB port instead of 2

able to customize screen saver timer and background image

more feature on sound setup.

no more BT setup which left only samba and samba security


Thing I dislike after the upgrade:

V10 now dont have any specific name, as for the old firmware it's named "venus" which cannot be renamed, after the upgrade I can only access to V10 using IP address.

fast forward/backward using left and right arrow key is not that user friendly...

old firmware, only a click of left/right arrow the screen will move forward/background directly, after the update. clicking left/right arrow won't do any good till i click on "OK" button, which is a bit troublesome or in another word "lebih"!!


hope to hear others users review after upgrade..

Screen Saver now can set Timing and picture to be shown


Audio Setup, added feature: Keytone, Surround Sound (Active), and Lip Sync


Network Setup page, BT option removed!


Other added System Setup option: Auto Standby <-- the most crap thing.. at first I thought i will standby if no active activity, and i set it to 30mins, i watch movies and in 30mins time pop-up a prompt asking for standby!!!

Autoplay by booting <-- haven't test it out


Try to search the movies using left/right arrow, look at left and middle time, left time is currently the video is played, and the middle 1 is the time when i pressed left/right arrow.. the video won't automatically moved and need user to pressed on "OK" button which is another "LEBIH" case for me.

Now i can use goto to search the time using the number in remote ctrl, old firmware i can only use the arrow to search for the time. Good fix!



Pressing the number on the remote will display it on the screen which i dunno what's the use of it.

after the upgrade i feel that the response time are having a bit of delay compare to the stock.

and 1 more thing, play DVD Folder will skip some of the chapter/time, I need to play the chapter files inside the Folder to watch the whole movies, but by doing so I cant enable the subtitle.

copy VIDEO_TS folder to V10 HDD... click Play can play the whole movies..

can either select play, or go inside to folder..

how to check the available disc space?

lol... i don't wanna ON my PC everytime just to view to the available disk space. i do know that mapping a drive will show us the available shared disk space, but it will produce some problem. Do you know that once you've created a map drive, your PC will slow down during boot up as it will looks for the mapped drive first before booting up. If the mapped drive is unavailable the boot up time will increase even more!! that's why i never map a drive, all i did is just create a shortcut,

all files is transfer VIA network....
i purposely pull a long cat5 cable for it.

just push the latest beta.. but i dont find any thing special from it... it look the same

1. i've downloaded a 1080i mkv, watching it from PC no problem, but V10 seems don't encode it properly, as it will drag the color boxes around the tv screen..

2. some mkv file cannot fast forward!!

how to check codec?

for the fast forward problem, i can do it using hdpro last time, but v10 can't. (same file) dunno why..
