V10's stock firmware has audio issue with AVR when playing from non-DTS or non-Dolby movie file. Playing movie file like RMVB or from Internet streaming will output static noise only.

June 2011's firmware found on Yangxi's thread shall fix this issue.

the stock firmware on V10 is 8/6, should be the fixed 1..

so far i dont hear any static noise

smile.gif

HDPro also i heard the static once.. i needa restart it then it become normal..
*
8/6 is the latest firmware for V10. The one I bought came with May 2011 firmware. Therefore, I encountered the no audio/static noise issues when connected to AVR.

The static noise doesn't affect mine though. Mine is plugged to AVR. But what i hate is that when i change movies there is this deep bass click sound when switching to a new episode or next movie in queue. Not even sure if its avr issue or v10 issue.
*
I did not encounter such click noise. I think is not V10 issue. BTW, I'm using cheap coaxial cable.

Added on August 26, 2011, 8:59 amI'm sharing my experience after using the latest firmware.

There are some new options in Setup menu, under System, Video and Audio categories.

Subtitle settings now available in Setup menu. However, it seems not working with whatever changes I made. Using Subtitle button on remote ctrl while playing video file no longer able to change anything except subtitle language selection.

Wireless connection using USB dongle is no longer working with new firmware. Even after factory default reset, power off/on for both V10 and modem router, it just would not connect to Internet. It was working perfectly with older firmware.

I hope next week firmware release will fix these issues.

Thanks a lot. I will try out this firmware.

Added on August 27, 2011, 9:36 amYangxi,

I have tried out your beta firmware. Indeed, it is a much better firmware. Subtitle function is working properly now. I was also able to connect to Internet using wireless USB dongle without any problem.

It seems there are improvement with streaming video from China links under Apps menu. Video streaming is more smooth and faster than before due to better buffering method implemented.

Thanks.

I recommend to all V10 users to use this beta firmware instead.

I did turn on before. But I could not see V10 in notebook and therefore turn off back. I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate in my notebook. Anymore settings I should be aware of?

Thanks.

Thanks to Yangxi and ckboon. Will try out tonight again by switch on Samba and use IP to detect V10.

I have tried to switch on Samba and use IP to locate my V10 (connected via wifi dongle) from notebook.

I can see the web page of V10. The only thing I could do is view hardisk free storage. I could not go into hard disk content to view or do any file explorer operation. Going into 'View Neighbourhood" only can see letter of USB and internal HDD but cannot click to go further.

Is there any setup I need to do before I could see and transfer content of the HDD installed in V10? Or perhaps this is due to firmware not finalize yet? I'm using latest firmware from this thread.

Many thanks.

Yes, I'm using IP address on IE9 to access V10 web interface. However, I can only view USB HDD & internal HDD available free storage. I cannot view content of both HDD. On the other hand, I could view share folder of notebook using V10. hmm.gif rclxub.gif

Thanks.

To all YangXi  owners out there.

Q1 - If movie stopped and power switch off, when I want to continue later, will the movie resume from where it was stopped?

Q2 - If using the fast forward function, what is the fastest speed?

Q3 - Any one have audio/video sync problem?

I am using WD media player now and I have issues with the above.

Thanks U in advance
*
Hello. I'm using V10.

A1 - Yes. When you play the same file, the player will ask you whether to resume from last watched position or start from beginning.

A2 - Not sure what is the fastest speed. Very seldom use this function. But I rather use GoTo function which can specifically choose time you wanted to jump.

A3 - Have been using for several months. I have played various formats from mkv to rmvb. Never encountered this issue.

Thanks for the comments

On Q1, can the movie still resume if the unit is switched off and on again?

My WDTV will not resume when switched off & on or when the HDD is removed and plugged back.

For some files, when I fast-forward, the audio/video does not sync. Really frustrating coz have to start from beginning of the movie.
*
Refer to your Q1, I'm using both USB HDD and internal HDD. The playback resume function is working even after I switched off and on again. I only switched on V10 when using it. However, if I unplug the USB HDD "A", plug in with another USB HDD "B", and then plug in USB HDD "A" again, V10 will not remember the resume position.

Hmm. Strange but at least it can resume.

Any other flaws you find in your V10? Your rating of the V1) - excellant, good, average?

Thanks
*
Well, V10 serves my needs. I unlikely to buy another player till it is broken. So good rating.
