Hi, I wonder anyone here heard of Melamine Kitchen Cabinet that is termite proof?

So far I went to 4 showrooms and only 1 showroom told me that their wood / melamine is termite proof.

They showed me the normal and the termite proof melamine, the different is the termite proof melamine got a green layer within as is kind of treatment / posion to prevent termite.

Please help. Thanks.

SORRY to tell you !! there's no such 100% termite proof for melamine board as far as I know........ pls becareful for the sweet talk of the respective salesman ..... as someone said the aluminum carcass cabinets will give u 100% termite proof solutions..... others like green layer is not !!! it's a type of chemical to make the board become more water resistent (not waterproof) compare to board withour the green layer/chemical....... but i still can accept if the salesperson told u it's chemical will not attracts termites rather than termite proof !!! BEWARE cool2.gif

Yes, it happen that there are such materials, I am personally going for Fibre board for KC as my brother using as well. It is water proof, anti termite, heat resistance, my contractor show me on the spot, burn the fiber board with his lighter and nothing happen on the board, he showed my bro the board rendam inside water 1 week, nothing happen as well, but of course it will be more costly than typical KC using wood one:)

OK, fibre board is another type of material which i agree as per your post...... TS saying it's melamine board so as far as melamine board concern mine above comments is FIXED. nod.gif

Hi Ernie, thanks for reply.
Actually the long section of the kitchen is 8ft and it is done in horizontal way. Shouldn't it be much easier to follow the grain since its done horizontally?

Just curious, if i would to change all the doors with new doors that follow grain, how much will it cost?

ok let me tell u horizontal can follow the grain and i bet u will not get what u want if u not tell them at first. u can forget it if it's more than 8 feet, no way you can follow grain

normally abs melamine board come with 4' x 8' more then that got gaps between, so tv panel should not longer then that. if can choose deep colour or linear grains it will be nice looking.
