Hi, I wonder anyone here heard of Melamine Kitchen Cabinet that is termite proof?
So far I went to 4 showrooms and only 1 showroom told me that their wood / melamine is termite proof.
They showed me the normal and the termite proof melamine, the different is the termite proof melamine got a green layer within as is kind of treatment / posion to prevent termite.
Please help. Thanks.

If you want termite proof kitchen cabinet, then get the aluminum type. Sure to be termite proof. The so called treatment to prevent termite in the material itself. How will it affect your health as you will be placing your food, utensils, etc inside the cabinets. If it is strong enough to kill the termites, am sure it is also strong enough to affect your health; if it doesn't kill.

Thanks. SORRY to tell you !! there's no such 100% termite proof for melamine board as far as I know........ pls becareful for the sweet talk of the respective salesman ..... as someone said the aluminum carcass cabinets will give u 100% termite proof solutions..... others like green layer is not !!! it's a type of chemical to make the board become more water resistent (not waterproof) compare to board withour the green layer/chemical....... but i still can accept if the salesperson told u it's chemical will not attracts termites rather than termite proof !!! Yes, it happen that there are such materials, I am personally going for Fibre board for KC as my brother using as well. It is water proof, anti termite, heat resistance, my contractor show me on the spot, burn the fiber board with his lighter and nothing happen on the board, he showed my bro the board rendam inside water 1 week, nothing happen as well, but of course it will be more costly than typical KC using wood one:)

Milamine board usually is not more then 8ft so more then that the grain will be diff already. or if u mean vertical grain or horizontal grain, then i will say, of coz they have to follow.

Hi Ernie, thanks for reply. Actually the long section of the kitchen is 8ft and it is done in horizontal way. Shouldn't it be much easier to follow the grain since its done horizontally? Just curious, if i would to change all the doors with new doors that follow grain, how much will it cost?

If you cabinet is within 8ft, there should be no problem to continue the grain, sometime, some KC shop are not making the door with the same pcs of wood, becoz sometime the door got big and small, if continue the grain, may have wastage a lot, so they just mix and match with diff pcs of wood to save thier cost. Another situation is, those door are cut out by diff ppl, example, swing door are done by 1 worker, but drawer done by another worker, then sure the wood will not be able to join. My name is Tim by the way. ^^
